i most probably am wrong but it could be one of the many types of worms that make ur sand bed Live- i got lots in mine & sometimes i catch them against the glass while they burrow across the front. But mine are brown. its a worm & once fishes go in,sooner or later somethins gonna eat it. My picasso used to hydrojet the sand to get them & since i've taken him out their population is growing again.

ok phang, tried a 1200ltr last nite.in one of my test tanks..& it works. cut some pvc pipes to fit. worked a little too well actually cause it was a 2ft filled half with old tnk water(from my 4ft water change)- i tink it turned over the water within an hour or 2 & there was nothing to skim anymore hee hee.Tonite gotta break it down & into storage again. its for a future additional 4ft. so i collecting all the barang barang now...lights,chiller,skimmer,LR,fishes.

i also dun get what u mean by not working? is the water being pumped in?- the skimmer has its own air inlet-(no need for an airpump).All u need is to extend wif an airline if u want. is the water level above the outlet of the skimmer? do u see the air&water mix in the skimmer-getting a whitish mist colour water?- u can adjust the level of water by tweaking the outlet nozzle,adjust it so the level is near the top-abt 1-2 below where the cup starts- let it run cause new skimmers gotta break in. should be foaming within hours. i tested with 1200ltr powerhead last night & it works fine.

phang, i got a macro(quite big) but still figuring out how much power i need input- thought i try 1200ltr powerhead i have spare tonite- see wat happens. its 2nd hand so didn't have instructions & didn't know the previous powerhead flowrate. adrianli? i got a spare Jebo skimmer for $20 if u want(but u gotta figure & tinkle on powerhead cause i couldn't get one to fit)- used it twice(total 2hrs usage)& that was nearly a yr ago,been in the cupboard ever since.The jebo is the kind that has the clip to screw onto the sides.

yep, i have watch dottyback eat candy shrimps right in front of my. i had triggers with cleaners before- but they all have individual characters...so really depends on the triggers mood!. maybe if its hungry yes it will.

izit the sump model? if i'm right then u only need the powerhead- but it has to be powerful, at ard 1000ltr/hr or more- just tested wif a 600ltr/hr & it doesn't work. maybe more than 1000ltr too-

as the guys said, switch to prawn meat of fish meat(doesn't cost much)u can freeze it & thaw for use. cut into pieces & feed twice a week. If all is well u can even do it every 3days- should put out a spurt of growth within weeks. cut the pieces just big enough for the thing to grab & eat straight away in front of your eyes within mins- too big & it'll let it float away. & if the clown disturbs the food- shoo it away until anemone swallows it. the tablet u using not much of use to the anemones- nutrition & protein wise.

1 question guys should i mix 6500k wif 10k?noticed Ach used them- actual light had 2x 6500k PL & 2x 10k PL (all 36w) found that the 6500k too yellowish.so i took them out so just running the 2x 10k in that ballast. i have 2 sets of these(i using one set of 2x PL 10k & an additional 1x FL 50/50+1x FL acitinic). 4ft, Mainly for Fish wif a sparse array of soft corals/polyps & a number of anemones.

yep, but they seldom on sale too. same as the queen trig. O.niger(black wif white teeth) & picasso are the most common- both can mix wif other fishes. i had them both & just recently got rid of the O.niger.

3ft- ok, should not be a problem for bio-load. bacteria should take abt a week after introduction to compensate to the slight increase. it won't stay still for a pic........will try for one ,i guess u know what they look like. green chromis? i dunno what to do wif the damsels.

RMX- for a 2ft its ok.But they are sensitive too! For a 4ft, if u can afford- GO for a sump, u won't regret it. If u can't(be it converting from FW or a free tnk or a really cheap tnk)then running 2 canisters for a 4ft would suffice for a good stable water platform. i have one 4ft(previously an aro tnk)without sump- problems will arise on a regular basis,...change water weekly? 1 change equals to a 8gal pail(for me), i did start wif once every 14days...then it became every 21 days...then every 30days- now i stick to every 45-60 days. Salt is not cheap & i can go thru a 8kg bag in a blink of an eye!it ain't worth it. - then i reuse the old water for other smaller tnks & then reused again for brine shrimp- too costly to throw after 1 use. + wif a sump u can hide all the equipment away. & i'm already planning for a next one.

yes derf, how big is ur tank? Its now in a 2ft cause its still relatively small...but in time it will grow(maybe 1yr more to go) mixing is no problems- it came from a tnk with damsels,tangs,clowns. Actually, it doesn't disturb anyone else. Its also doesn't disturb much invertebrates- U can't mix it wif any kind of shrimps(cause i feed him live feeders), NO clams- he's got a taste for them. other than that very docile. Just keep him fed,the rubbish bin will eat any of the following>- frozen bloodworms,frozen BS/live BS,frozen Mysis,anykind of pellet food,tetra bits,fresh squid,fresh prawns,live prawns-Dried krill(those LH kind also can). i would advise against hand feeding unless u trained it. p.s- if u got ur hand in the tnk & it comes near just flick it(kuity) wif ur finger & it learns not to eat ur finger while u do ur stuff. AT-- yeh i was so close to a 15" clown trigger in redang i could count its white teeth(2 on top & 3 on the bottom a cm each) it ripped thru my bag of bread still in my hands. All i can manage to think is !friggin beautifull! & the clown trig is still my fav. a dream maybe in the very distant future. commands too high a price so i want a 4ft tnk just for it alone.

