yeah man..he is probably the only marine walking encyclopedia in here...hehe
-
i think connecting the chiller in series is definitely out of the question lor....at least in parallel still got chance that they draw water at twice the rate of 1 chiller provided they dun *short* each other out in a way.... but from all the views..think should be confirmed that 2 chillers may not work well in reality..hehe
-
bro alanseah is right also....no way to tell which one is not functioning.... when one deteriorates..the other just picks up more work to do..until both go dead...then end up have to replace 2 chillers...hahaha
-
bro deepblue? wat 2000th reply?
-
wahh..nice..yeah man..the wiring really messy...but great to be able to keep in the new cabinet now...if not ah...aiyo...wife sure shake head..hehe
-
disadvantage is that maybe not as efficient lor.. but then again...if got 2 chillers...means that the water drawn into the chilling system (2 chillers) is more than the single larger HP chiller.... coz i dun really see those 1HP chillers drawing water into it at twice the rate of the 1/2HP chillers right? just that they cool the same amount of water into the chiller much faster than the 1/2 hp ones... hmmm..idea idea...
-
temp controller? the thermostat u mean? should be quite low wattage right? not too sure...but the 2 chiller can really back up each other...one bring to service..the other can work abit harder.... even on normal usage....each chiller work less long because more water got processed faster
-
bro tanggy...your idea quite unique... any bros here got opinions on running 2 chillers? i am already running 2 skimmers....running 2 identical chillers may not be too impossible also..hehehe
-
bro tanggy: till now i still very happy with the teco 680....i am sure you are too..hehe doesn't seem to be straining the teco680 alot even though my volume quite high...... my next chiller will be a teco still...if i have the $$...then 1hp teco here i come...hehe

better not lah..wait really become a pest algae then i genna blame.... got many other types of macroalgae suitable for use
-
haha... aiyo..then i must have thrown a fortune away liao..... never mind....heng still got some in the refugium..isolated strands... when the 150W MH is here...wohoho.....mai tu liao.... since it's so uncommon in here...i'll give it a local name... *The hair with split ends and unmanageable curls* algae....hahahaha maybe use p@ntene can make it straighter and more manageable...LOL
-
agree with you bro AT, maybe cookie did not introduce alot of phosphates via food or top up water thus the amount of kalkwasser he added was just enough to precipitate out the phosphates in his tank....or maybe his macroalgae? his top up water is using kalkwasser which probably already precipitated all the phosphates in there....and then if he happen to feed with not so much phosphate laden food, then it probably worked for him agree also tat aluminium oxide is not as good as iron oxide....i used to buy seachem phosguard...but after reading the possible aluminium leaching in regular/long term use, i scared liao..hehe
-
hehe.... yeah..i read before about the phosphate precipitation when adding kalkwasser....but then..unless we encourage alot of evaporation, the amount of kalkwasser top up we use may not be able to remove the phosphates that we add in through our food.... especially when i feed very heavily, definitely need some iron oxide stuff to remove it.....but the kalkwasser top up may help in a way also....at least help the iron oxide last longer... kalkwasser is definitely less expensive...hehe

yeah man....me law abiding citizen...dun want to get into trouble with any anthias or tang police....
-
bro...meaning you are the expert...the master in anthias..hehehe authority mah..means alot of power and knowledge..hehehe
-
yeah man....now even bartlett join in, princess anthias join, dispar...aiya..mass congregation... and i lost half my refugium and resulting in my phosphates rising....sigh.. must balance feeding and letting the refugium get back to peak export rate again....sigh...ahhhhh wah..but you are really the authority in anthias bro...salute
-
yeah man..do help bro weileong... as for me...i always like to buy more and keep spare...thats why i need a mass cleanup of my storeroom soon..... an example, i bought an eheim 1250 to feed my H&S and then come home realise i could have used the same existing 1250 feeding my UV sterilizer and then feed into the skimmer...lol..... no wonder i really need my gf in my life...i sux totally at finances...i'll gladly let her hold all the purse-strings next time....lol
-
yeah..which was what i mentioned...doesnt look like those dreaded hair algae in the net...but well, it does look like strands of a lady's hair with terrible split ends and unwanted curls..hehee you are right bro AT, much thicker than the mossy hair algae but thinner than the chaeto...in a way, it looks more like thick human hair than the hair algae in the net.... growth rate? wow..i think can fight with chaeto liao....when my 150W MH comes...i think they will grow in clumps and strands again.... nope...never turn white...never turn gray..always the same bright green....in fact...after the mass cleanup, i realised my phosphate levels went up abit....i think coz the algae mass already decimated by my foreign talent...abit regret now to throw so much away...lol.. but meanwhile bought the biophos2 to hold back phosphate till my refugium go back to top form again

this is the best i can go liao..before the image go blur when they are in clumps..really look like the algae ID pic above....wasted i throw many of them away liao....now isolated strands here and there

ID of the stringy algae....some really rare name... http://www.algaebase.org/SpeciesDetail.lasso?-KeyValue=39610 i believe it is this one.....unless i ID wrong again...hehe but bro maxima also told me that it's not hair algae.... one thing i noticed this algae is tat it likes to clump togehter with my sea lettuce and gracilia.....but it never turn asexual before and did not see traces of it in my main tank before... but watever the case, still good to clean up the refugium once in a while Origin of species name Adjective (Latin), having tufts of long weak hairs (Stearn 1973). Common names used in commerce, often for edible algae hige-ao-nori {Jap} wah...maybe they migrate to main tank i also dunno...the tangs keep pecking at rocks also..maybe eating these...but either way....this is edible algae according to the site but no way i am going to try

bro, you say you still waiting mah.....hehehe never mind lah..i share half half with you first lor...when you buy another bag...then pass half back to me ... can lah..we stay quite near....any supplies can lend each other first
