Any bros can help to calculate the flowrate for pump for returning water from sump to tank? And recommend a brand & model. Thanks!
Tank size: 5ft x 1.5ft x 2ft
As promised, here is my update. Confirmed DSB got nothing to do with Ich cuz after removing all the sand to become BB, got myself another PBT, also kana Ich.
Received many PMs mostly with the same qn - how old. Have used it for 2-3 yrs that is why selling so cheap. Anyway, reserved pending collection. Thanks for all who PMed. Cheers!
Have the following to sell:
Eheim 2228 filter with
Ehiem surface skimmer
With Eheim inlet pipe
Will give away FOC original Eheim spare parts for 2228.
All for $80
Interested pls PM me. Thanks!
Reckon the ocean is a very very very big tank, parameters more stable and natural forces at work to prevent ich
I will update here soon to see if BB is the nemesis to ich
Thanks bros for your comments. I have a 3ft tank started with 3 inch DSB, fishes and corals always not well so removed to 1 inch. But the water circulation pumps and fishes always create sand dunes leaving some part bare - quite ugly.
I am going to upgrade to 5ft so decided to try BB on the 3ft. Yesterday removed all the sand (back breaking man!) and now bare bottom. My daugther complained tank is not nice anymore
Some Tangs have ich every now and then so will see if BB helps.
Thanks guys!
Thanks bro for your help. I heard of reefers silicon (glue0 sand to a perspex sheet (size same as bottom of tank) and glue another perspex on top like sandwich with sand in between. Then put the whole thing into the tank. Looks like bottom got sand but easy to clean. Is this advisable?
I am in 2 minds whether to go bare bottom (the tank, tat is) or have an inch of white aragonite sand. Some say sand will cause nitrate problem and ich will be a problem. Tried DSN before and algae on front of tank looked real ugly. What other methods do you use? Appreciate all comments and opinions!
You know wat... i have been trying to keep PBT for many years and finally succeeded recently. After a few mths decided to add two more. 3 days later tehy all kana itch and died. I have tried all the methods mentioned here (which means many PBT didnt make it ) but none...absolutely none works for PBT...more success with malachite green on YT.
Thanks bro ervine. Nice tank! Can you list down what go into making your refugium? i.e. what kind of algae? LS? I noticed you have very deep sand. The trick is to have deep deep sand base like 6 inches?
Hi, I am thinking whether to have a refugium or not and have been reading up books but still confused
So would like to ask all the experts/senior reefers for opinions. Is a refugium beneficial to mixed reef+fish (mainly Tangs) setup? What is the best way to setup a refugium. It will be great if can post pics of your refugiums. Thank you in advance!
