  1. recently noticed my clowns hanging around this small things that move with the current although they are stuck at the wall....are those little nemos to be? i seriously dunno
  2. if only 4digit numbers come out instead mai tu liao..then every week alot of numbers to buy
  3. hehe...first time i hear a reefer's wife so insistent on getting a fish......so u made sure she paid for it? since she wanted it so much
  4. true true...imagine your dream of a school of sunbursts.... fathead anthias with slimbody anthias....wat a match
  5. ooops....never mind lah...masters in pharmacy is considered phD to people like me.....so cheem all the chemical formulae.... anyway tanzy.... is adding magnesium chloride a safer alternative to magnesium sulphate? if so, where is the best place to get magnesium chloride?
  6. confirm lah...as long <$20.....ask your fren bring in lor....i reserve 20 pieces....some i can pass to my frens bartletts and sunsets.....every Mr Bartlett got a Miss sunset partner to do a tango at every sunset
  7. tanzy has a phD in pharmacy or chemistry-related studies....dun play play
  8. ok...let's talk quantity now.. dispar...book 20 pieces for me
  9. gouldian...i din know your wife liked my AT when she was looking at the tank..hehe my AT is about 5 months already, also dunno stable or not...but at least it's eating even when having light bouts of white spot....as long it's willing to eat...i am willing to feed it....never mind worries of overfeeding...i have alot of fishes in there wanting to be fed especially those bartletts behind the rocks... anyway, maybe u can try to leave your UV on 24hrs...firstly flicking the tube on and off will greatly shorten the useful life of the UV tube....secondly...some dun believe in UV's usefulness of aquarium units, so even if you use it 24/7, probably wun hurt anything... try a few types of food till you see your AT respond, hope it responds to food fast enough before disease take its toll.....a feeding fish carrying disease has some chance of making it.....a non feeding fish carrying disease is a self imposed death sentence
  10. http://www.advancedaquarist.com/issues/oct2003/chem.htm all the answers there
  11. dispar: mine must be the cheapest true percula pair....coz has the least black banding.....that time i saw this pair look quite cute...so even though very little black banding i also did not mind..hehe hamann: yeah..i heard of other reefers who also do not observe anemone acceptance from their clowns....well....this kind of thing maybe needs luck and abit of chemistry between the clowns and the anemone..hehe scarab: heee..time for me to ask AGM to let me have his black paired if he ever wants to let go..hehehe
  12. i have been waiting for the paired black ocellaris to come again but never see them again..... woonming had a pair long time back...but he sold it off....sigh... http://www.sgreefclub.com/forum/index.php?...95&hl=clownfish it is pure black and white.....really nice i think 2nd choice would be a pair of skunk clowns
  13. probably lor.... coz they are more orange then the normal kind of false percula... and only about 38 or 40odd a pair at CF when i bought them..... coz that time the average was about 50s to 60s a pair that has alot of black banding lor...i chose this pair with much less black banding..hee but never mind lah....once i put them in the tank...they headed straight for the anemone...no need introduction.....but the weird thing is that...they went for the center rbta at first...then after a few months....migrated to the right rbta...
  14. dispar: yeah..bartletts are real hardy from the way i see it..hehe scarab: have have...i have 2 rbta..although i regretted putting 2....they were clenched fist size in nov/dec last year and now they are huge....i really feel like taking out the center one out...but its foot is attached to the rocks whereby i have no access to.... i have a pair of CF paired true percs in the right side rbta though, but these true percs black banding not so obvious..that's why cheaper posted these much earlier....think maybe let's recap alittle
  15. chio man...if you have that amount of them in your tank.... i till i leave your place..... really nice hor..... my bartletts got some very dominant ones around....always chase the others into the rockworks....only when i feed or pretend to feed then alot of them come out....
  16. not very shenton way yet ah....still some way to go.... that day finally held the base of my new skimmer....no joke man...just the base box of the new skimmer is heavier than my current aquaC or H&S.... the box itself is 40 X 40 X 27cm....using 10mm thick acrylic had a part in helping to chamfer the edges of the box....wasted never brought my camera along that day....think this weekend should be able to post some shots
  17. ya lor..habib is from salifert.... it's essentially the same what is being talked about there.... as alanseah put it... yes.. as stated by Craig Bingman "Epsom salts as a magnesium supplement will lead to an increase in the sulfate concentration of the water in the aquarium. The percentage change in sulfate concentration can be substantial" the substantial percentage change can be seen from my earlier numerical example lor... actually i dun think magnesium chloride is super duper hard to get....any bros have access to magnesium chloride?
  18. pharmacy can get... hmmm..might as well look for magnesium chloride in bulk for all of us to share?
  19. CL 19.8 g/l 19.4 SO4 2.8 g/l 2.7 Mg 1.3 g/l 1.3 say for sulphate 2.8g/l x 450 =1260g of sulphate in your 450litres of water.... magnesium 1.3g/l x 450 =585g of magnesium in your 450litres of water chloride 19.8g/l x 450 =8910g of chloride in your 450litres of water.... ------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------ just anyhow take a number....eg for 600g of magnesium sulphate...here are the new levels... magnesium= 585 PLUS 300 =885g sulphate= 1260 PLUS 300 =1560g (Increase in 23.8%) -------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- when you use 600g of magnesium chloride. here are the new levels.......... magnesium=585 PLUS 300 =885g chloride=8910 PLUS 300 =9210g (Incease in 3.37%) --------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- thus we can see that by the same magnesium increase in using 2 methods...one method (magnesium sulphate) will result in sulphate levels differing by 23.8% fron NSW levels whereas the other method (magnesium chloride) will result in only chloride levels differeing by 3.37% from NSW levels... i think the bottom line is that we try not to differ too much from NSW levels when we add stuff to our tanks... of coz the stuff in our tanks may get accustomed to increased sulphate levels....and we may not see any exaggerated side effects....but for me, i will feel it's better not to deviate too much from NSW levels.. disclaimer: i am not a chemist
