  1. That's a silencer. Remove the cap and u will find that air enters via the tube into the skimmer. U can choose to put the cap on or off, depending on your preference. It does not affects the performance of the skimmer.
  2. What is the temperature of the tubes u are using? 6500K or 10000K or 20000K ? How long have they been in use? Tubes tends to have spectrum shift after a period of use.
  3. It looks like a venturi skimmer to me. 1) Remove the wooden air stone and tubing to the left of the skimmer. 2) Connect the tubing to the right piping where u stated air. The other end of the tube has to be exposed to the air. 3) Connect a pump to the input pipe that u have indicate water. Maybe u could state your brand of the skimmer so that we may be able to help identify the type of skimmer u have on hand.
  4. Fallow your main for a month These parasites are something like ick, will die off without a host. No medication needed.
  5. This is quite an interesting article of how the author stocked up his fishes with hyposalinity, but of course it applies only to FOWLR. The main aim is to eliminate primary infestation like Ick which most/all of us encounters during stocking up. I personally experienced primary when also leads to secondary infestation. That made me restart, cured the existing fishes and in addition stocked 2 angelfish and 1 powder blue tang without any problem. In addition I have UV and added medication for 5 days as a preventive measure (Skimmer and UV turn off during the night when medication is added). IMO, without the parasite, the tank should be Ick free vs the argumentation that Ick is always present. But I do agree that food is one good source of beefing up the fish's health and immunity. However, against the article, i personally don't think that long term hypo is advisable. But I always encourage QT whenever possible. Just my 2 cents... http://www.wetwebmedia.com/ca/volume_4/V4I...h/Angelfish.htm

  16. The lighting may not be sufficient for light-hungry corals if they are at the sand bed, considering ur tank with 2.5 feet height. Something u might want to look into?
  17. Beauty is the eye of the beholder Prata prefers low current flow and are greedy eaters... Put a small piece of market prawn and see them swallow!
