  1. weileong you should take pics of both resun md40 and iwaki md40 show us the internal parts....to see the difference in fabrication quality
  2. tat's why i say very weird...dun tell me it turbocharges itself under 50Hz condition...lol.. just kidding lah....i still think it runs at 350W although the sticker and your graph says otherwise.... better expect more consumption and overrate than to lower my expectations and kill myself when the next bill comes
  3. maybe this sticker does make sense now after seeing the graph but yet 1.58A x 220V = 347.6W hmmmm....weird...very weird... somemore under 50Hz, its power consumption is 240W (conforms to weileong's graph) but yet produces output power 260W... dun tell me MX100 turbocharges itself
  4. wa..the graph shows MX100 running 250W at peak? wow..better than i expected if you notice, at low resistance head (i.e. high flow rates)...the MX100 consume about equal wattage as MX70.......very very very interesting phenomenon okok....who has an AT now? can form an AT support group Hon (since September 2003--- 1 YEAR!) Roidan (since April 2004) Weileong (since April 2004) => got it on 29th April so still made it for Apr 04 lol. status update as on 23/9 still kicking jd_n (?) planetg (?) danano (?)
  5. ahhh..... okok.... the IC chip used for pump protection in other aspects ah.. i think i also get a RD 12m3 next time when planning a new tank to pumb water right up without going through all the flow-eating elbows, valves and mazelike pipeworks oh yeah...then also comes to the question of longevity....there is still a question mark on how long can the RDs last pass their warranty....i am a great fan of german engineering precision but it's a new product that hasn't gotten much usage mileage yet. as for iwakis....they are made to work under harsh chemical fluid conditions and ready testimonials of their longevity and reliability
  6. yeah...the red dragon has an IC chip to lower the wattage when the flow drops due to high head....but then again....end up getting less flow isn't it and working against one of the best selling point of the RD - very high flow...end up reducing wattage at the expense of high flow performance anyway..for a straight vertical ascension up from sump to tank....i also support 12m3 or 14m3
  7. draft calculations show 22.2 months for both to meet at equivalent point... Red dragon 12m3...high initial cost but lower running cost... Iwaki MX100.....lower initial cost but higher running cost... about 22.2 months is the cut-off.....after 22.2months..then you slowly save money as each day/month/year passes.....before 22.2 months....the iwaki is cheaper.... the 22.2 months is subjective due changes in prices of Red dragons and Iwaki pumps
  8. the RD12m3 vs the Iwaki 100RT-2 can definitely see the difference between pressure rated and non pressurated pumps.....for low running cost, RD12m3 wins hands down with 115W whereas the Iwaki 100RT-2 is in the region of 300W++ any point after *2.5m worth* of head the iwaki takes over....and the 12m3 flow rate drops off further thus for those with a simple direct vertical return from sump to tank, the red dragon is great as we seldom hit 2.5m distance from base of sump to entry point in tank... but for those that plumbs through elbows, Tees, valves and distances.....it is very easy to pass the 2.5m worth of head loss...in that case...the iwaki doesn't disappoint with it's gradual drop in flow rate despite facing resistance
  9. Iwaki Flowrates taken from flowrate calculators online under 1 inch pipeflow and 1 entry hole/ 1 exit hole conditions 100RT-2 (MD/MX 100) 70RT-2 (MD/MX70) 55RT-2 (MD55) 40RT-2 (MD40) should be rather close in performance
  10. ok...have been doing some pump comparison personally and ready to publish some consolidated results.... RD flow rates interpreted off their flowchart in their website and Eheim flow rates interpreted off the box of my Eheim 1262 dunno whether it would be useful to you guys or not...so i put in my thread first
  11. from my own experience, yes, in one form or another but of coz we can't use the same bamboo to hit the same boat of people
  12. okok....who has an AT now? can form an AT support group 1) Roidan (since April 2004) 2) Weileong (?) 3) jd_n (?) 4) planetg (?) 5) Hon (?) 6) 7) 8)
  13. mai tu liao.. let's go catch a few more... i pay for your airfare ooooops..both of us haven't pass diving license yet
  14. once installed ah... no lah..this one is i buy spare for future use....actually think of using it to replace some of the miscellanous pumps in the system....but might be too lazy to get down doing it. well, see how it goes lor
  15. yeah...gem tangs are also very fierce probably due to their solitary nature in the wild woohoo.. can't wait to open my present from weileong left one is his...right one is mine still on its way from HK....
  16. all convicted reefers will get a convict tang... courtesy of tang police...
  17. ya man ... 1k-2k minimum if die hor...can write off as bad CPF investment
  18. convict tang..so cute but must resist....maybe get rid of the good for nothing sailfin that is so obese and put in the convict tang instead
  19. oooops.... time to add a CONVICT tang... cos i am...convicted
  20. well..but at least sengkang reefers have some of cool cool skimmers around...er...you stay sengkang right? good news spread fast....congrats.... your side is german high tech gadgets....think..bubblebubble ...red mystical creature ... my side is american muscle with japanese technology.....think...beckett.....iwakis....hehehe
  21. best....dare not say lah...wait your bubblebubble blow mine away...hehe tallest....not really...shorter than CF...hehe biggest....also still a dwarf compared to CF... GF pipe...yeah...people pay 1k can see some skimmers liao.. i pay 1k see only grey grey GF pipes and valves...
  22. dispar: next time no need to type once u feel like giving a warning...just post this
  23. i believe alanseah is not pro-beckett in an unfair way...what he says is rather objective..... i know because his new skimmer is from the Bubble Dynasty
  24. this? use this as your avatar leh ...dispar
  25. try this.... http://search.yahoo.com/search?p=pvc+air+v...-t&cop=mss&tab= i myself also looking for similar looking ones because maybe wanna make spare injector housings.....i spend some time in the net also cannot find those that he use....if i need extra he say, he will get for me. that's all. guru is guru....find things also different from people...
