I guess there is a mati time for everything... even for eheim. So here I go, spent my entire monthly reefing budget on a new eheim pro 3 2075 canister. Next thing is that got some new LS from a nice reefer and got some nice FOC frags when I bumped into another reefer while collecting the LS. Always nice talking to young generation reefers. Yes. You can use canister for both bio and mechanical filter. I am using caninster too. But 99% of the reefers use sump, more convenient to maintain and place equipment. As for nitrate buildup, if you dont wash ur filter floss in ur sump, same build up can happen.

anthias lover here too. Bro you might want to try TDO C1 pallets, my blue eyes love them. cos anthias is mostly mid level feeder, a lot of pallets are either floating or sinking pallets, so anthias might not be able to catch them.

First test the NO3 and PO4 of your NSW. If it is high, your 90% WC is equal to 90% top up of NO3 and PO4. Then next question is how big and established is your bio filter. Subsequencelty then we can talk about skimmer, flow, lighting, etc.

Hydrometer reading are default at 25oC. So for those reefers who are not using chiller might need to see conversion chart. But i also scare liao, better buy a refractometer next time round.
