  1. alternatively you can buy two set of aquazonic 2 ft T5 light sets, one set is two tube (2*24 watt), then you can have one set all white and one set all blue. http://www.amazon.com/Green-Element-Aquarium-Light-Fixture/dp/B00AS1JI0Y/ref=sr_1_1?s=pet-supplies&ie=UTF8&qid=1409238263&sr=1-1&keywords=Green+Element+EVO
  2. green element LED for two feet is about $165 per set. one set is 48 watt, so two set would be 96 watt, shall be more than enough for 2ft tank. the catch is 96 watt might be a tat too strong...
  3. from some online review... wattage is really low for keeping LPS/ SPS...
  4. the constraint with LPS is that it is tough to find blue color LPS... how i wish every type of LPS has seven color varieties...
  5. bro, you shall test at least the following water parameters: ammonia, nitrite, NO3 and PO4 and if your live rocks start to become dead rocks, then all these para will only shot up... keep doing partial water change and hope that your filter will be established before any more bad things happen
  6. the red gonio on the right is my favorite LPS for the time being. but I guess when the sun coral open up (I hope) eventually, my number 1 love coral would be the sun...
  7. yup, I just drop a few drops directly into the tank and I let the fish figure out whether they want to eat it or not... of cos prior to that I did read the content lah, and figure out it is identical to GNC for LS... from Polyp-Booster: http://www.polyplab.com/specialized-additives-for-corals-and-invertebrates/19-polyp-booster.php Contains 18 Amino-acids (60% of dry weight) Contains 12 Fatty acids (20% of dry weight) Contains as much as 120ppm of Astaxanthan pigment, from natural sources. Can trigger a feeding response in most aquarium inhabitants including corals, inverts, crustaceans and fish in less than 30 seconds. Will improve the corals' ability to absorb any food source when the feeding response is triggered.
  8. bro, in my exp, it is just not wise to design your entire setup based on a single factor, LED in your case... I know the feeling (and consequence) cos my 1.5ft nano was created becos I got the tank thro a combination of several factors (check my nano tank link at my signature for the whole story)... I guess it is better to plan your setup based on your estimation of your available budget and time, as like the reefers always say: initial setup phase requires time and money, after that , it requires more time and more money...
  9. i just drop the droplets into the tank, sometimes my fish eat it too. but my plan is to soak dried mysis and brine shrimp with it and feed the fish...
  10. I used to have a picasso trigger, I believe it is the most intelligent fish I have in the entire tank. it learns pretty quickly that everything i put into the tank is food for him... including endless maxima clams, cleaner shrimps, small fish, crabs.... _-"
  11. bro, i am just playing the elimination game here. 1) running on chiller? 2) what are the 15 fishes that you have, what do you feed them and how frequent?
  12. weight in saltwater shall be lighter than in land (i guess), else you can try buy a second hand cheaper wavemaker like sun sun which the holder are those suction plate but with a knob to press against the glass to tighten it, those shall be strong enough. just make sure the holder are the same as your RW. (I know hydor and jebao holder are inter exchangeable)
  13. can you just remove the magnet and use it as a suction plate on the glass? it works on my RW4
  14. i am worry about that and since my tank is relatively shallow (30cm) and mostly LPS, i guess i will have to start at around 40% of the Watt and slowly increase...
  15. how i wish all the LFS in sg are located in a single street, it is so much easy to compare pricing loh...
  16. Yo bro, I did not check the price of any pumps but www.fish-street.com price shall give a good indication of the price ah.

  18. huhu, turn out the trip to fish street is more fulfilling than I expected. among all the small small items I bought, I finally bought a better LED for my 2ft tank. Original intention is to shop for maspect razor r420r 120W(selling around HKD 3000 (SGD500)). Ended up sawing several LFS in fish street displaying this ZETLIGHT ZT6500 90W (selling around HKD 2800 (SGD$470)). After seeing the two lights on display, I was impressed more by the ZT6500 (razor lovers please dont kick me) for the following reasons which the razor does not featured: 1) the lighting effect is more centralize as the center of ZT6500 is a 40W LED group, representing sun like effect. (ZT6500 also uses CREE and BRIDGELUX LED). 2) Moonlight guiding feature (two blue lights strip can remain on when all lights are off) 3) remote control 4) thunder and cloud mode 5) 2 * violet LED (for a combined colour of orange to mimic sunrise and sunset) 6) one year global warranty A check on the company website for the products http://www.zetlightusa.com/#!blank/cq4r and I found that the retailing price in US is USD529 so I chop chop buy and run back to hotel to play with it company website: http://www.zetlight.com/index.php/products.html?id=47 Breaking in the light in hotel room (read: playing with all the settings, 5 time points, 32 different intensity for all three white, blue and violet LED, moonlight, thunder, clouds, etc) Overall I am very happy with the product and I think for SGD470 I will never be able to get similar LED in Singapore. Now I cant wait to see the effect the lights have on the... hotel side table... _-" p/s: Corals in fish street is not cheap at all p/s: LFS display tank is damn clean loh, I wonder did they scrape off the algae daily...
  19. I somehow feel that we reefers in sg are one up in term of LS price and availability but when come to prices on equipment we are paying that bit of extra for living in the world top 10 expensive cities..

  21. Any bro/ sis been to/ know what are the good buys in HongKong fish street (通菜街)? I have heard about the the vast variety of LS available there but in term of accessories or equipment what are those good buys i.e. 30% or more cheaper than SG... based on my personal research, I am expecting to get hanna checkers, its reagents, PH pen, refractometer and those Chinese brands 红海星 feeder/ ATS at maybe 30% cheaper than in SG. and Maspect Razor r420r is relatively cheap here in china... about SGD400 for the 120W model with free 120 degree lens some more... make me feel like buying all my future china made reef thingy in china...
  22. FTV(ideo) @ 15/08/14 Three more days till my two weeks business trip, during the period there will be no maintenance done (only feeding and emptying skimmer cup)... fingers crossed, hopefully all the filters/ AC/ etc that I have put in place is sufficient for the LS to survive the two weeks... fingers crossed. Posting a before video now, will post an after video when I come back to 纪念纪念... FTV as at 15/08/14 http://youtu.be/Oq1rfGZ3TtM FTV as at 30/08/14 XXX (to be uploaded)
