You're quite lucky huh... can still manage to get some good wrasses even though you were late.... Yeah i was very upset that night as i killed my own candy hog... but then again we learn from our mistakes right? I'll consider the plastic mesh suggestion bro.... see if its feasible.... thanks!

Anyway i know it isnt him because i saw the same posts in other's threads as well.. including his own... so it was meant as a friendly poke at him... Anyway guys, i have some sad news. My candy hog died last night as a result of my oversight. What happened was that it had actually swam by itself through the "teeth" of my overflow compartment and entered it, not knowing what it was, and in my attempts to catch him, the candy hog swam too close to the durso pipe's inlet and was sucked into the pipe and dispelled in my sump filter area. In the process of travelling through the rough waters flowing through my pipes, it was killed the moment it landed on my filter wool in the sump. i was stunned, and angry for causing the death of my fish, which moments ago was still fine and swimming well. However, the lesson i've learnt is that we should switch off the pumps should there be any such occurences in future, and my advice to reefers out there who keep fishes or inverts that are slim enough to go through the overflow compartment, to take note and take precautions if deemed necessary. I learnt the hard way bros, so don't commit the same mistake i did. Hope this sharing helps.

Hello MAG, My lights are switched on for a total of 12 hours a day. They work on timers, with the first set (1 x Aquablue Spezial and 1 x Blue Plus) coming on from 1030hrs to 2230hrs, and the second set (2 x Aquablue Spezial) from 1230hrs to 2030hrs. My lights are placed on the hood, which is 8" in height, so effectively i reckon my lights are elevated about 5" from the water surface. Other than that, there is nothing else covering the the top of the tank so ventilation of heat is still ok. So far, i have yet to spare the time to observe my chiller kick-in times, so i'm still unable to give u a definite answer. A ball park figure would be around 40mins on, 1.5hrs off. Hope this helps bro, cheers!

Haha i totally agree..... ever since i decided to introduce the first form of life into the tank... i couldn't stop since. However, i'll try my best to stock up in a rate at which the tank can handle.... and for now i have no intentions of adding any tangs yet. Maybe a YT in future when my reef is more established. For now, its percs, basslets and wrasses. Are you sure that we can keep more fishes if we decide not to have any tangs bro? Sounds interesting... altho i have never heard of that.... maybe you're talking about bioload?

haha my fishes are all doing fine... thanks. Hopefully Baku (coral beauty) will be happy and carefree in your tank soon... lemme know when that happens ya... Cheers!!

How's my coral beauty doing bro?

Hello there wonder, my candy hog is now swimming openly and happily in my tank. He is the shy inhabitant and i have yet to notice any form of aggression from his part yet. Instead, it is the laboutei wrasse that is slightly more aggressive. Haha nevertheless, i will keep you updated on this matter la. Oh ya and as for the black cap, it is indeed living well and peacefully with my royal gramma. Apart from some initial taunting from both parties when the black cap was first introduced, they are doing fine now. The important thing here is sufficient space for all to live i reckon. So i guess we make 2 lucky reefers in keeping royal grammas and black caps together. Anyway it must be quite a big tank you have bro, keeping so many fishes! Maybe i should visit your tank someday...... haha

Managed to get some interesting fishes on saturday although i was overseas.... with the help of my gf. Anyway, my thanks to bro thomas and chris for helping us secure 2 more gems for my tank! Will post some pics later.....

FOC...... Take it or i'll be throwing it away... dun wanna mess up my house..
-
Haha all royal grammas are born female... but may eventually change its ###### to a male. Males are more colourful than the female and will darken when they are ready to mate and are also generally larger in size bro. What is it about mating with your SON?!?!?! Whoah... i dun think it'd be a good idea... unless you're talking about a fish too...

Haha that's enough for today.... will post more tomorrow la... Anyway... i bought some corals over the past few days too.... will slowly show them to you guys once i'm free.... Happy viewing!!
