  1. i am running the same 3x54w all sunpro in my sump... maybe we can switch tubes to test test next time...lol...
  2. then faster go take a reading with all your current lights..so that u know the benchmark....when it falls below a certain reading next time...u know its time to change..hehe
  3. yeah..t5s are great for shallow waters... anyway, how many pieces and what is the wattage of each tube you are using? that will help bro transit further
  4. gotten yourself into the endless pit bro..hehe hmm..maybe can borrow lightmeter from some bros here lor... when intensity falls then change lor...hehe.. who has a lightmeter? heheh
  5. can lah..anyway..sump seldom got people see one..how u slant....as long as u happy...no one going to complain..hehe
  6. started many years back already...different versions...different countries..but essentially the same thing...SCAM
  7. your sump portion that houses the macroalgae how long..maybe just use PLs lor...since u feel T5s more expensive to replace..hehe anyway, i was using PLs in my old 2ft sump last time...macroalgae also grow....so T5 may be overkill lor...IMO
  8. actually macroalgae likes strong lighting as well...so squeeze as many T5s as u can lor...actually i wanted to put 4 tubes...but the reflectors take too much width..so max was 3tubes lor....hehe
  9. DIY? u mean commission me to do ah....you might as well do it yourself... just get the osram eballast....reflector and tubes can get from edmund...then just wire them up using the single core keystone cable lor..if u want, i can give you some cables..i got extra...hehe
  10. the normal anthias with the y shape tails lor...think its dispar anthias .not too sure... anyway, are sunburst anthias nice? today saw one...but thought nothing of it..maybe the lighting wasn't so good to see the sunburst marks on the head..hehe
  11. some clowns...some anthias... tangs pass to fren as alot of rocks have been brought to 6ft....so can't afford these poo monsters in the tank..lol
  12. hehe...yeah...meanwhile i will dose calcium and keep the calcium levels high....will let you know when they start to turn white.. thanks....that's what my family said too...now they come home also feel happier..... anyway..when your new tank is here...i can pass you some sand from my current 4ft to seed your sump also.....
  13. i using this method for my sump...hehe untidy..YES...but gets the job done..hehe 3x54W ATI T5 sunpros may use 2x54W aquablues for my 4ft tank now.. no corals in them....just soft lighting for the fishes..hehehe
  14. ATI tubes with Osam eballast...so not considered DIY also leh...not considered readymade also...half-half..hehe
  15. not every type lah...most lah.. to be sure....u go to online reef guides to check the light requirements of the corals u are going to buy before really buying them... a guide can be found at www.liveaquaria.com they will tell you the light and water flow requirements and even placement position in the tank
  16. bro blenny: i may move out the MH above the 4ft holding your branches now to the tank outside....in place i will put 2x54W T5s aquablues and i will try to lay the branches as flat on the sandbed as possible to expose them to as much light as possible to prevent coraline dieoffs... dun want you to collect and end up collecting white branches....but even if so, dun worry..coraline will come back in plaque proportions once your tank is established thanks for the meetup today
  17. in fact most other stuff can be kept with T5.... like i just said in the PM to u, maybe u can try keeping derasa or squamosa and if they do well, then u can try the other clam types...but as for SPS, u should listen to AT's advice... cheers
  18. but if the transaction was electronic and done through internet shopping..how would they know ah.....what an interesting topic
  19. bro transit: yeah.actually a good advice is to try soft corals or LPS with the 2x24W T5s and if they thrive and you decide to invest further...then you can spend more on lights and chiller... but then again.since you already set your targets high on clams and sps...why not bite the bulllet and go straight to Mh and chiller...in that sense you need not lose money upgrading later on...
  20. yeah lor..coz this bro also did PM me asking about this issue before he started this thread... i already advised him to go MH and chiller for the longterm good of the clams or sps...but he keep mentioning T5, T5 and T5...hehe he seems pretty fixated on T5s...and after so much advice from other bros...he still likes his 2x24W T5 option...so bo bian lor.... already say MH and chiller is the way to go..but he dun wanna take that path mah..hehe
  21. terry...he already said MH out of the question for him coz of the heat and he not going to get a chiller...hehe so let's all just end this issue by saying a unanimous YES to him and let him be happy
  22. get those bluer or greener one mah..all brownish type quite sian to look at one...hehe
  23. not too bad..buy from your farmway 1 farms ah
  24. yeah...i have them under 3x54W =162W currently...all ATI sunpro 6900K the lights are about 5 inches above the waterline and the clams mantles are about 3inches under the water line....and i still think the clams will enjoy more light...so the light penetrate 5inches of air before punching through 3 inches of water to reach the clams go figure
  25. i saw a sunburst anthia at $25..wonder why so expensive...not say very special leh..hehe
