I have seen this one on the web before. The resturant looks impressive ... but .... where are the fishes - only one lion It is better to have a tank where the fish stay put
Or maybe they need binos
When you select your clams try to buy those which are attached to a rocks - those come without rock have a lower chance of survival - this is the advice given by a clam farm in the states.
I hope this helps.
Good job Creetin
I just realise my colony came with a fish and a crab .... The crab orange color -- not the hairy type and the fish ... quite interesting about 2 cm and white in color with some pink and red strips on it....
I am using a 250 W DE giesemann. I am thinking of upgrading to a 3 x 3 x 2 or 2.5 cube with the same lighting set.
I think the spread depends on several factors:
1) lighting Reflector
I get this giesemann set the spread is quite standard - 2 x 2 - minimum residue lighting outside of this area
2) Aquascaping
If you have a 3 x 3 x 2 then the side panel will not have any lighting which might be a good thing as there will not be any diatoms growing on the panel. Provided your coral is situated in the centre.
3) height of lighting
As we all know the higher you go, the spread will be wide but the intensity will drop. But the standard recommendation should be at least 30 cm above the water surface.
4) Depth of tank
For 2 ft - 2.5ft depth - I think 250 can punch in ralatively easy with a 10K bulb - with standard height of 30 cm from surface.
I hope this helps
My tank is only 2 x 2 x 13" and my bioload is very small - only 2 fishes. Mostly LPS and some sps. I am selling because my new tank size is more than 100 gal.
You can actually buy limestone if you know where to buy ....as they made of calcium and magnesium compounds.... same stuff as the live rocks.
Cement abit troublesome though they come in different grade - some are more porous.
Let me know if you can find them
Yup your link is correct. The ES series is replaced by RS. Basically the CS, RS or ES are the same spec except that the way the body is made is different. CS stands for Cell cast, ES stand for Extruded acrylic and i am not sure what RS stands for.
Heard the news 10.30 pm - never mentioned much about the victim .. hope he is doing fine..

Des,
Your chiller sounds abit smallish for your tank Titan 1500 can only support up to 250 gal. Does it run all the time or break in intervals during summer ?
Glad to hear there is some success stories for skimmerless tank
Do you have some data on water parameters ?
