I think the chemical you are referring to is AZ NO3?? my friend recommended.. so i went and bot a bottle last week I have a 2ft tank also ..20 gal water.. conditions are >50-100ppm no3 since i started midweek (last wednesday).. levels remained unchanged did a 20% change over the weekend (no3 dropped to 25-50ppm) by yesterday i had reached 1 short of max dosage recommendation (word of advice DON'T! ) for 50-60gal tank ( 5.5ml..max being 8ml) yesterday nite all fish gasping.. so pump air for 2 hrs .. 2day 2 din make it.. morning test 25ppm no3 this evening test again <12ppm no3 dotty RIP (good riddance killed 2 of my fire gobies, ate 2 yashias, ate 2 cleaners) boxer RIP (sigh 4 boxers RIP 3 due no3 4th due chemical to remove no3 ) test kit - tetra no3 measured before work at 6am after work ..usually at nite chemical added nitely per instruction for 50-60gal tank.. think follow the instructions should be good for letting me rant

well .. found one side of the equation to the problem!!!! I use tap water to change water .. and the NO3 never drop below 25ppm .. NOW I KNOW WHY !!!!! Geez ... the tap water comes with >12.5PPM NO3 !!! Where to get RO ???

wah define overstock! I 2' tank with 4 fishes and 2 shrimps still see buildup of no3 about 25mg per week!! feed them only 2-3 days a week.. got small skimmer got those chemical denitrators still boh lasa.. of course i have corals oso but do they contribute to buildup?

neon damsel to give or swop.. 1.5" size wif me 4 2 months too aggressive for my gobies

'semi aggressive' dottyback is attacking all my gobies sigh my fire goby broke antenna liao.. how do you guys catch a nimble fish like the dotty and neon damsel?? freaking aggressive

update.. everything back to norm liao .. now just monitor the conditions.. water change done and will be doing weekly until no3 < 12ppm bought a skimmer also finally and my small cooler finally arrived .. www.coolworksinc.com 1 day to cool to 28deg.. and found out the doctor i just boight over the weekend pregnant!! eh how to take care?

I stirred up the sandy bottom .. could this cause all the shit and rubbish and compost to surface and kill all the LS with the ROT ?? I complained about the stinky smell earlier .. now no more ?!??????!! gonna keep the devil inside for a couple of days to make sure .. then start from 0 again .. sigh .. 1 maroon 1 fire goby 1 flame goby 1 boxing shrimp 1 devil 1 dotty sigh .. REDO AGAIN !! damn hard to find flame and rendall !!!!!!!

eh .. does that have an effect on the addition of the corals ??? bought the LR from pacific (most of my LS bought from there anyway) small 2 ft cube tank built in filter sump system cycled for about 3-4 weeks (LR in after 2 weeks) 2 nemos with me from dayH until current then they up lorry..

oh yea .. paiseh .. small tank .. 2 ft cube .. avg used to add max 2 corals .. got the typical PH swing (from 8.3 to 7.7) .. but this time .. everything went crazy .. Oh yea .. water stinks !! like punggol point at lo tide Oops .. sorry .. forgot to add .. stirred up the water today while changing water .. guess that can cause the NO to spike big time ?!?!

Nothing wrong with the setup .. been running with everything for 3 months liao .. only thing is added the corals .. then fish die .. every one of the parameters are within norms only after adding the corals then every thing become erratic .. sigh Lets see I know I shifted the location of some of the LR after adding the corals .. tested the water 1 day later .. PH dropped slightly then today NO go thru the roof and all (except 1) fish upz the lorry

added 2 corals only my ph dropped before to this level .. no fish pengsan .. sigh .. just tested NO2 again .. go beyond what the test kit can measure liao .. wah liao .. 1 day only .. from 0 to so much !! Just changed water .. about 30-40% .. see what happens .. if the devil also up the lorry .. then start all over again .. sigh .. gotta wait another 3-4weeks again !!!!!!!!

bought a couple of corals on friday .. bought a VERY NICE goby .. added them in and rearrange the layout of the tank abit .. next day .. 75% of the fish up the lorry .. left 1 fire goby, 1 neon and 1 rendall goby .. today wake left damsel only .. could the coral release toxic things into the water when I intro it into the tank ?!?!?!?! At first thought the grass took up too much oxygen during night so oxygen starvation .. but then .. the grass with the fish from day h+1month liao .. got those FIDO hair looking grass turning white on me also .. they turn white then brown (suspect die liao) .. SIGH .. can anyone tell me what's wrong ?!?!?!?!??! when the fish died measure all parameters .. NO2 increased alot (went up from 0 to 10ppm) NO3 no change (about 25ppm) PH7.7 (dropped from 8.3) salinity 1.023 sigh .. lonely devil swimming only .. all the rest keechia liao

found it!!thanks.. it seems like after the filter episode it seem to be extremely shy now.. it doesn't come out until evenings.. whew!! hey can i mix a flame with the fire??

