  1. how about using MH without chiller and without fan?
  2. dun save on it..other pumps may be cheap..but actual flowrate is much less especially after height difference....and somemore eheim got very good warranty...go for it...
  3. i will observe a 6 week no-newfish-addition silence in my tank....
  4. not bad..just that it seems that it will take up lots of space
  5. sob sob..busy these days worrying over my powder blue....it wasn't bullied, just did not want to eat...always lingering around the front glass and not hiding, i wonder what it was thinking..... may not get another powder again....my baby will be my one and only powder sigh...
  6. wah..congrats to the owner of the new black clowns ...very nice clowns
  7. great pair of clowns..too bad selling more than $100..out of my budget.hehe
  8. i share your pain..my baby powder hasnt been eating much..now got ich already....sigh....it's the beginning of the end....
  9. can give a more complete pic of the clam? to see the complete shell pattern?
  10. to use ozone safely, u need an orp meter to ensure that ozone doesnt wipe out your whole tank..hehe
  11. yeah..anyway the dimmables are cool...brighten up slowly...avoiding lighting shock to your corals and fish...even if you use mh next time..the dimmable t5s will still be useful..hehe
  12. its stops ich in its free floating stage.... it doesnt eradicate ich....but gives your fishes a better chance in fighting it
  13. if take a light meter and wanna compare mh bulb and t5 tubes...u will take a few t5 tubes to match with a single mh bulb....in that sense, you can already add up the cost of a few t5 tubes and will be more expensive than a mh bulb...and also the total wattage of the t5 tubes together will be higher than the mh bulb..meaning more electricity costs.... coz the t5 gives light to the whole length of the tube whereas the mh bulb is a concentrated point of light like the sun....so if you measure only a spot...like the spot where a sps or clam may be situated, the t5s cannot provide enough intensity to it....
  14. very good for lps and mushrooms under this lighting...
  15. as long as your deltec hood was made for deltic T5 tubes..using the same wattage ATI tubes will not hurt
  16. can....some german reefers are doing it..but they use up to 4 pieces of T5s for small tanks...and even up to 8 pieces of T5s for 3 to 4 foot tanks.... it is not impossible..but not very cost efficient other than the fact that they run way cooler than mh..
  17. seems that you have alot of problem with regards to lighting.... do yourself and the sps a favour...stay away from sps for now..i mean just for now..since you cant go mh or at least some decent T5s.... you dun have to give up reefing...just keep the other stuff except SPS.......and even if you do get T5s..you need a few tubes of T5s to provide adequate intensity.... anyway...you can tell your dad that ferraris are good...why most car agents not selling them? hehe..just kidding...
  18. you cannot use CR ballast for T5 ...totally different types....even in the case that you can do it..your t5 tubes will get damaged faster than using a proper t5 ballast... not worth it...t5 tubes are expensive..use a proper ballast please
  19. diatoms appear when there are silicates normally...got little to do with your nitrites level..
  20. i washed 15 bags...each bag at a time...about 5-6 times rinsing for each bag....after washing each bag in a small toyogo tub...then empty it into a big toyogo tub before washing the next bag again.... tiring of course....but...i dun wanna take chances with my sand..hehe
  21. then either keep brown sps or just stay away from sps for the moment lor...hehe....u cannot have the best of both worlds....
  22. hehe...the sps gurus here will ask you to go mh instead...unless you just want to have brown sps
