How many reefers here agree that i sld change my skimmer to Deltec 851??! I planning to keep this tank as fowlr for now with simple corals such as muchrooms and zoos. Quite eager for the tank to arrive on saturday afternoon or sunday morning. . will document every progress slowly. Finally joining the six footer club, under the influence of fellow reefers here with huge tanks. . such as dr evil, KTLK, shootsimon etc. .

i will be using only T5 lightings, specifically Aqualight T5.

From the specs given for Deltec 851, its able to support a 1500 litres tank or a heavily stocked 1000 litres tank. I understand its better to have a "overkill" skimmer than a "underkill" skimmer. However, electrical comsumption is part of my consideration, thus i only use German technology such as Aquabee pumps and Schuran Jetskim. The Deltec 902 will be superb, but a big dent on my wallet. You should go for that bro! p.s. Dun think i will use the bullet beckett, any interested parties can pm me.

More pictures of the complete set up & equipments will come shortly. Did i miss out any important piece of equipment or should i upgrade any of the following equipments i mentioned?

After going through so many different tanks, i decided to settle down once and for all with a 6x2.5x2.5 feet tank. Previously, i was using a 3x2x2.5 feet tank followed by a 4x2x2 feet tank. Having tried different brands of equipments before, i became more cautious with this 250 gallon project. As a result, i am more selective when it comes to equipments. My theme is to create a piece of the ocean. Here are the specs: 6x2.5x2.5 feet tank 4x1.8x1.8 feet sump tank 150kg of sand 200kg of fully cured live rocks Aqualight 54 watt T5 x4 Aqualight 24 watt T5 Aquabee 3000 x2 as return pumps Aquabee 2000 as circulation pump Tunze 6080 & 6060 as wave makers Deltec phosphate remover reactor Schuran Jetskim 150 skimmer powered by Aquabee 2000i Bullet beckett skimmer powered by Rio20 As for the skimmer, there is a possibility that i might get a Deltec 851 in replacement for the Schuran & Beckett.

Jc, thanks for the advice. i will try to find a suitable cage for the mom n her baby later.. temp they are still together in the huge cage. . . p.s. do u think i can put the chins in a cat carier? those big plastic carrier tt pple use when they bring their cats to the vet..

hey guys, my velvet pair only gave birth to one brown velvet baby. Can't take any pictures yet bcuz the baby is always sheltered by the mom. It came as a pleasant surprise bcuz i wasnt sure if the mom was really pregnant or real chubby. As for now, i have 5 velvet chins and they all belong to the same family! I dun have spare cage at the moment. . hmm see wad i can do..

no offense sis, but u might wan to consider using higher high skimmer if u plan to keep sps. at the same time, u need plenty of flow n high turnover in ur tank.

guys, thanks for the comments. i am unaware so many reefers also using schuran, i guess the downside is the price tag for a brand new piece. If no one wans my schuran (final price $600), i will keep it for my own use instead of upgrading to deltec.
