in bubbleking's words Innovative Eigenentwicklung von Royal : die Eindüsungspfanne, verhindert das ungebremste Einwirbeln der Luftblasen in das Kontaktrohr. Von unten konisch angesenkte Löcher verhindern Verstopfungen very loosely translated using babblefish is Innovative self-development of Royal: the Einduesungspfanne, prevents that without brakes a eddies of the bubbles into the contact pipe. From down conical counterbored holes prevent blockages i summarise the above as: reduce over-turbulence and eddies to make the sieve is easy.... get a thick acrylic, cut a circle...drill suitable hole sizes... and chamfer the holes from the base..... but implementing it in the right way for a beckett design may not be too straightforward... but like i said...these gadgets, even if really improve performance, just help to improve skimming by a sheer small percentage. Just like some hardcore street racers who are particular even with a few bhp gain in perfomance even though their cars are already very powerful. hehe

temporary store in room first ..... dun wanna put in the hall coz weekend always alot of relatives around..... yeah..actually without those miscellanous gadgets already perform very well.....a beckett is a beckett...somemore powered by mx100, as a beckett user yourself, u need not be convinced further of how it will perform

hehe..yeah..anyway ..if i am not wrong..just $3 to test this feature...so just test lor...hehehe actually not really conclusive whether really helps a beckett or not because did not really have time to compare the difference as it was drizzling....there were more important and expensive gadgets to test... if i am not wrong, bubbleking's reason to have this is to reduce eddy turbulence of bubbles from their strong needlewheel red dragon pumps compared to the weaker aquabee/eheim needlewheels used by their competitors the quattro injectors just mounted for fun...not straightened or tightened properly...hehe.. will not be running quattro shorty lah..hehe anyway the shorty also around 1.1m or 110cm high

superman: u really got X-ray eyes....hehehe yeah...just to experiment lor...after all..how much does a toilet-size endcap cap cost...lol
-
just one of the many many experiments today..... today was gadgets-testing day looks familiar? may make this in nice nice acrylic soon
-
haha.. not much photo updates today..... drizzling, dun want to risk my camera getting corroded...lol but the update is all the stuff are at my place already... will set it up in a few days time...still need a few parts to really get this beast in motion. did alot of *experiments today*

wa..shoot nature ah bro? next time jio me along lor....i also like... we can go feed mosquitoes together
-
yo bro....try to change to a smaller pump like we discussed earlier today and find something like this to cover the drain or use the holey-endcap this is the kind from aquamedic to prevent those blockages

no lah...just very tired already time to get on with other things in life now that the reef is established... and time to mingle in mountain caves like the older reefbirds and gurus....
-
yah man... feeling very dulan seeing the forum over a year ago to its current state.... that's why before retiring from the forum scene, i buay lun liao.... wanna give a piece of my mind before i retire with my happy reef

actually why you want to keep the inner walls clean is because you want the nutrient laden bubbles/foam to bring organics up and pour over into the collection cup.. if the inner walls start to accumulate dirt and scum, it acts as a physical barrier for the smooth migration of the nutrient laden bubbles/foam upwards to be collected... the bubbles will burst prematurely upon hitting the dirt and scum inside the chamber instead of rising all the way to the top to be spilling over into the collection cup. This in itself is a form of bottleneck effect also

both are the same technology.... no point squaring off with each other

it is to partition between the swimming pool and the billiard room.... so the tank is in a way, below ground level, more or less like a basement tank between the basement billiard room and the swimming pool.... play billiard/pool, can see tank and swimming pool beyond it..... swim swim, can see tank and billiard room behind it really enjoy life sia

i just heard someone building a 3m by 1.4m by 0.6m tank with 50mm thick acrylic..... full aquamedic setup.... agar $40K.... these are the real dragons and tigers. Most of us here are small timers, small small timers
-
haha...yeah lor... that's why now i slow down alot on feeding... the fishes keep growing but the tank never grow must sign them up for marie france bodyline...maybe myself too with autocleaning devices that work from within the skimmer chamber itself....can say goodbye to cleaning skimmers from the inside liao
-
yeah lor.... well, they earn in USD, we earn in SGD... per dollar already 1.67 times numerically larger.... but u look at those with huge reefs over there....spend thousands in electrical bills....they should consider building dedicated powerplants just for their own use

there is a drain as with all skimmer cups nowadays...so accumulation of the skimmate into the cup is usually not the problem nowadays...can just put the end of the drain hose into the biggest toyogo tub if go for holiday...hehe next time do a new tank, really have to see the *fengshui* before deciding where to locate the tank....a backroom to hide all the equipment like AT does, also possibly near the toilet so that can drill a hole for the skimmate to dump straight to the toilet, somewhere so that i can plumb the cooling loop while keeping the chiller compressor out of the house using those commercial artica-type of compressors.... the *fengshui* of reefing
-
*pulls boss into a corner* you know, i know only those with dogs who are able to sit high atop their collection cups are enlightened to know it hor it's called...skimming to the state of nirvana....lesser mortals who haven't skim till the state yet wun know it yet sigh..blabbering nonsense again

after the main skimmer is done, will be embarking on mini-projects on this skimmer's maintenance as to maintain a tall skimmer is no joke.... a skimmer's efficiency will decrease when the foam chamber or inner neck of the collection cup is covered with dirt and scum. The objective is to prevent the build-up of these dirt and scum and thus delaying the need for frequent removal and cleaning of the skimmer collection cup. examples of commercially available units are like the Deltec Self-cleaning head for their large multi-needlewheel skimmers
