  1. i agree with marinebetta... i stayed in one of the hotels near the shinagawa train station in tokyo/japan... it's one of the main interchanges of the J-rail, shinkansen and so going to other parts of tokyo is very convenient.. but i am sure there are better places also. but this is just my personal experience during my recent trip map for your convenience
  2. yeah lor.... as long as zerocool has a skimmer that is adequate for his system, let's all be happy for him just like if one day i post say my camry uses a tank of petrol in a week, i will also get confuse if another bro say his car (even if also a camry) uses a tank of petrol in a month usage differs, that's why end-result differs..hehehe ok, let's move on
  3. ok lah.... to make things even easier: if zerocool gets only this amount of skimmate in a week as in the pics he show but yet his nitrates are very low = good skimmer for him liao if cookie's customers gets many many many many times this amount of skimmate but yet their nitrates are very low = good skimmer for them liao but if zerocool gets only this amount of skimmate in a week as in the pics he show but yet his nitrates still significant = not good enough for his system (inadequate) if cookie's customers gets many many many many times this amount of skimmate but yet their nitrates are still significant = not good enough for their systems (inadequate) bottomline: dun place too much emphasis on skimmate, go check your water
  4. i am totally with you on this one bro back to skimmers, my train of thought is that there is no point to compare equipment on face value be because like i am going to say again, what is best for one situation may not be best for another. just like if a bro here shows a picture of his water returns from his pump and another comes along and says...."my water returns in a day what you have in a week...." but actually the bro with the picture is only running a small tank whereas the latter one is running a large tank.... which is why i find comparing skimmate shots really meaningless, does it mean if i pour tons of fish food in my system and and my skimmer chuns out gallons and gallons of skimmate and yet nitrates is 100ppm, means that my skimmer is better than another skimmer who churns out less skimmate but nitrates is 0.something PPM? context is the key word for comparison lor, otherwise, it's pointless and unfair to say this skimmer is better or that skimmer is better... that is why i would prefer people to say things like: "I think this skimmer cannot make it because it cannot handle my system/loading condition" rather than "I think this skimmer cannot make it (and thus it is a lousy skimmer)" as long as the skimmer can meet one's requirements or even have capacity for more, why worry that there is a better skimmer elsewhere?
  5. ya, that's why i say there isn't a best skimmer out there because being best is subjected to the conditions that it is run in. just like your example Any chiller is a good chiller as it depends on whether you are cooling a pail of water or a swimming pool. all i am saying is that (using your chiller reference), there isn't a best chiller out there because a best chiller for cooling a pail of water isn't the best for cooling a swimming pool and also the best chiller for cooling a swimming pool isn't the best for cooling a lake... just like there isn't a best lighting system out there, because a FL isn't as bright as a MH and a MH isn't as bright as the sun. in even simpler terms, what is good for one man, isn't as good for the other. and similarly, what isn't good for one man is actually very good for another. All i am saying is that equipment have to be taken into context with the usage/operating situation/condition and not just by evaluating the equipment on face value and thus when you say the following to ZeRoC00l: no offense though but the skimmate you collected in 1 week is what some of my customers collect in 1 day on a md55. And requires no break in time. ie after installation only less than 5 minutes and its skimming out already. the situation where your customers collect in 1 day differs from what our friend here collects in one week. unless, you offer your customers' skimmers to run side by side in the same context and then your customers' skimmers skim in a day what his current skimmer skims in a week.... then, it's a fairer comparison and statement
  6. ya...seeing skimmate alone does little to tell how competent a skimmer is actually.... you can have a skimmer collecting tons of nasty goo but yet there are still stuff in the water column of the system that has yet to be skimmed and that means the skimmer is still not good enough for you. if you have a skimmer that somehow doesnt seem to be collecting as nasty stuff as others but yet parameters like nitrates are undetectable visually on testkits (simplest check), that means your skimmer is competent enough for your system. similarly there is no one best skimmer.... my previous AquaC Ev240 or H&S 150-F2001 would probably be considered as very competent for some tanks and users may feel it is the best for their tanks.. but use the same *best* skimmer on a system like mine with heavy loading/feeding and it's easy to see why the *best* gets a weak/under competent performance and similar using my current skimmer on a farm like CF is definitely inadequate and thus this *best* skimmer on my system ends up a flop in a more demanding situation. as such, the better or best skimmers are the ones that are competent enough to handle one's individual system/loading situations. and what is the easiest way to find out? a very simplified way is to check your nitrates...irregardless of whether you are using DSB, macroalgae, denitrator, zeovit system ....as long as your test kit shows visible colour, it just means that there are still too much remaining nutrients that your methods cannot cope and that means the current skimmer you are using is inadequate. solution, get a skimmer that can handle more than the current one
  7. good... i scared your fengshui master say this year better for you to keep dogs then u listen... because giving up marine and dogs not entirely the same. our marine fishes/corals do not tend to feel the kind of attachment that our dogs have to us... in our lives, we may have the fortune to give love and care to a few dogs in their livetimes....but for a dog, it has its whole life to give love to us. In other words, we are their everything. to give it up just because of fengshui doesn't favour us having one in a particular year or two sure doesn't sound responsible. but nonetheless, hope to see you back in reefing a year later ps: rumour gorgor, hope u put those prospective buyers thru intensive interviews before u part away with these cuties.....bfs or husbands who buy these cuties just to please their gfs or wives are tops on the No-No list
  8. wah...dun be rash leh bro.... if this year your fengshui master say good for dogs and u buy...but next year not good for dogs then u end up selling again ah.... dun lah...it's ok to let fengshui give suggestions, but dun let it run your life leh.... if you love this dog and can give it the love and care it deserves, buy it and care for it, irregardless of whether the coming years are good or bad for you to have dogs around never ask whether the dog deserves oneself. but whether oneself deserves the dog

  14. hehehe so did u managed to secure the feed with white tape?
  15. u mean the current one ah Three Cheers for the quattro designer under the sky, Seven for the other gurus in their halls of stone, Nine for organics doomed to die, One for me on my dark throne, In the Land of Sengkang where the quattro lies. One skimmer to rule them all, One skimmer to find organics, One skimmer to bring them all and in the bubbles bind them In the Land of Sengkang where the quattro lies.
  16. personally when i used both aquaC and H&S, both were skimming together and i did not notice the so called shut down effect of one on the other.....the best part is that when i took out out for cleaning or maintenance, i still have another one serving the system. another theory why both were skimming together could also be that there were simply too much organics to be shared by both skimmers that neither one could shut out the other skimmer
  17. selling the following 1) used Teco TW6 chiller (RA 680) 2) used Coralife UV sterilizer 12x 36W (3pcs) - selling because got Ultralife Ozonizer from a friend please PM me for discussion and details if u need any. Thanks
