  1. I guess Harlequin works in a cyanide factory? Bad sales thus need to promote the use... Joking... Thanks Morgan, It is a relieve to hear you agree with me on a copperband butterfly. Probably after my aiptasia is gone, I'll put him up for adoption if it doesn't behave. I'll go and find myself a Copperband Butterfly today.
  2. Aiptasia is taking over my tank! I am thinking of getting the Copperband Butterfly to help get rid of the aiptasia. But will it poke my clams and corals when there are no more aiptasia to eat? I hope I got the right butterfly to do the job? I heard that it will starve when there are no longer any aiptasia? Other alternatives: a. Nuking with Kalkwasser will not work as it will be hard to reach the aiptasia. b. Berghia Nudibranch (Where to find?). c. Pepermint Shrimp (Where to find?). Any advise?

  4. I used Corallife but found out from other international web site/forum that it sucks. It seems to be the worst of all the salts comparing the solubility, minerals content, salinity, alkalinity...etc. I personnaly don't like the residue at the bottom and a layer of film it produce. Instant Ocean salt was given the thumbs up from most international web site/forum. Last week bought myself 20Kg Instant Ocean from Keong Seong for $60. Immediately test it by doing 10% partial water change. No residue, no layer of film and dissolve so fast. I'm already impressed.
  5. one of my favourite corals Fox Coral, Jasmine Coral - Nemanzophyllia turbida Also known as: Ridge Coral, Ruffled Coral The Fox Coral, Jasmine Coral has a green, white, tan color. Large polyp stony coral (LPS). It likes to eat filter feeding invert food, brine shrimp, micro-plankton a few times per week, when open. The Nemanzophyllia turbida is generally peaceful toward other tankmates. Many consider the Nemanzophyllia turbida a low-maintenance specimen. Has low lighting needs. The Ridge Coral, Ruffled Coral requires low water flow. Symbiotic algae zooxanthellae are hosted within this organism. Will extend tentacles, so provide space. Hardy. Keep water quality high (SG 1.023 - 1.025, pH 8.1 - 8.4, Temp. 72 - 78° F). They really beautiful when it open up really big...
  6. Really, an inspiration. Robe, is that a bow tank or is it the camera that shows like fish eye view. I thought I saw the base bend/curve slightly downwards. Probably it is me.
  7. I heard also that method 2 is better and it cools faster thus reduce the operating cost of the chiller. Ideal optimum water flow is best thus fully utilizing the Chiller capability to cool the volume of water that pass through it. Fast flow or slow flow should not spoil the chiller. No water flow will definitely cause the chiller to overheat.
  8. I was wondering what was the best method for the chiller plumbing. I know 2 ways from the internet but what is your comments. 1. Pump from sump push water to the chiller and then out directly to the main tank. 2. Pump from sump push water to the chiller and back to the sump. Which method provide the best working environment for the chiller? Regards
  9. Tangs also eat most Macro Algae.... Foxface loves to eat purple mushroom. It does not take the blue though. It also eat Macro Algae. Luckily we can house the Macro Algae in the refugium. But if you need it in your main tank, I guess this fish should be out.
  10. Yeah... I'm the same guy at Fishing Kaki Forum. Currently in Bangkok, wIll do some Fishing in Thailand this weekend.

I don't see the problem. If it is 150W HQI Ballast it should work with and double ended 150W bulb. I just bought Venture 10K 150W HQI Double Ended Bulb to replace OSRAM 150W 6500K. It should work.
  12. I was thinking of Pasir Ris mangrove area as it seems to be the "cleanest" place compare to Sembawang or even Kranji which is too oily and really dirty/smelly. I was in fact thinking of Changi mangrove area (Near SAF Yatch Club) at low tide seems to have a nice clean patch of mud. My other hobby is fishing so I do get the chance to see some part of the beach at low tide. Seems like some place have a very good place to collect mud. The safest bet would be to quarantine the mud first and let is settle down after skimming before putting it in a refugium layer.
  13. I was wondering if I were to go to Pasir Ris at a very low tide. I could get dig some mud that would be beneficial for a refugium seeding. What do you guys think? Is it safe?
  14. I would like to gather as much information on proven reef safe fish. If everyone could list it out, it will be a useful information. With pictures would be great. My favourite reef safe fish would be the Hippo Tang.
  15. I'm in Bangkok and will get back in a week. I'll review the offer that you guys have offered by end of the month. For those who have not PM your best offer, please do so. Just try your luck, who knows you might get it. Initially thought I could have a spare chiller but my wife is complaining. So got to let go. Any best offer will get it.
  16. I think I have seen something similar to the Reeftec pump at Chatuchak Weekend Market in Bangkok. I'll probably visit Chatuchak this weekend again before I fly back to Singapore. AT, how much does yours cost. I want to make sure I don't pay for something that cost more than the US price.
  17. I've been to one in JB. I think it is in Extra but it have already "moved" or gone bonkers. But no corals only marine fish. Dunno where they have move to?
  18. I'm used to Corallife salt until a friend gave up his hobby and pass me his Instant Ocean salt. I find that IO salt dissolve faster and does not leave any trace behind. From the comments and feedback. IO seems to be given the thumbs up. So trying to switch over to IO.
  19. When I first bought the small horseshoe hawkfish, he tends to wonder every corner of the tank. He then dissapear. It goes over the overflow into the sump filtration and survive for a week in shallow (1/2 inch) water. Saw him there went I was cleaning the sponge. He learns his lesson and stop wandering near the overflow. Tough guy. Although some other species doesn't like clownfish.
  20. Is it Kwang a bit pricey? Do they have the bucket?
  21. I've got a used 1 year old Hailea HL-380CA. Found that this model is only good for 4" Tank. I've got 5" Tank and this chiller has been working very hard after I replace my VHO with 2x 150W MH. Just bought TECO TW6 (RA680). Somehow HL-380CA rated 1/2HP is not the same with TECO RA680 (TW6) 1/2HP. The TECO seems to be able to handle my tank and it cost much much more than the Hailea. As the warranty is over, I'll let go at the best offer.
  22. The light diffuser that Phang constructed can also be a in-tank refugium for copepods and amphipods to hide from fish.
  23. Would love to but I am currently redecorating the tank. I just suck up the 3" DSB from the main tank cos that 2 pesky wrasse keep messing them up and the live rock keeps tumbling down. That's why I need to setup a refugium fast. I did that operation successfully w/o any casualty to the corals and fish. What a relief!? But I'm sad cos after 2 years there is so much life in the sand. Worms, bristle worms... etc. I intend to follow what phang did (use eggcrate) to support the LR. Probably put a small powerhead inside.
  24. I am looking for cheapest Instant Ocean salt in the largest package available. Do Instant Ocean have bucket size like Coralife Salt? Most of the shop I have been carries small box package? Anyone knows which shop have that? Seems like in Singapore Corallife is easily available in big buckets.
