  2. hi heckers, in a reef setup i am not too sure, maybe u can ask AP who has used it in a reef tank... i am using them to clean my clam shells and provent algae from growing in the clam tank where there are no natural algae eaters.. http://www.liveaquaria.com/product/prod_Di...d=23&pCatId=625 Sally Lightfoot Crab (Percnon gibbesi) Care Level: Easy Tank Conditions: 72-78°F; sg 1.023-1.025; pH 8.1-8.4; dKH 8-12 Temperament: Semi-aggressive Max. Size In Aquarium: Up to 3" Reef Compatible: Yes Diet: Omnivore Origin: Caribbean, Atlantic Ocean Family: Grapsidae The Sally Lightfoot Crab is also known as the Nimble Spray, Short, or Urchin Crab. It has a brown body, with orange to yellow rings on the legs. It actually belongs to a family of shore crabs, however, it is less likely than the other genera to go on land. Its carapace is very flat. which allows it to hide in small crevices within rock work. It prefers a strong current and will require a large aquarium with large amounts of rock work where it can hide and scavenge for detritus. It will also eat algae. When large, it can become aggressive and catch and eat small invertebrates and fish. If insufficient algae is present, its diet may need to be supplemented with dried seaweed. Meaty items should also be offered
  3. yeah.... anyway...the hermit crabs are the only crabs in my main tank together sallyfoots are in my clam tank and some i place in the sump, and pass some away already
  4. AP: for your benefit my hermits bought on 21March and posted in great detail, link below... http://www.sgreefclub.com/forum/index.php?...ic=7509&st=2730
  5. AP: I think the article and url link has the answers to your questions Care Level: Easy Tank Conditions: 72-78°F; sg 1.020-1.025; pH 8.1-8.4; dKH 8-12 Temperament: Peaceful Max. Size In Aquarium: Up to 2" Reef Compatible: Yes Diet: Omnivore Origin: Hawaii Family: Diogenidae The Halloween Hermit Crab originating from the Hawaiian Islands, is bright orange with red banding. They are a very colorful addition to the marine aquarium, and they aid in eating any left over food that may settle on the substrate. These crabs live in abandoned snail or triton shells, or it may resort to attacking and eating a snail so it can use the shell for its home. The Halloween Hermit Crab is a valuable addition to an aquarium because it will eat algae including green hair algae and cyanobacteria. In addition, it provides valuable aeration by sifting through the sand. These Hermit Crabs can become destructive in a reef aquarium when they attain a large size. If there is an insufficient amount of algae present, the Halloween Hermit Crab will need to be fed dried seaweed, as well as meaty items such as mysis shrimp. to trust them or not..up to the reefer personally lah..but i feel that in any case when i decide to remove them...just pop into the tank and get them out...they dun dive into dens like fishes do....so it's much easier to remove them as and when you like
  6. er..if i cannot tahan..will have a 2ft cube sps reef up by the end of the year if i can tahan...then just maintain what i have now lor
  7. Alfa: i know u like it...will see one in your tank soon AP: Halloween Hermit Crab (Ciliopagurus strigatus) http://www.liveaquaria.com/product/prod_Di...=23&pCatId=1639 The Halloween Hermit Crab originating from the Hawaiian Islands, is bright orange with red banding. 8. in that case if you want the 4ft MH to cover 4x4...u gotta hang it abit higher...otherwise, some areas will be too dark and some areas will be too bright.. you will need to find a sweet spot (height) so that all of your tank gets the light as equally as possible have fun with the lights
  9. about time to get new shells for the hermits end of update
  10. yeah, it's not widely used here, maybe u can wait for morgan to share his mangrove experience with us
  11. i think morgan is successful because he uses natural sunlight...mangroves i believe need strong lights to grow well...u can try using a MH to grow them... but i feel that they gain mass slowly and not really good for nutrient export... just my personal opinion..others may differ
  12. when u say filter do you mean canister filter? if so, my guess is that 8 hours is too long for non movement of water and the water in the canister becomes dead and stripped of all oxygen and all the beneficial bacteria will start to die off... but if you mean the sump with DSB as filter...then if you use anotther battery powered air pump to bubble air in the sump also....then u can reduce die offs... means aerating the main tank and sump individually till power comes back on not too sure, hope other bros contribute their opinions
