  1. ok lah...enough fun digressing let's return to talk about cameras for hamann and other bros who need such info
  2. alan: that's why i say the real money-printers all lie low profile one... according to rumours, someone bought a FEW small bubbleking skimmers because a large one cannot fit into his sump.... so end up buying a FEW small bubblekings... how much in total....can just imagine these are the real bigshots.... people like me are just farting around in here
  3. NATO? means No action-Talk only? hahaha... ok i get anyway, if you notice, alot of real money-printers and reefmasters dun talk so much in here one.... those making a lot of noise, posting alot but yet not much pictures are just empty vessels...just like me...*guilty*...i am a big fat vessel tat's why i talk so much in this thead, only got a non DSLR.... those with DSLR more quiet....even weileong din say he got D70 until i arrow him out anyway alan, my clams have been cashed in bulk for me to buy my f828 and finance my megaskimmer project....see? i really dun print money
  4. wah liew alan.. i where got print money...if i print money, maybe some lfs will know and tell you but no, i dun print money, and most lfs do not know who i am... just buy what i want and leave, i dun chit chat too much with them till now i do not have a concrete figure how much i have spent... so i have no absolute figure to go around telling people how much.. sure make me heartpain if i start to count the dollars and cents back to the camera, if i really print money, i will buy the D70 with all the full range of lenses and bring them around in a aluminium/steel hard case like a professional sniper...
  5. Nikon D70 http://www.dpreview.com/reviews/nikond70/page27.asp Canon Digital Rebel EOS300D http://www.dpreview.com/reviews/canoneos300d/page22.asp Sony F828 (non DSLR) http://www.dpreview.com/reviews/sonydscf828/page21.asp
  6. yeah..very good cam.. weileong using it... the sound of the shutter sounds so nice...i still remember the mellow chuck chuck chuck sound...the canon digital rebel shutter is abit on the higher pitch side...but it's a good cam as well..but in burst shooting the D70 has an edge over the digital rebel.. not to mention the all black D70 makes it slightly nicer than the slightly plastic look of the digital rebel both are DSLR, meaning can have the flexibility to change lens..but also means the flexibility to lighten wallets...hehe and their CCD/CMOS sensors are large....meaning even taking pics at larger ISO will not have too significant grainy issues compared to other non-DSLR digicams
  7. aong is correct... though the higher ISO will bring about more grainy pics also... but never mind lah..take at highest resolution...by the time resize for the web...also can't see much grain...hehe
  8. good for you.. if you can..try to look at the manual so that you can manually set the aperture speed to 1/80 or 1/100.. then capturing those fast fishes will be easier.. if u leave it at auto...may be a little difficult
  9. means maybe you got big requirements lor..hehe anyway, so many products out there...really can get mind boggling at times
  10. hamann: maybe this can help you a little in choosing your cam http://www.myproductadvisor.com/mpa/camera/inputSummary.do
  11. The canon s500 "Good battery life for a compact model, but a good idea to buy an extra battery anyway. With a worst-case run time of about 92 minutes on a fully-charged battery, the S500's battery life is on the good side of average for a compact model. Also, while I didn't measure its run-down time with the LCD turned off, it seems to be at least several hours. Nonetheless, my standard advice to purchase a second battery along with the camera still stands" i personally used a few versions of digital ixus since their first model...then moved on to v1 ..v2...good and compact...but the battery life really not good...my personal view.. but then again...cannot have small size and yet super long battery life... have to give and take...hehee
  12. my previous sony v1 pales in comparison Sony DSC-V1 NP-FC11 2.8 Wh 2 hr 39 mins 270 shots the current f828 Sony DSC-F828 NP-FM50 8.6 Wh 5 hr 28 mins 540 shots i am a much happier snap-happy traveller
  13. anyway, back for hamannbmw, maybe can consider the canon G5.... deepblue is using..you can look through his thread and see if his macro pics appeal to you... seriously i think the G5 is a decent camera with a very good battery life... you dun want to have a small cute camera but keep changing batteries, or worse when the batteries cannot be bought off convenience stores when you are travelling... Canon PowerShot G5 BP-511 8.1 Wh 4 hr 33 mins 460 shots very good battery life for the G5
  14. welcome to the bazooka club... alongside tanzy and me in here i switched to speed priority mode...set to around 1/80 or 1/100 speed.. or u can even switch to higher ....so that the speed is faster since you have 250W lights above them...i am only using 150W...so if i increase too much....the pictures will come out dim...in general, i think the higher the value, the easier to capture fast moving fishes weileong suggest aperture priority mode...of around 2.5..seriously i also newbie in terms of photography... i just try to shoot with a steady hand...hold breath, squeeze trigger.
  15. but with the f828 now, i can go nearer and get the scales... but like i said...will be too big for your requirement.. generally those super compact cameras, quite hard to capture fish shots... but of coz, i must admit my skills very lousy...maybe a pro with the same super compact camera can take much better
  16. sample of my blackcap taken with v1 at that time i thought was very good already
  17. sony T1 cannot lah...non moving macro shots maybe still can... but moving ones like fish very difficult... generally..u see the lens size..the bigger it gets...the better it is...but of coz quality is another issue other than size... i was using sony v1....not too bad although not good enough... now using the f828 much better..but of coz too big for your requirements already.. canon g5 should be good for your consideration too
  18. no need for words bro.. just respect
  19. i hear from friends that, to go australia as a tourist and to go there to stay long term are 2 different things.... from the way the locals treat you....dunno true or not..coz i only been there as tourist..hehe.. sometimes..there is no place like home...
