yeah.....i can mate the injector right down to the base unit's pipe to make it to a smaller unit. But seriously i dun foresee myself running the short version of it, so will be mounting it as per the tall design

well, there are many agendas running around. some use this as advertisement for their DIY products....using it as a free route selling products via the non-sponsor route...openly they are not saying that they are selling, but alot of underground monkey business going on. some use this to share what they want to share with others in here... some use this to let those DIYers without a conscience know that, whatever they can copy...the ones with real brains are always a few steps ahead. and of coz...many other agendas.... and of coz on the other hand, one gets true compliments, skepticism, sarcasm, or even sour grapes comments for watever matter he or she posts in the forum. if everyone was so homogenous, it would be a much simpler world to live in isn't it?

sunday night sunday night... a few more days to go....

yeah man.... must let people know that money cannot earn finish one.... no point compromising on one's principle and integrity just to get that bit of money. if truly help reefers save money by selling at cost, then maybe it's a good deed. but nowadays very hard to mark the line...alot of grey zones. if they wanna make money, make sure they contribute to the forum by being a sponsor. Here is where they find their customers and here should be where they contribute back to the running costs of the forum okok..enough educational talk.... 2nd test-firing on sunday tentatively...... will be back with pics

hahaha.... glad you are back.... can finally see from blueprint last time to physical shape taking place hor... i always see reefcentral with huge home skimmers.... let me do us singaporeans proud by showing them we have huge home skimmers too Anyway, this is a one and only project, no duplicates will be seen around unless *u know i know* happens this project is to showcase what singaporean DIY gurus can do....not what singaporean DIY gurus can sell

which is why they are pressure-rated pumps.....i realised many people happily buy pumps looking at the plain flow rate. But you must know that this flow is only at ZERO head. Once the flow undergoes resistance in the form of height, pipe, fluid type.....the flow rate drops alot for NON-pressure-rated pumps taking a look at the cost price and running cost will give u an idea of how long it takes if mx100 runs at 300+W, it will take about 22.2months or agar 2 years before it proves more expensive than the RD12m3...before 22.2 months.....12m3 is more expensive... if mx100 runs at 250W, it will take more than 3 years before it becomes more expensive.... of coz all these numbers will vary with prices which are sensitive to market conditions and bargaining...and for my personal interpretation only.... so please do not take my findings as a conclusive report and another factor i was pondering over was the longevity of the pumps. People have used iwakis for 8-10 years without going through pump failure...but the red dragons are new and do not have such mileage record yet. So it was green light for iwakis in this project
-
considered...but the price? hehehe below is my personal study on the 2 pumps published earlier in my tank thread. the RD12m3 vs the Iwaki 100RT-2 can definitely see the difference between pressure rated and non pressurated pumps.....for low running cost, RD12m3 wins hands down with 115W whereas the Iwaki 100RT-2 is in the region of 240W-300W++ any point after *2.5m worth* of head the iwaki takes over....and the 12m3 flow rate drops off further thus for those with a simple direct vertical return from sump to tank, the red dragon is great as we seldom hit 2.5m distance from base of sump to entry point in tank... but for those that plumbs through elbows, Tees, valves and distances.....it is very easy to pass the 2.5m worth of head loss...in that case...the iwaki doesn't disappoint with it's gradual drop in flow rate despite facing resistance A beckett injector is a very considerable restriction to freeflow and with the fact that my skimmer is very tall....red dragons would fail miserably for my application. Unless it's their pressure-rated white-line range of pumps which would mean more expensive cost again
-
untouchables... this is the answer to part of your question the other time if it's really good..u will see them as common feature on skimmers made by others in due time
-
thanks thc.... the main guru-in-charge is a design genius.... other gurus chip in with supplying unusual parts/accessories to this skimmer very honoured to have their help in this project
-
nice nice black screws.... no more hard-to-twist biege ones Whoa! I feel good, I knew that I would, I feel good, I knew that I would So good, so good, 'cause I got you thanks to another DIY guru for this Maybe can call this my Guru-fied Quattro Skimmer since it's the work of a few gurus

yeah man.... according to flubberina it was a couple if i am not wrong. Gee, i hope they are just children or in their teens. To take/use people's thing without asking/permission is stealing. Furthermore reefers like flubberina are so readily available in here via PM to ask for permission to use her photos. If flubberina is some far away ang mo reefer that is hard to reach and difficult and long to wait for her reply, then maybe we can still understand. But flubberina is always around in here. I see no reason why no effort was made to contact her prior to her photo being used. Should be the work of some rude newbies. I dun think the earlier reefers who know flubberina well will do such things.

