  1. Agreed, the prices are pretty high for my budget hehe.
  2. chrisyew - Tampines ... always hang around Pasir Ris Fishfarm one hehe..
  3. Thanks Ian and Brunei for the clarification of jewel.
  4. So what's the plan that is being spoilt???
  5. Is that coral chips that you put in the corner of the tank??
  6. BTW, is jewel also a type of gonio?
  7. You may even buy the acrylic glue from them and glue it yourself with a brush as it's not too difficult. They sell T4 and T5 lights too. (dama.com.sg). The onli thing is the design of the hood to allow ventilation and ensure that there is no water splash into the hood too. For 2ft hood, ensure that your design will not warp after some time. Best is to buy a cheap PL light set and change it to T4 light tube inside.
  8. Woh, you must have paid a bomb for this tank and light.
  9. You are welcome Maxstar. You mean using soldering iron to melt the acrylic? If you don't have a drill, you may buy a grimlet set instead from some hardware shop. It's like those using hand to 'drill' a small hole - not really drill but to turn a small hole.
  10. Here is a comparison of the 533mm T4 (20W)blue tube I used (the bottom one in photo) and the 2ft T5 tube from Aqua Lux (stated as Actinic 24W) for my 2ft tank. The top one Aqua Lux seem more like Indigo than blue; The blue tube for the shorter 343mm tube is the same as the 533mm one.
  11. Should be ok as my 3 x T4 tubes are doing well in my 28cm deep nano tank. Nice hood you have there!
  12. Hi, May I know what is the brand of the pump provided? Is it noisy?? How bad is the micro bubbles are the outlet? Does it got feed back to the main tank??
  13. Think it depends on big is your HOB - there are some mod. for the HOB to include a refuge in that NANO forum. Some ppl may put Rowaphos in a bag in the HOB as well and there may not be enough space for others. So check and see what types of HOB is more suitable for your NANO tank. You may even DIY one juz for your refuge.
  14. OK you are not alone. My new small nano tank has quite alot this morning when I juz on the lights to check. Look quite nice if they are under the blue light with their transparent body hehe. But when they move about in a group, kinda quite creepy.....
  15. I think most lighting concern is the depth of the water; that is what the light can effectively reach the bottom. I'm really not sure of the color temp. of both the white and blue tube. Most use actinic blue probably it's bandwidth can effectively reach the deepest and some said that certain coral preferred that bandwidth for photosynthesis; not so sure about the second part. Personally I think if the tank is not too deep and the light can penetrate to the bottom, I think the blue is ok too. Let me run for a few months to see any bad effect of it.
  16. It's in one of those artshop in Bras Basah Complex but dun remember which one coz I been round too many of them and didn't really bother to see the shop's name.
  17. Are they shape like little crockroach??
  18. I didn't use PL tube as most are T8 in size. Sorri didn't compare the temp. Should be able to based on my dimension but a bit squeezed when trying to remove or replace the tube. As the tank is not that deep, so I decide to use 3 tubes which is 3X8W - 24W.
  19. Juz a normal impeller and not those needle wheel impeller. The airline is for air water mixture.
  20. The review and comments from users are mixed haha. Most having problems with the micro bubbles though.
  21. Thanks. Yep, juz drill a hole in the pump close to the impeller and put an airline in with an air adjust. Think it's called aspirating method. Thanks to UTR in that Nano forum for the idea.
  22. Guess it's about 6.5" high and 2" diameter.
  23. Thanks Melvin. But glueing technique still no good but I can provide ready cut and drilled pieces for fellow diyers if they are keen.