Sigh How do you find your fish if they decide to go into hiding ?? How do you know if they are still alive ?? Lost one of my fire gobies .. found him in the filter about a day later .. gingerly got him out of the filter .. hoped I didn't stressed him out too much during the rescue effort .. now lost him again lucky my tank is fully covered (except the sump/filter area)

well ..just be careful .. I have a small tank too .. and I didn't check my pH for about a week .. then found out it dropped to 7 (neutral) .. so added the soda in .. next day both my cleaner shrimps became anemone food .. couldn't take the change in conditions ..

Excuse the poor quality picture You can get the ready made controller from Bell System at simlim tower 3rd floor.. ask for temp controller part 407 it's a 9-12v controller I wired mine up to a 12VDC converter running off the main .. very simple .. you can buy it from SimLim tower also .. just cut off the tip, find the black and red wire (-ve and +ve respectively) recommend you get a 12VDC 1200mA Things you need 1. Temp controller 407 2. 12VDC converter depending on no. of fans you want to run, about 1200mA should be enough .. my fans run about 0.3A each .. so lots of leftover juice.. 3. some wires and heatshrink tubing (make everything look nice) 4. Solder and wire cutter 5. Silicone sealer -------------------------------------- Cut the 12VDC connector tip to expose the 2 internal wires .. should be either red/black or white/black and black ... black is always -ve - connect up the +ve from the controller to the converter (yeb you need to connect 2 wires to 1 converter output +ve wire) - likewise for the -ve - wire up the black wire from the fan to the ground side of the 12VDC - connect the red wire from the fan to No.3 connector - remove the temp probe if you need to extend the length of the probe into the water (I used about 20cm extension) - get any unused portion of the airhose tubing and run the temp probe through the tubing then seal it up with the silicone sealant (prevent saltwater corrosion) Power up and do the controller setup and you're DONE !! PS controller setup instructions is in the small instruction booklet.. My fan comes on at 29degrees celsius and stays on for 1 min until after the temp drops below 29 degrees I number the bottom row of connectors from left to right 1 to 7 (anyway .. instructions come with the kit on how to setup) 1 - +ve (to the 12VDC) 2 - -ve (to the 12VDC) 3 - to the +ve of the fan (to activate the fan) 4 - -ve (to the 12VDC) 5 - +ve (to the 12VDC) 6 & 7 connects to the temperature probe (comes fitted)

update.. they are gone.. lookslike they came up becoz i stir up the sand.. i've the fish gand eat them and they don't seem to attach to the fish..can ask if these will grow?? geez if ick then gone liao coz ALOT.. cpnfirm must do the shite all over again to kill them?? any idea where they ###### frrom??

all of a sudden i get alot of small white tjings that either stick to the glass or float around the water.. any idea what they are? parasites?! I'VE GOT ALOT OF THEM!! any idea what can eat this?

hey how to get rid of no3 now??? shows 50ppm with tetra test.. it says change water.. (yub finally got no3 test kit) geez every1 say no2 dangerous..seems like no3 oso quite dangerous.. ok.. how to get rid of damsel hehehe

update .. seems like the spike was because I added too many fish at 1 go .. didn't know 4 fishes is too many (oh yea .. forgot .. added corals too .. do they cause the No2 to shoot up too ??) maybe it's just the dirty LFS water Anyway .. everything back to normal now .. a scary time for me (from all the mention about needing 1 months to cycle everything) maybe it's not mature yet like what HOTLEMOND mentioned going to add my fire gobys next (month that is )

ok.. maybe i'm wrong.. but its not white .. its green in color.. light green.. kight off it hides behind my rocks.. lights on it climb down to the sand.. but you're rite.. off oni it shrinks how to feed? i see it caught quit a few brine shrimps when i dumped them in..
