  1. hello .. my mantis died in the rocks .. I thought it would crawl out when you dip in fresh water .. 1.5" sized mantis enough to kill all my small fishes ..
  2. he's asking purple firefish aka flame goby.. these go for $12-15 each bought like 10 liao.. 10% survival rate though.. but 60% death was my fault.. too eager to add fishes etcetc.. got 1 fine specimen now for 1/2 year liao.. thinking of getting another one
  3. can't find it now.. I'll post when I find one.. takes a month or so hydroids.. interesting.. I go check them out.. also got lots of worn like things from the sand (was told spaghetti worms good detritus worms but GROSS! )
  4. pict of the set wall mount brackets still unopened
  5. something is spawning these.. every now and then I see a small jelly floating.. then they disappear ( probably filtered out) don't use sea water, doesn't match the times I buy new fishes.. so where they come from??
  6. got a set for sale dolby 5.1 with radio/vcd/dvd progressive scan model lx3900sa 4 speakers +1 center and 1 sub asking $150 ono used less than a year reason for selling.. just upgraded
  7. cerianthus, or tube anemone.. aggressive thing.. good thing they dun travel.. coz my fish avoided that spot like plague..
  8. thanks for the info.. I've got rhodactics, mushies, yumas, zoos, gornios, suns and supersuns.. only thing that couldn't flourish was greenstar polyps.. rowa enough to get rid of po4 and silicates I guess
  9. http://www.wetwebmedia.com/sabertoothblens.htm yikes.. so nice.. would have bought it also..
  10. they jump when something spook them.. mine the bigger fishes chasing each other usually spooks them enough to dart around the tank
  11. Patrick, yes its a yellow eye kole.. very nice .. would have taken if I don't already have a purple.. wstan77.. do change that flame goby to fire sigh now gotta go look for good flame gobies again...
  12. my definition of big is approx. >3.5" (my tank is only 3x1.5x2) I have 7 big fishes, 8 medium fishes(2-3") and another 7-8 small fishes (shrimp gobies) I have 5 shrimps, 1 big crab and multiple unwanted crabs (dunno how crusteceans contribute to waste) 1 thing for certain.. twice I've turned off the pump to the RDSB.. 1/2 day is all it takes for no3 to rise to 50ppm so I'm certain my dsb works very well.. just unsightly so at 20ppm I guess its ok but not ideal?? no wories about ph fluctuations, effluents, media topups .. just gotta believe it works
  13. thanks for the info.. predatory or aggressive??
  14. help.. just bought it becoz i was told its a goby.. just had a very close look.. my what long teeth it has!! I think its oops liao.. all my fish non aggressive !!
  15. ah beng.. king angel blue tilefish small blue tangs some other juve angels tiger striped anthias (??) irwana tiger striped anthias corals brain lobo prata super suns :yeah: left a few GRAB GRAB!! price too low to mention!!
  16. do you get 0 nitrate?? I am doing almost the same and I have about 25 fishes (before lst week ) as in I feed twice a day.. once with henry's mix and once with pellets plus mysis every 3 days for my suns.. and my nitrate is always at 20ppm.. never changed never fluctuated.. OT ranting Last week thought I could lower it abit by changing water.. so stirred the sand to get shitz out changed about 15% water.. nitrate went upwards of 50ppm immediately for that clown move.. I lost 1 RG 1 anthias and 1 blenny.. 2 hardy fish!! have not changed water since setting up RDSB..just bcos of the lure of 0ppm... remind me don't change water again!!
  17. bro how big is your tank and how many fish? is your lr still infested with crabs? think one of the greissy has my name on it
  18. sigh looking for royal gramma brazilian breed lost mine a few days ago
  19. Does the effluent create any ionic imbalance or fluctuations in concentrations ?? Possibility of the sulphur getting into the system ?? I guess the merit of this system compared to el naturel is it works pretty fast ?? (timeline for fast is 1 month or so) I'm using the cheap way of doing things .. so wondering if we really need to go to these expensive and sophisticated devices .. Self regenerating no effluent all natural DSB takes a while to bring nitrates down though .. about 6 weeks or so ..
  20. Seaweed select from ocean nutrition.. I buy both the red and green algae..each pack $9 with 4 slices of big seaweed.. even my anthias and cleaner wrasse takes a bite whenever I clip it on Seen a few places selling..got mine from farmart
  21. getting my sump redone to include things I like .. Ideas, thoughts and/ or suggestions ?? the restriction here is it's a 3' with a width of only 1.5' .. return pump position is fixed since I'm too lazy to move the pipes BTW Refugium is just an idea I'm toying with .. since I much prefer the DSB.. Thanks oops .. sorry .. the flow direction is under the bioring into the quarantine area, over to DSB behind.. then to the skimmer.. then to the return pump back to main tank
  22. Thanks for the help .. and the idea I'll go get some netting meanwhile .. don't think they jumped over though .. they probably swam across the barrier (think width is too wide)
  23. I used the LR from my old tank and dumped the bacteria in a bottle..and new rocks.. took 1.5 weeks or so for the cycle to settle.. still faster than new.. but guess NSW will be definitely faster in you case.. hey ..how bout 50/50 mix? or use back the water from ur old tank lor.. just temp put the LS somewhere
