coral: fish farm is cheap, reborn is not, the rest is expensive.
fish: ditto
chemi-pure clememti 328 fresh water fish shop (not the 24 hr one)h is cheap
tropic marin (pro reef) ML and reborn is cheap.
ha ha thanks for the compliment, i am a poor man by profession, just kidding.
like what i also say, cheap have cheap keep, exp have exp keep, just make sure it is a good keep
$1500 is way too high in my opinion my 4FT is only around 1.2k (everything, first hand) my low cost four feet tank
the critical part is not how much $ you spend or how many equip you have but rather, how well you know your tank. it takes time and knowledge and more...
cheap have cheap keep
ex have ex keep
but make sure it is a good keep
i dont think it will crack, as the LRs will rest on the bottom of the tank and the cabinet is acting "against" the weight, thus the weight will be "transfer" to the leg of the cabinet. for every action, there is a reaction...
sigh... reefers are sometimes a lonely lot... none of my friends/ colleagues keep reef... lonely river flows ~~~ to the sea, to the sea~~~
Hi! i dont quite understand why BB will require other equipments (other than the standard equipment, skimmer, filter, etc) to make it work??
can you please enlighten me?
i am not investing in any other equipment, but no harm knowing more
few ways to save cost:
* consolidated all purchases so as to ask for higher discount
* ask around for prices as there can be a large varies in selling price
* dont buy coral because you like them, buy because you can keep them sucessfully (ditto for fishes)
money not easy to earn...
Both have been around for >6mths, healthy and opening. when my fishes swim passed, they will closed
my T5 is not actually NO, i am using HO on my rainbxw light set ( which comes with NO, and yes, HO is actually brighter). when i check with the vendor. they said that for this shipment it can be "done". so what i have now is HO in NO light set.
cheap have cheap keep
expensive have expensive keep (i cant stand my english...)
each to his own...
BTW, i always consolidate all my purchase so that i can ask for discount...
thanks all for the comments (feel encouraged)
some replies:
* proreef - (all additives) = $ for Coral + save time
* i have 8 tubes (T5LO, 4 tubes in each lighting set)
* have been keeping reef tank for >2Yrs but current tank moved over from old place (shift house... terrible experience...never want to go through it again...)
my equipment list:
1) 4 FT Tank
2) 2 * 4 FT T5LO Lights (@$115 each)
3) 1 * resun canister filter (@ cannot remember, but it is relatively cheap)
4) 1* viaqua protein skimmer (@$75 each)
5) 1 * fan (@$24)
6) 2* resun internal filter (@$35 each)
7) chemipure + rowaphos + prime
8) ref books (important and usefull)
9) wetwebmedia (very important and very usefull)
10) and of course sgreefclub lah
cheers
ho ho $ really no enough...
i save by performing regular water change (topic marin pro reef,10%-20%), one/twice weekly.
so that i can do away with ALL the additives (i have tried many (and it is really many) different additives during my first year in the hobby, and to me, i find that the result does not quite justify the $ and time put in)
I am using external filter (resun) + T5 LO (rainbow) + protein skimmer (VIA AQUA), relatively cheap compare to others....
It is the KNOWLEDGE & SKILLs that matter more than anything else...
CHEERS to low cost
gives it coral (for sun bathing), fish (to make friends with) and pray hard.
mine has been around for 1yr+, it never imagine itself to be a boeing 747...
oh, what i mean from "save me from topping up" is that i can do away with all the additional topping up (Ca+, Iodine, this buffer that buffer, etc)
i am just changing water (10%-20%) twice a week for my 4FT tank and not using any additonal additives.