  13. *slurp slurp* haven't see your new MH, i start to drool already... remember to take closer pics all around the MH when u get it, coz most brochure pics only have the whole length view..but not much on the other angles and anyway, did you buy 2 sets? coz 1 set will be only good for say a 4ft (L) x2ft (W)coverage, you will need 2 to cover 4ft by 4ft
  14. bro riot yeah, it is an established brand with half a century of track record...not some overnight startup biz hmm...how about letting us know if you are including the feed pump, even if not, what feed pump are u using now? the buyer may have to factor this into the cost as well
  15. yeah..tat's the spirit u got alot of incoming exciting equipment to share with use....like the MH, how can just leave like that... welcome back
  16. For setting the chiller thermostat After pressing the SET key, the indicator light "6" will appear for a few seconds to indicate that the programming function is enabled and the previously set temperature will appear in the display. Press the up and down keys ("3" and "4") to change to the desired temperature, and then confirm the value by pressing the SET key again. The new temperature should appear in the display. The indicator light "5" shows that the indicator is working. Please note that there is a pre-set differential of 2o C above the temperature set by the user in model RA2000 and 1oC above the temperature set by the user in all other models.
  17. Installation next to an aquarium with a mechanical filter 1. Installation procedure is exactly the same as for installing the cooler next to an aquarium with an external filter but the water intake hose ("1") goes straight into the cooler. 2. To ensure that water going through the cooler is clean, it is important that the hose which takes water from the aquarium is placed after the mechanical filtration system so that it only takes in filtered water. bro riot, hope these info will hasten your sale and save you some aftersales service in case the buyer needs these placement info
  18. For depicted use below Installation next to an aquarium with an external filter 1. Make sure that the cooler is placed in a well ventilated location, away from sources of heat and that there is at least a 20cm gap between the ventilation grilles and the wall or any other item. 2. The cooler should be situated below or on a level with the aquarium and as close as possible to the aquarium to avoid having to use long water connection hoses. 3. Never place the chiller on carpet, rugs or any other similar items as this particular unit takes in air underneath the unit and this operation could be compromised if positioned on such a surface.
  19. In case the prospective buyer wants to put into a cabinet....take note of the pic attached below: RA680 have an air intake grille at the back of the unit and an air outlet grille at the front of the unit. The coolers should be placed with these ventilation grilles in alignment with those of the cabinet, as shown in the above diagram and the ventilation grille at the back of the unit should be placed as close as possible to the grille of the cabinet. If the cabinet does not have built in ventilation grilles then they will need to be made, allowing a minimum surface area of at least 400 cm2 for the passage of air. When making these grilles, be sure to bear in mind that the air intake grille (marked "A" above) should be exactly aligned with the ventilation grille on the back of the unit, while the air outlet grille (marked "B" above) should be placed as high as possible. To ensure that water going through the cooler is clean, it is important that the hose which takes water from the aquarium is placed after the mechanical filtration system so that it only takes in filtered water. If you see below...hot air is blowing out of the hoses side, meaning it's RA680, if the cold air is drawn from the hoses side and hot air blown out in reverse direction to the pic below, then its the TW6 model barring any further confirmation from bro riot, we take it as RA680 first
  20. remember wat you posted at TTboy's sale of the same chiller? seems like you have selective amnesia isn't it? so why did u post over there when u can tell me not to post here when u posted over there, nobody mentioned that you shouldn't post there.... this comment of yours is very , so only u can post anywhere you like right? off topic i know paiseh bro riot... anyway, upz for your sale again
