  1. Here is the back view of the tank showing how the skimmer stand;
  2. Hi Hotlemond, Thanks and it's ok to discuss about it as it's the purpose of this forum. 1. I'm not using Venturi type as that's another type of skimmer and I believed getting the venturi done is more difficult and more expensive. Yes the spray nozzle requires a high speed water flow but I think (maybe wrong) depends on the size of the tank and the size of the skimmer body, the rate should be around 600l/hr to 1000l/hr. I'm starting off with this 600l/hr first and see how's the skimmate like and how fast it skim. This morning is juz the beginning hehe, so I really can't tell. Still lot's of adjustment to be done but let me plastered most of my fingers first (getting cut here and there haha). 2. The prizm skimmer is using the venturi type method right? As such, the bubbles need to be rotated in the chamber longer to have a longer contact time. Not so sure as for spray injection method (think I've read somewhere, can't recall where), the effectiveness is based on the throughtput of the pump; that is how many times it gets circulated. For the media, cannot but have to use the media bag though not as effective as the FR due to the slow rate of the pump. Thanks for your feedback once again.
  3. Yes, basically it's a combo of both skimmer and filter like some commercial brand having it. I'm using it to replace my HOB and air driven skimmer. This skimmer is made strictly for small size tank like mine 2ft as the pump used is onli the Compact 600l/hr.
  4. Spray Injection Skimmerbox C12 Introduction; How the idea came about? Since the setup of my first nano marine tank (a standard 2ft tank), I'm using an Oceanfree HOB and a cheap $10 air driven limestone type of skimmer. The thing I hate about the HOB is the water splashing out of the tank, so I've to use a plastic to cover the top but the light still got wet. Also the 2 little compartment is hardly enough for my Aquaz Purephos Premiumâ„¢ and the wool frost, and I don't have enough space for my carbon media. As for the cheap skimmer, the limestone needs changing every now and then and cleaning the skimmer is tough. How it got started; With ideas from Undertheradar's Wetworx diy skimmer; http://www.nano-reef.com/forums/showthr ... adid=58540 Reefer_Buddha's Nanomora; http://www.nano-reef.com/forums/showthr ... did=22469; and also drawing ideas from BAK-PAK; http://www.cpraquatic.com/products/bakpak2r.html and Remora; http://www.proteinskimmer.com/Remora.pdf, I've come out with my DIY Skimmerbox. Probably a combination of all the above ideas haha. The Skimmerbox should be; - "Nano" in size. - Good for my around 12 Gallon tank, or below. - Incorporating a filter media with at least 3 compartments. - Ease of use, maintenance, and cleaning. And I named my DIY Skimmer; Skimmerbox C12 (C12 as "by Chris" and for 12 Gallon tank or below). The method is by Spray Injection. This skimmer is meant for nano tank 2ft or below. The Details of the assembly are in my site at; http://www.guppiesonli.com/pn/index.php?na...viewtopic&t=157 Overview of the Skimmer with the Support Base; The Filter Media Box; The Collection Cup; Attaching to the tank; The Inlet and Outlet; Adjusting the bubbles; Sorri for the not so professional look as this is my first DIY skimmer project. Any queries or remarks are welcome.

    Acrylic Sheet

Haha, I'm going to Dama tomorrow to buy some acrylic sheet too. I'm awared that they cut to size for you but not so sure if they can drill hole too as I required it. Understand they have 2 types Cast and Extruded. Standard ex-stock size ; Cast - 1000mm x 1830mm Extruded - 1000mm x 4000mm Think in terms of per sq ft, extruded is cheaper - right? Will find out more tomorrow when I'm there.
  6. Think you may try C328 - there are plenty of joints there. Seen a few there before but not sure of the sizes (diameter).
  7. Should the pump rating be 1000 l/hr or 2000 l/hr? As I intend to use in as Hang On Back of my 2ft tank, so I cannot go for a big size pump. If I will to use a external pump for the 2011, is it just as effective as an internal pump? Thanks.
  8. Nice DIY! May I know did you buy the beckett nozzle $30 in Singapore or Overseas? If Singapore, where did you buy it? Thanks.
  9. NO, the $45 one was bought at Serangoon area....
  10. Saw the M620 at C328 at onli $38. Bought mine at $45!
  11. Do you mean the "in" thing of using a refugium or not using it?
  12. May I know what's the total cost of this diy? Thanks.
  13. Sorri can't figure out what's that? Any hint?
  14. Though the price is above $100, the onli setback I've with this skimmer is the width or length of it. Thickness and height is ok.
  15. Hi Madmac, Pls pls tell me the brand and model of that External pump which is less than 20W at that rate you mentioned. Help me as I've been searching for quite sometime already. Thank you.
  16. Are these external pumps usually have higher power wattage compared to one that is submersible for the same flow rate and head?
  17. Hi Madmac, Nice setup you have! Hope to see more updates of pic soon especially on your sps.
  18. Really thanks for the infos. BTW you mention external pump like Ehiem, etc... do you mean we can use an external pump and not a powerhead or fully submersible pump for the 2011? Any idea what model of external pump for the brand that you mentioned and roughly how much will that be? I'm trying to look for one but seems like most must be dumped into the tank which takes up too much space in a nano. Thank you.
  19. This pump is outside the tank right? But the price is also more than $100 right? It's definitely easy to pick a good skimmer if price is not a consideration.
  20. If it's a Weipro 2011 series and a powerhead, can it be more than $100? BTW how much is a 2011 and the recommended powerhead? Agreed that the powerhead in the 2ft tank is really space consuming, but is there any none expensive skimmer to recommend besides those with powerhead inside the main tank? Thank you.
  21. Ha you mean same $50 but in Sing Dollar?
  22. Is that a Dymax air driven skimmer? How's your skimmate? Any dark skimmate so far?
  23. Nice nano! What's the size of your nano tank? How big is your sump tank and what's the return pump rating? Thanks.
