Seems that a lot of reefers are concerned about the pumps they used. Therefore i started this thread to give my point of view on what pumps sld be use on what aspect of the tank. Other inputs are welcome. Pumps i have tried: Resun md40, Resun md55, Aquabee2000, 2000i, 3000, 5000, eheim compact 300, 600, 1000, eheim universal 1250, 1260, 1262, Aquamedic OR3500, Sicce extrema etc. . . Return pumps: a) Eheim 1260, Aquamedic OR3500 for 3 footer tanks and below Eheim 1262, 1264, Aquabee 5000, Aquamedic OR6500 for 4 footer tanks and above Chiller pumps: a) Aquabee 2000, 2000i, 3000, eheim1250, eheim1260 Beckett pumps: a) Resun md40, md55 Iwaki md40, md55, md70, md100 c) Rio series pumps (seriously not recommended) Basically, every reefer is concern about the price of the pump, the durability of the pump, size, and most imptly the wattage of it. IMO, Aquabee pumps give the best value for money. Low wattage, higg output and small in footprint. Eheim is well known for its long lasting performance, some even claimed their eheim pumps last up to 10 years and still running!! Lastly, there are many other pumps in the market including Red Dragon, Deltec pumps etc. Its not that they are not recommended, just tt i can't give first hand experience. cheers.

Aquabee 3000 is definately not good, prob just powerful enuff for ur chiller Its rated at 3000 litres, 40 watt. max height 2.4m only. . zzzzzzz. . . i was using the aquabee 3000 pump b4. . not stronggggggggg

Bro, i am using the Aquabee 5000 pump. It seriously rocks!!!! Definately strong enough as a return pump. i wld suggest a separate chiller pump. . cuz after tee-off ur retun might not be as strong. Nevertheless, this has prob be the best pump i used. ( nvr try red dragon b4 )

Found all the necessary pipings except union. Fire up one of the Aquabee 5000 pump. Specs: 5000 litres 75 watt max height : 4.7m This pump rocks. . . . . . Aquabee Cheapest in town: Either petmart or me. From my calculation based on the six footer which is equivalent to 1000 litres odd, my turn over rate sld be about 8 times, considering the Aquabee 5000 will give a combined 10000 litres, minus a bit of head loss etc sld be equal to 8000 litres which is pretty healthy. Seriously recommend this pump for return!!!!!

You can afford to be lazy considering the equipments you are using. Computerised system and most equipments installed. u noe how volatile sps is. . not easy to maintain the colours. . really need to cook the sps under 400 watt of MH or something. . . i will stick to the easy corals. . lps. . . tested my flow rate just now. . sld be perfect to accomodate lps. Although i am an equipment junkie, for changing so many different equipments thruout the months. But what's most spectacular about a reefer's tank is the coral or well being of it. . i wld prob be more impressed with a reefer with low tech equipments but very successful with the corals, rather than someone who spends $10000 on a system without any success with corals. seen ur tank before. . impressive enuff la. .

schuran jetskim 120 sld be gd enuff. i dunno what other skimmers does ur country offer. . at least schuran is a tried and tested product.

i think mod will shift this thread to marine equipments instead. Anyway i was a user of Schuran jetskim 150, no problems with it. Quite satisfied. If u cant get deltec, stick to schuran. possibly go for the 150 or higher model.

Schuran is a good choice of skimmer. Alternatively, i strongly recommend the Deltec 6 series and 8 series.

size of tank?

After going a big round, still come back to lps eventually. I still respect you and others out there who can maintain a full-fledged sps tank. Takes time, commitment and money.

I wun say it will stink up the whole house. However, after the denitrator kick in u will have rotten egg smell within the cabinet. As long as u dun open up the denitrator, the smell will be contained.

Guys, i don't think i have the ability to fill up the entire tank with red pratas and green bubbles sorta thing. . perhaps will start with one mountain first, and then the other one. Went to a lfs yesterday, already set my eyes on the true octopus, bi-colour brain, bubbles, frogspawn, blue,green and purple mushrooms. Hopefully after hooking up the chiller this weekend, as well as changed the return pumps, plus install the lightings, i sld be ready for corals. i admit i made a lot of errors this month, end up changing 5 reurn pumps!!!! I am quite certain the Aquabee 5000 will be up to my standard. Refugim postphone till 2-3 weeks later. . . tank maker MIA.

Hi, two months ago i was considering the use of a denitrator. Do a search in SRC and arofanatics for information regarding denitrator. From the past reviews, it definately has more pros than cons. Besides, its an affordable piece of equipment. Plug and play set is readily available from reefdepot.

Firstly, try not to use a canister for marine. That's old school, like 4-5 years ago concept. If possible can a sump tank. Ur tank is pretty small, so margin of error is very big. Ever considered gettinga bigger tank? Perhaps a 2 feet cube? Skimmer choice is subjective. Can always go for weipro or deltec. Putting a tank in the bedroom isn't a good idea. No matter wad, there will still be sounds from tt overflow, pump, fan, chiller etc etc etc. .

not bad. . ###### shrimps are so tiny. . have to put a lot of them in ur big tank.

dude. . ur rock scape will trap a lot of debris. . . try to blow one tunze into the rocks since u are not using a sand bed anyway. p.s. Iwarna's sps display tank is also bare-bottom and it has 2 tunzes to blow debris on the bottom.

I give in further. . price lower to $130 final. Eheim 1260 bought from petmart. Warranty still exist for another 2 years 11 months and dunno how many days.