i only been to the same Tokyo disneyland years back... but the 3 girls have not been to any disneyland yet... so is it better for them to spend one whole day at disneyland or the disneysea? can only choose one according to the itinery.
-
http://www.kaiyukan.com/eng/ ahhhhh..okok....if got time to break off from the tour maybe i go and see...coz i dun remember see it in the itinery. Only the Universal Studios Theme Park and Shinsaibashi shopping, Osaka Castle Park. can also see the whale shark in the website above thanks surfedelic
-
gam sia for the PM anyway i seriously doubt i will have time to break away from the 3 girls and do my own exploring...most probably be their shopping bags man nonetheless good to have the info....just in case
-
oh yeah... dun tell me the only *LFS* i end up going to is TOKYO DISNEYLAND and yeah.... i get to see marine fish... NEMO AND FRIENDS
-
Well, i read through the threads about japan in SRC and seems that the general consensus is that there is nothing worth exploring there with regards to lfs... nonetheless marinebetta went to this place.... http://www.sgreefclub.com/forum/index.php?...topic=19364&hl= Any other place that i should take note? Will be heading for Japan for a tour so not say alot of free time to explore, only certain evenings where they dump us to shop and eat on our own...hmmm... Anyway here is the rough itinery: Fukuoka Nagasaki Kumamoto Kagoshima Ibuzuki Osaka Kyoto Nagoya Tokyo dun think iwaki pumps are cheap in Japan itself hor

night time is party time for coral tentacles

sounds pretty reasonable what you have said....and you got the right to be unhappy. really cannot imagine people really getting down to using other reefer's names without permission and also other reefer's photos for their own selfish purposes, again without permission. It is absolutely RUDE to use other reefer's name or photo without prior permission and it only goes to show what kind of person you are or the upbringing you have. For the person who did this to flubberina. SHAME ON YOU. "printed some corals pic from my thread and went to bargain" wah...nowadays reefers are so enterprising ah. can waste the colour ink and print out and buay paiseh go to lfs to bargain. i seriously dunno to or to just comparing the reefing/lfs scene a year ago and now is vastly different.

well, no point to be sad... like you said, there are always rich and richer ones around who can afford everything they fancy... just like i wonder when can i afford a italian red ferrari....but well.... as long as one dun rob, cheat or steal, what he owns should give him happiness. 2ft owners are happy with their tanks, 4ft owners are happy with their tanks, 6ft owners are happy with their tanks...and farm owners are happy with their business.

wa, looks fat from the top maybe can rear it as a koi

http://www.sgreefclub.com/forum/index.php?...pic=23154&st=30 "Use to run this beckett on Resun MD55. No regret changing to MX70. Bubble produced are at least double." Sugi's words. which is rather true from what i observed. say the md55 (whether resun or iwaki) is about 1000gph and mx70 is about 1500gph... take for eg. md55 through a beckett injector produces 1000K bubbles....by proportion the mx70 should produce 1500K bubbles right? but no, it produces much more than that. In other words, for every increase in pressure flow across the injector, there is a higher than proportional increase in bubbles produced.
-
yeah..... can use a wide range of pumps. But for becket it is simple...the more powerful the pump the better the perfomance initially as you push water through one beckett injector, the higher the pressure from the pump, the performance increases at an increasing rate....and as you increase more and more (changing to bigger and higher pressure pumps)...there will be a point where the performance increases at a decreasing rate....that is where u probably be better off splitting off the pump power for another injector
-
no choice lah.... that's why i say once go into beckett school...cannot regret one...if regret better switch school. It is like going to a single-###### school and then regret it. Go ahead to change to co-ed school lor.. Life is full of choices. No one force us to enter the beckett school I left spray injection/needlewheel school to join the beckett school.

Anyway if i run 1 mx100 it is 0.24kw x 24 x $0.16 x 30days = $27.648 (240W assumption) or 0.30kw x 24 x $0.16 x 30days = $34.56 (300W assumption) ---------------------------------------------------------------------------------- running 2 mx100s would be $27.648 x 2 = $55.296 or $34.56 x 2 = $69.12

you are right...there will not be any nuclear reactors if the early nuclear physicists kept quiet about the possibilities of nuclear energy. people who study nuclear physics are probably not in the love of the money that this discipline can bring but rather to pursue their interests in this particular discipline out of thousands and thousands of higher disciplines out there. But you cannot deny the fact that although they do not harbour commercial intent over their nuclear knowledge, they are afraid of the information falling into wrong hands right? yes, by all means keep it confidential if some stuff are more sensitive than others. Just like if the information falls to some unscrupulous commercial entities, what is cheap may end up being resold as expensive. well, it's a money-driven world out there. No one is to blame. And no one should blame those who choose to and able to protect themselves and their knowledge