clown trig, could u tell me how much the tnk cost? & from where? i'm looking for a 4x2x2.5 wif sump(i've had it! fed up w/o sump) i've found the space & budget but targeted setup in 6mths-10mths time. so gotta start search on tnks dealers now. just bare tank-same design as yours(i already got the lights,chiller,skimmer for it) thnks.....

have 1x picasso trigger (4") 1x green chromis 3x 4 stripe damsels 1.5" 1 x yellow damsel Got to clear my holding tnks so: all to go F.O.C or swop with anythin unwanted(even harvested macro algaes)- i'm in Tampines

can consoder using PVC pipes to create steps to place LR on. 1/4 grey/black u-pvc works best - join the length of pipes by T-joints & corner joints(no need to glue so its configurable). In addition,By placing light diffuser on the shelfs of pvc u create a stable platform for heavy pieces of rock. The pipes should be drilled at intervals to allow for a little circulation within them. Simple,cheap,configure it to ur preference(the possibilities are endless) & u don't have to use as many rocks.

hi all, was looking for PL 36w 10k...was at kelantan on sun...all closed & ended up walking whole of lavender area-came away wif a drill set!(in angst i ended all the way at sealife & spent money again!). all i could find in the light shops @36w-4pins were the osram 2980 lumens-(hardy enough).& they look warm white to me- even though called daylight. Does anybody have an add. of the shop? i know its a lane but got so many shops. will pop by nature next week-r they cheapish for PL? only looking for 10k & higher tubes. P.S, was cringing at rainbow last nite- saw they had 11w phillips Daylight PL tubes@ $14. BTW- NTUC sells them @$2.50!! Joke!

how come u call candy shr. camel? i thought they only go by comet or candy - was thinkin what was a camel? AT- izzzit, so far never got that far, always had somethin eat them before anythin happens- Bugger!previously a dottyback ate 3 of them & the trigger then ate the dottyback. thks bluebeard, after doing the PL for FW kinda got the hang of it. But bigger watts still a little scary so i went & got 2 sets of 4xPL 32watts-10k. so now 8 32watts PL + 2 X 36w FL(shall decomission other 2x FL tubes).+ a set of 6 fans for circulation. Got the stuff 2nd hand from Mphong last weekend from his planted tank. Dun think i can fit everything on but shall mess about. Does petmart sell 32w Acitinic PL ? & how much they cost? chanbi- nope, 2 of them in 4ft- its kinda peaceful now since i thinned out the population. Just a few clowns,a tang,a flame angel,2 damsels,some shrimps- & now a boxfish. Soon should be setting up a 2ft tnk just for seahorse- if i can find good healthy ones. Empty tank all ready loh!,just waiting for next water change to fill it up.

i have one species i ban altogether. The Damsels!!!!!! u know how big some of them can get? Huge. managed to trap all but 2 from my 4ft- now the 2 striped damsels showing signs of egg laying- (not somethin i wanna breed). They will buldoze the gravel/sand bed & if they big enough will move away any corals or rock in the way.i had a domino grow to 4" & i couldn't put anythin within a 1ft area(even my hand). it was 3yrs old. Triggers? i find them peaceful- got a picasso & O.niger, also removed them & now in a tnk of their own .both @4". They like rubbish bins.Apart from eating my clam while i went for reservist(they didn't get enough food), they never disturbed anythin else.Even munch on lettuce. A squirrel i had ate all my candy shrimp incl my big 1 yr old cleaner shr. it went for cleaning everyday by the shrimp & after 4mths turned around(after a cleaning session) & gobbled it up. It was 7".- sinced removed & RECYCLED:was fed to Lobster. goodness, though it was only me that couldn't keep cleaner wrasses- stopped at 4 tries.Max i got was 6mths fed on diet of live daphnia & bbs.

was at kwangs last nite- good thing only had $40 in my pocket. came away wif- 1 boxfish($10),1 candy shrimp($3),1 male seahorse($7)-cause my female getting lonely & 2 skunk clowns($3 each) & a scooter blenny($3). boh pian!(owe the wife a boxfish)- started to pick at my starfish as soon as it went in. took some pics but didn't have time to upload. still looking for another 4 or so seahorses. He had small clowtriggers, 1" sizes $40(he told me depends on season- bigger ones $30). sealife@balestier wanted $60 for one. didn't have much stk , african clowns($4)a tank full & saddleback clowns$5or6) a tank full,& some butterflies. the rest all scattered(mandarins $8). had abt 6 more boxfishes. said new stk should be next week. lor halus stk usually comes on fri- & start shipping out on sat afternoon. reborn stk comes on wed & thu & also sent out by the weekend.
