After changing both return pumps to Aquabee 5000, can see a great increase in the turn over of the tank.

haha. . u are just as flickle minded as me. . just that i move from corals > FOWLR > Aggressive tank > corals AGAIN. Keep some discus. . thye dun need chiller.

Previously i was using a Deltec FR with Aqualight phosphate remover. Its working well for me as i dun experience algae problems. Its highly recommended for reefers with new start ups and lots of livestock. Fr is a simple equipment, almost any brand will do. For the phosphate remover, there's Aqualight, Aquaz, Rowa etc. . see which brand u prefer. . . Tunze is the bext wavemaker in the market, u can use two and positioned opposite ur overflow box. . so its blowing from one end to the other end of the tank. I am using the ATI bubble master. Work out ur budget and get something decent. . ur Atman skimmer is definately a must-change. Beckett is the cheapest in the mkt now. If u really want to spend on your tank, get Deltec or something. Remove the coral chips, just replace everything with live rocks.

Just hook up the chiller last night. Manage to chill my 6 feet tank to 27 degrees. Initial temperature: 30.0 degrees Current temperature: 27 degrees Combined wattage of equipments used: Aquabee 5000 x2 (150 watt) Aquabee 2000 (15 watt) Eheim skimmer pump (55 watt) Tunze 6080 (15 watt) 4ft T5 x 2 (108 watt) Total: 343 watt. Today will hook up the Metal Halide and see if the chiller can cope. I am glad that the Hailea chiller is able to meet my expectations. As for noise level, its very minimum considering that i was a previous user of NSEW chiller and Arctica chiller. Its in fact quieter than Resun and the overflow box is even noiser than the chiller. As for heat generated, most chillers are almost similar, so no comments on this.

There's a calculation table in SRC. Plus minus a bit your volume sld be about there. my 6x2.5x.25 ft tank with 4x2x2 ft sump is rated at 1100 litres. . yours sldnt be too far from mine. Anyway suggestions given by other fellow reefers here are pretty accurate. IMO: Get two tunze wavemakers. Get a FR (pasam malam got a lot of 2nd hand ones) For the phosphate remover, there are 5 different brands to choose from Rescape the entire tank Replace ceramic rings n coral chips with live rocks A bit more work will get u a proper tank.

Are u still keeping FOWLR or plan to switch to corals? Moving a tank is tough enuff, can't imagine shifting the entire house. . . I still vote for Bubble King. Bubble Master comes 2nd.
-
hey ken, have u shifted ur tank yet? Still hesitating about the skimmer?
-
hey bro. . $300 plus might get u a 2nd hand H&S skimmer. Macro is total crap, not worth the money. Nowadays beckett is the cheapest. . lol. . needlewheel is the new thrend. .

dude, do let us know if the seller has found a buyer for the tank and willing to let go the nice corals. cheers.

i have seen the performance of it. Besides, you don't have to use one to know that its good. Its like telling people that Royal Exclusiv Bubble King is the best, i don't have to own one to say tt.

Iwarna just came in fish shipment. . . . -
There is no local agent for red dragon pumps. Unless u are willing to fork out between $800-$1200 for red dragon. Aquabee pumps readily available at petmart and bio ocean.

i fully agree with bro flamey. Beckett is indeed a good skimmer considering that i used to own 3 of it. . the reason for switching to venturi and needlewheel skimmers is the high wattage needed to power these skimmers. Since u already bought the beckett, might as well just use it. If not, i strongly recommend switching to Deltec.
-
I was a previous user of Macro skimmer. I am sure the pump can be replaced for the venturi version. However, unless u get a needlewheel eheim or aquabee pump, i dun think u can replace the needlewheel macro version. Rio pumps are cheap but not lasting. Most reefers expereince spoil Rio after a year and for beckett users, approx 4 months.

Since they give u the warranty, u can have a piece of mind. However, most tank makers still insist on the centre beam to support the tank. Even highly-aclaimed Aquatechnic also use the centre beam. There are quite a range of skimmers in the market now, why choose the beckett?
