  1. my tank has been running about 1 year. recently i removed the sandbed and total clean up the tank.. now i'm using 100% new water + old LR. i'm wondering if i can put some softies in the tank first, like mushrooms n yuma ?
  2. oh so just turning the actinic blue lights ON will do ? well true that to build the coralline algae first, so that those nuisance algae doesnt hv the place to grow..
  3. one question. shall we turn on the lights during cycling period ? or totally blackout the tank ? my belief is to turn on the light, let the algae bloom until the nutrients level in the water is nil, and algae will eventually die off... but if turn off the light and covered the tank with newspaper, the algae will not grow and die evetually too due to insufficient of light.. so what do u guys think?
  4. i'm thinking of putting the rowa media in the skimmer chamber, do u guys think it's feasible ? i'm using the weipro skimmer.
  5. 1) any place in the sump ? 2) water outlet of the skimmer ? 3) water outlet from the return pump ? or any better place ? and how much rowa i shall put in the sock bag ? my tank is 50 gal . thanks
  6. i think ur clown will create quite a heavy bioload. they are great eater. u should try clown / yellow gobies
  7. well, anyone of you tried salifert all-in-one before?
  8. bascially what i can measure is kH, pH, Ca, NO2 and NO3. That's it. the rest i dont have the test kits. i'm also afraid of overdose. so for safe, i just dose half of what the instructions said, and split it into 2 times , instead of dosing all at one go.
  9. i'm thinking of giving my reeftank some trace elements ,as i dont really change water that much , about 3-4 weeks 10% water change. i'm wondering if salifert ALL-IN-ONE will provide sufficient trace elements for my tank ? my tank majority consists of rhodactics & yumas (80% of soft) , and about 20% of hard corals. please advice. thanks
  10. these are caulerpa. not very efficient in nutrients export + risk of turning asexual chaeto will be a better choice
  11. well it's 2 x 20kk and 2 x blue pro. my tank is 1.5ft depth. and the yumas placement is about 0.5ft away from the light.
  12. but i heard wrasse is not inverterbrates-safe right ? they love to eat shrimps ?
  13. wow that's dishearting kueytoc YzF using superglue to glue rocks together ? can it dry in the water ? or we shall let it dry only then put back into the water ? or ? please tell me more about the superglue thingy. slimy stuffs from ? from other corals or from the mushrooms itself ? is it ok to put them on top of my 4 x T5HO (aquaZ) ?
  14. damine bro, the mushroom is actually rooted on a piece of rock liao , but i wanna stick the rock onto another big big rock .. hehe, or else always knocked down by snails.. so wondering if the commercial/industry used epoxy can use ma?
  15. oh damn i never know flatworm is mushrooms' nightmare... i saw some flatworms ... (well i dont really know whether they are flatworms or not , white transparent , sluggie type, flat flat 1) how to get rid of it ?
  16. ahh btw , are those commercial epoxy safe to use in marine tank ? i mean those that we can get from GIANT/makro hypermart , or hardware shop .. cos i'm goin to glue some of the yumas on a piece of big rock
  17. YzF yes you are my idol i'm trying to grow a full tank of yumas like urs looks like you place ur yumas at the bottom of the tank .. what's ur light configuration ? any idea how to grow such a big bubbles tip ? mine small small nia and not much bubbles
  18. u can try aquaz parabolic reflectors as well... not that expensive and yes i believe the blue thing u r reffering to , is the protection layer .. u need to tear it off
  19. 2.5 x 1.5 x 1.5 4 x T5HOs 2 x 20kk , 2 x actinic blue
  20. yes i'm aware that it's all about luck. this even applies for other corals... some corals will just melt for nothing, but some can thrive very well under the same condition. now i'm monitoring my yumas closely.. to see their conditions.. if they are not doin well, then will move to another place . so far most of the yumas are opening pretty well, except for the bicolor yuma (pink + green) .i noticed the bubble start shrinking ... perhaps light too strong ? or ?
  21. ok gotcha. anyway i'v been keeping LPS and other softies for the past year. just recently get into yumas. water para shouldnt be any major problem. 4 x t5ho considered intense light ? my tank depth is 1.5ft. where is the ideal place for my yumas ? top ? bottom ? middle ? medium flow ? yes they are in the middle flow region
  22. recently i'm kinda in love with yuams ... bought a few yumas from LFS, got orange, green, pink etc... wondering what's the ideal conditions for yuma ?? my current lighting is 4 x t5ho , a 2.5 ft tank. i know alot of sifus here grow very nice yumas ... so please share your experience ! thanks
  23. i read up alot of articles, saying that hermit (some species) do fed on cyno. well perhaps your hermit is well-fed by other delicious food, that's why they din touch ur cyano.
