I am using a chiller. Based on your suggestion and what the other bros said, i think i know why the SG goes up liao: water evaporation over two weeks (salinity up) and i top up with full strength water instead of lower SG water.

There is a water level marking on my tunze 9002, so i ask my family to top up to the level daily. But last trip after i came back, the SG was at SG1.025 from the usual 1.023 [emoji23]

That is one good suggestion. But if the water removed is SG1.023 cant i top up with SG1.023 water?

Just use a penknife and slice the the unwanted part off. That is how i fag my xenia. Less than a week the wound heal liao.

Yes bro my tank is only2*1*1 about 65 litres and becos i often have to travel for two weeks so during the two weeks no water change but only water top up by family member. So the question is to top up fresh or salt water loh.

15/10/14 – Magnetic Island (DIY) Received a gift in the form of a very unique DIY magnetic island from a nice bro yesterday (it is always refreshing to visit bros with nice tanks and evident that a lot of heart was put into their tanks). The concept is very simplet yet interesting: glued a flat rock to the top of a magnetic cleaner and encrust the rock with small pieces of coral that one likes. For this gift, the nice bro has a bird nest, zoa and some luminous gsp polyp glued on it. The advantage of this magnetic island is it is very free placing i.e. I can place it on any side of the tank and adjust the position to my wish. For now, I have placed a small clam on it as the clam has a hard time attaching itself on a surface, no thanks to all the snails and hermit crabs knocking the clam off its placement every now and then. And hey, I might just want to expand the idea by placing sun coral (or any other coral) which I don’t want the hermit crabs/ shrimps to steal its food during feeding. Unless my hermit crabs decide to learn how to climb wall else they will never be able to reach the island.
