T5 seems good enough if shallow...i am putting my clams in my sump....the lamps to the water surface about 5 inches and the clams mantles are about 3inches below the water surface...that means the light travels 5inches of air and 3 inches of water before hitting the clam mantle.. according to edmund's website....2 54W using the parabolic reflectors give about 36600 lux....using a spot lightmeter...so it may just be sufficient..but of coz MH will be better....or use 3 or 4 T5s...hehe alot of factors come into place here....

actinics may be too bright for moon simulation also...that time tot of using a small cold cathode tube for moonlight ...but not realistic leh...moon should be a single white spot of light...best is the white ultra bright LED..1 is enough...too bright...then become dawn/dusk effect liao.hehe

bwilly the blue tub definitely u can borrow when i am done using it..no problem...

no need lah...its mainly to light up the tank before the MHs go on and after the MHs go off...hehe dun want to use so much electricity also...54w also bright enough for my liking liao... timing might be like this... 9am T5 blue on.... 9.30 center MH on... 10am left and right MHs on (3MHs) 10.30am T5 off 8.30pm T5 on 9pm....left and right MHs off 9.30pm center MH off 10pm T5 off dunno leh..i prefer very blue blue...hehe never mind lah..at most change to actinic next time lor...but the purplish of the actinic i dun quite like..hehe...personal preference lah
