  1. wah..then i bet you must have drove past reefworld on the way to pac marine equally long....wow.... never mind, now u know where liao, you can make one more stop..
  2. who say sure cannot find? Acanthurus dussumieri Preef brought one in not too long ago....same batch as my Achilles tang
  3. bubble: you sure u going tomorrow? normally pasir ris farms on mondays are like just genna ravaged like war like dat, genna plundered and such...coz of the crowds on sat/sun...hehe AP: but Reefworld around quite long liao...tot u are their long time customer by now..hehe..never mind...better late than never...so 20 over years ago when u started the hobby...you buy from where one? wa liew..20 over years ago i still playing transformer dun worry lah..no need bodyguard one..u 大姐大, show them a few karate chops...all run away... like my 大姐flubberina, no need karate, can charm anyone with some sweet words, all genna charmed and give her discount one
  4. you drive in from the main gate...the first one on your right
  5. is irwana that side one..same compound.. it's ok lah..before you hit 20 years in this hobby..u will know where, in fact i think u all already been there, just never notice the name
  6. wah AP, you in this hobby 20over years liao, how can not know where is Reefworld? hehe somemore at pasir ris, near your territory
  7. yeah..tat place got huge tangs now and then.. tat time me and bwilly go there gai gai, saw a huge vlamingi tang. fat and big. more than 12inchs long....looked very ready to be steamed
  8. from the body shape is close to orange shoulder tang shape....so maybe not so popular with the colour also...i dun think as rare as the gem tang though...since you got space still, u can think of the gem tang as well
  9. now only 2 orange shoulders, so cannot call a school mah..must more than 2....u get a baby one lor... so the existing 2 are the parents..and the small cute one in tow...that will make up your school of orange shoulder tangs
  10. cannot lah.....for me...calling them school still sounds manageable...hehe wait till i hit 50 anthias then can upgrade to shoal...hehe.... are those orange shoulder tangs i saw? then you can add 1 more and have a school of orange shoulder tangs liao
  11. actually dun think got other collective nouns for fishes hor... have to use schools of fish or shoals of fish only...hehe
  12. really ah....anything more than 2 is a school ah... then i must have been underclassifying the anthiases...hehe what is larger than a school of fish ah? a shoal?
  13. yeah...CR is useful...LPS and not to mention coraline takes up alot of calcium too...and clams.....u dun underestimate coraline algae, imagine how much calcium and carbonate ions are used when the rocks are coated with them... not using kalkreactor, sometimes i do add kalkwasser powder to my top up water to slowly use up my kalkpowder that i had before the calcium reactor came along.. my calcium reactor is in my thread part (I).... you wun go wrong with a korallin CR or deltec fluidised CR
  14. sps generally are more sensitive to water parameters than lps and other corals...thus they are classified under more difficult corals to keep....more so in beginner tanks like mine when there is an overzealous attempt to keep as many fishes as possible... and nutrient loads and sps dun happily go hand in hand take nitrates for example, i used to get 0.something PPM level before i started stocking heavily.... nowadays it is maintaining at around 5 PPM which i feel is never a good parameter for sps and yeah...the trend now is towards sps because in the past, sps knowledge wasn't really readily available as well as good equipment and so the demand wasn't that great in the past, but now prices of sps colonies have jumped several folds in comparison to prices of yesteryears... moreover, sps require high intensity good lighting which are not cheap, calcium reactors and other stuff that are not cheap also, thus all these financial price tags automatically place sps-reefs on the upper strata of reefkeeping and thus there is a *prestige* that comes together with it and thus gets more limelight as well thus, both static and dynamic beauty are equally beautiful. It's like comparing the French Alps to Mount Fuji. Both beautiful in their own sense, and both are at the highest peaks in their respective regions
  15. nice firefishes ...but i wonder if 3 or 5 can be a school
  16. "If it ain't broken, don't fix it" yeah...smart decision
  17. yeah lor...very green and nice..my one very pale colour in comparison er bro ah...if the tentacles are still long, i shouldn't move it to another spot hor...coz i scared the currents too strong for my elegance at its current position
  18. bubble: how can i venture into sps big-time when i have so many fishes and LPS and other corals in such a tank? and personally i prefer the movement of fishes and lps, softies swaying than the static beauty of sps reefs....both are beautiful at their best, but my heart goes with the fishes and the corals swaying that's why if i really want to try sps, will do it in an isolated system with little or no fishload
  19. yeah..actually i did post here that after i did my first water change recently, i wondered why i had so much inertia against doing it...because i changed water weekly when i started with a 2ft tank last time... maybe the thought of preparing such a large volume of saltwater made me procrastinate again and again... but on the other hand, i share another personal perspective with you guys. I read that commercial salts tend to have high levels of some elements like lithium, aluminium and other stuff, heavy metals included...different salts of coz have different compositions and each time if we change water, i feel that we are added more and more of such elements into the tank and this build up may not be good for the system in the long run...hehe.. end up we are relieving the stuff in our tank of high nutrients, which is good, but we may on the other hand, introduce undesired elements from the salt mix together.... just a personal thought, or rather, maybe just another excuse for me not to change water often...hehe..
  20. yeah...i was pretty amazed myself....with such a large bioload, the fact that the system never even got near signs of crashing is a miracle in itself dun follow me, it's always good to do water changes
  21. if you want fast dilution, of coz the higher percentage will achieve the goal faster and more effectively, but smaller percentages will do for casual water changes where nothing is out of whack in a system.... basically i am the wrong person to give you such opinions...coz i just did my first water change not too long ago since the tank was set up in december... but my gut feeling is that smaller percentage water change but change more often will disturb the existing water parameters to a lesser extent and this in turn will bring less change in environment to the stuff currently in a tank thus my personal view is that, if i ever need to do dilution to solve any nutrient or toxic problems, of coz a drastic large percentage change is more effective... but if nothing is pretty wrong and everthing seems to be in place after confirming through water chemistry tests, then i would prefer to do smaller percentage water change but more often...IN THEORY but knowing me, probably if nothing goes out of whack, i schedule my next water change to be towards the end of this year...and since it's that long, i may opt for slightly higher percentage.... i am sure others here would be able to give you better views on percentage water change
  22. actually while feeding my anthiases and tangs, i do notice that past a certain amount, they will ignore the food that goes pass them...ie..they almost had their fill already.. initially..any food appearing before their eyes..they will gobble down..and there will be a point where they will react indifferently to the food flying around them
  23. wah AP, these stuff are dangerous, how come appear in your thread? you intending to put them in ah? anyway, i saw the blue ring in a documentary once.....amazing creature....dun see small small...super deadly
