bro cookiemonster... given 2 identical compressor units, both with same essentail parts, but one made into a normal inline and the other using dip-in coil.. what will be the differences? especially in performance
-
at this point must advice people to get thick glass for sump...esp if wanna put alot of sand in the sump DSB, minimum 10mm for a large sump
-
yeah hor...10% expansion.. but then if we put the temp probe in the sump, it would cut off the chiller below set temperature, how will it ever reach ice point even if the return pump is not working?
-
ah....good point also... but if it's due to power failure, then the chiller would stop as well.. but if it's due to individual pump failure...only the sump will freeze up and form a big ice cube...lol.. very interesting...lol... but other than these problems... how about cooling perfomance...will such dip-in cool water faster than inline chillers?
-
direct TOPUP WATER...hahaha idea hor
-
ah.....commercial really commercial... so we just have to make a drainpipe to our drainholes... pretty messy i guess... but for bros setting up new tanks, perhaps can consider this direct dip-in path... ok...meanwhile, artica rules in this thread
-
yeah hor.. maybe we should ask them to use tunzes to improve flow to remove the frost. .and we get to eat healthier steamed fishes seriously i seen such seafood tanks with small compressor units that maintain at 22-23 deg with no strain....maybe they every week call repairman for servicing...that i dunno...hehe but then again..some of those seafood tanks already very high flow..can see the flow of water churning particles around in the tank... but that means as long as we get good flow in our tanks....such coils really do have such cooling ability ah...wah...
-
never mind lah bro weileong, dun dwell on the previous chiller liao lah...wait more people out there end up sad...hehe the anthartica days are now here..right in your tank cooling your precious
-
ah...tat's a good point to consider bro... at least it is a logical viewpoint but according to eaquarist thread, this chiller been around more than 10years...easily so because of such direct coil method have probably been cooling our seafood tanks for longer than that... but in terms of cooling performance, i really wonder if such direct coil can cool faster due to this method...and u save another cost of running the feed pump which in terms add to the heat also maybe we should just stop eating live seafood from restaurants that you can see a visible coil in their tanks
-
freeze up lor....lol.... i have even seen such coils covered with a layer of FROST in the tank...imagine the temperature pull-down?
-
yeah...but wat is the exact reason? i mean there must be a logical explanation why people tell u not to. after all, if its dangerous, look at the seafood tanks around, if such cooling poisons the fish, aren't we ingesting the poison too?
-
but then even with conventional in line chillers, you pump the water into internal titanium coils for cooling also, am i wrong? hehe can explain why not safe from what you heard? so instead of pushing water into the chiller and flowing pass the coil, this chiller put the whole coil in the tank.... hmmm...i often see this kind of direct coil cooling method in seafood tanks... but of coz dip in our main tanks will be ugly... but...dip into the sump will be hidden any input bro weileong?
-
aiyo..i foresee a flood in supply of such 2nd hand units..hehee faster sell before the big depression kidding lah
-
actually how about such chillers ah... http://www.aqualogicinc.com/ The Cyclone ® Water Chiller with Drop-In Titanium Coil • 5 ft. Flexible Refrigeration Line • No Plumbing Required • Remote Helix Titanium Coil • Fresh or Saltwater Use • Quiet Operation • Black ABS Cover • Ozone Friendly Refrigerant (134A) • Requires Temperature Controller • For Commercial or Home Aquarium • Ideal for Aquaculture or Hydroponics best part is that there is no plumbing needed...just dip the titanium coil in direct cooling with the water....will it cool faster due to the direct contact?

dunno leh..they are funny creatures..bloat or not never mind ..as long dun turn into a mush can liao..hehe aiya...i seldom take pics of that corner of the tank mah...so just take from my AT folder lor... -

mine looks like this...another one on the other side of the tank does not have such bloated properties.... -
hmm..then why not s80? i tot "volvo for life"? hehe... jap gals... so kawaii

abit off tangent with that choice lah.. if u notice..bro tanzy is considering beemer or merc to add to his family stable of upmarket cars/luxury cars.... no offense to subaru legacy....but it's not quite there in the same league yet
-
yeah...best is still personal judgement... anyway bro tanzy, i dunno much about the pricing...but you dun want to consider black ES300?
-
haha..not me..i declare first
-
yeap..most cars nowadays have pretty bad back views..but wat the heck...rely more on the reverse sensors lor...as long as there is a wall to feedback the sensors.... if there is a pole...then really have to base on own judgement liao... if u think the 530 is bad ..wait till u test drive the rx300...totally no sense of what is behind...even a sec school kid walking behind also cannot see

our boss AT's AT, dispar's AT and my AT all from the same batch... all have nice orange teardrops.... dispar's AT have succumbed....mine is still a brave fighter...still in battle..but holding on...whereas AT's AT is enjoying in the sps paradise.... yeah...coralfarm's ATs are feeding well...but their teardrop sizes and shapes are not very nice
