  1. My favourite corner of my tank
  2. Another recent acquisition from Joe_P Red acropora abratonoids (kitkat sps)
  3. Recent acquisitions from Joe_P Blue acropora hoeksemai
  4. Thanks desi, housereef123 and vipul No plans to frag my zoas yet but spses are on the way.
  5. Either acropora monticulosa or gemmifera. Both species are tough to keep - they demand the max in turbulent flow, correct light spectrum and intensity and almost perfect water parameters. In short, lots of TLC and $$ to be spent.
  6. Cepat sikit ya.....gua tak sabar menanti lu
  7. Wah, macam ini gua nak tengok lu punya progress lah - bagi posting gambar sikit lah
  8. Lama tak nampak lu di sini. Lu punya tank macam mana?
  9. I think I am somewhat undergoing reduction, especially in strength lol. Did you use a light meter to measure your lumens? LEDs are certainly an interesting development in SPS reefing and one that continually draws active debate in the reefing community. As per the old adage, time will tell as LED technology continues to evolve.
  10. Thank you for your apology. I am unsure what you mean by T5s producing bon-bon colours but one man's meat is another man's poison. Hence, in public forums such as this and given your vested interest in selling LED lighting fixtures, I believe it would make good sense to display appreciation for a well-cared and thriving reef tank regardless of lighting systems.
  11. Thanks for the kind words I don't have any secret in keeping sps corals as it's all practices readily available from forums like sgreefclub.
  12. That's interesting. My capitata (also from Cedric) is a very light yellow with light blue polyps. Would be nice to track comparisons in growth and colour as they are from the same source from Cedric's mother colony.
  13. LOL. I noticed some reefers with T5 and MH lit systems utilize a strip or two of LEDs to jazz things up.
  14. I am sure LEDs have their place in SPS reefkeeping but I personally do not believe that reefers (at least those that I know of) expect LED lighting to be magic bullets. Reefers will always judge lighting systems by the results they obtain and aesthetics (costs aside). Hence, if you believe aquarists to expect or demand similar results from LED lighting vis-a-vis T5s and Halides, that is most certainly the case. Respect should be accorded regardless of lighting choice (and lighting is merely one of several important factors in maintaing a thriving SPS tank) and there is no need for needless and baseless condemnation of any lighting system.
  15. I find the above statement to be a slight on all the gorgeous T5 lit reef tanks that I have seen in person and online in my years of reefing.
  16. Personally, I believe the old school method of using metal halide bulbs like a 20kk Radium 400W plus a quality reflector such as a lumenarc is the best lighting option for SPS corals. Due to utility costs, I use the next best option which is an ATI T5 fixture.
  17. Hey Joe_P, Was browsing some old threads and came across this one by you almost ten years back In the spirit of SPS keeping, I'll chip in my specs as per your decade-old request 1)Reef size (dimensions in inches) - 3' X 2' X 2' 2)No. of MH. Type and Wattage - Things have certainly moved on since the days of using Iwasaki 6500Ks. 8X39W T5 ATI bulbs for me 3)DSB, Phleum, Denitrator or non - Shallow Sand Bed (SSB) 4)Sump ( whether you have a incorporated Refugium / Filter Media / DSB) - Small fuge with chaeto but doesn't grow much due to probiotics. 5)Skimmer (Brand and Model) - Skimz Sk251 6)Calcium Reactor (Brand and Model) - No CR but using dosing pump with TLF's A & C solutions 7)PH levels - 8.0 to 8.3 8)Alk levels - 7.0 to 7.5 9)Calcium levels - haven't measured for awhile but the last reading was 420 ppm 10)Chiller (HP and Brand) - Daikin 1 HP with titanium coil 11)Total System (Water exchange/circulation rate per hour) - I reckon 30X turnover per hour
  18. Going for 45 bucks. Whole colony only, no frags will be offered for sale. Do contact me at 8186-9375 if you are interested.
  19. The spacing between radial coralites. I have no idea how and what the reference point is and take it as it is from an experienced reefer.
  20. Red table millepora - got this piece about 4 weeks ago. Hope it can continue its growth rate (sprouts a few new heads every week) and maintain its rich red colour.
  21. Tricolour purple valida - a brownish piece that has transformed into purple hues.
  22. Another Fiji colony - this one is a pink poccilopora sp. Also had it since Dec 2011.
  23. Fiji purple sameonsis - had this colony since Christmas eve 2011.
