  1. I am thinking of using metal halide solely for the refugim. Any comments on this?
  2. hey bro acidjazz, will be getting the artica as well. Pretty well recieved brand in this forum.. U know anyone selling pre-own unit? Else will have to buy a new one..
  3. nope. . i bought them one shot from pacific marine. . .
  4. hey ken, the YT are about the same size. They do fight ocassionally. . but no casualities. . .
  5. Any chiller you already have in mind? Arctica is pretty good. . .
  6. So far so good i guess. . . hopefully i am not stressing out the 1/2 hp chiller. Anyway i set my temperature at 27 degrees, how about you? i am thinking of increasing it to 28 degrees so that the chiller dun have to work so hard. .
  7. To answer your question, you can check on classfieds as there are plenty of home-breed dogs available at lower price than farms, especially on saturday classfieds. However, try to find a dog that suits ur personality.
  8. Sps needs a serious investment. . such as getting another 3-4 tunze wavemakers, stronger lightings, calcium reactor etc etc etc. . . i am not ready for sps yet. . at least not a 6 footer sps. Might keep some Monti caps and batam/bali sps which are easier to upkeep rather than those tonga sps that have lots of requirements.
  9. hey. . . is the CL280 able to chill down ur tank? Ur water volume seems too much for the CL280. When u add in all the pumps, wavemakers and lightings, i am afraid it will stress ur chiller. .
  10. oh... i cook an entire tank of discus before cuz my heater overheat. . went up to 32 degrees. . . crap. . . anyway off topic, bro seamonkee tank wld be nice with discus and some plants which can tahan without co2 input.
  11. i agree with you. However, i have seen planted tanks with discus at about 28-29 degrees. . dunno how it works also. . .
  12. I don't mind if u wanna drop by my place to verify the noise level if u are deciding which chiller to get.
  13. Just to add: Regarding the noise level, the Hailea chiller is very very silent. I can't even tell that it kicked in. . . those reefers who came over to my place earlier today wld have witness that. cheers.
  14. Just hook up the Hailea HC-500A (1/2 hp model) chiller. Combined wattage of equipments used: Aquabee 5000 x2 (150 watt) Aquabee 2000 (15 watt) Eheim skimmer pump (55 watt) Tunze 6080 (15 watt) 4ft T5 x 2 (108 watt) 150 watt MH X2 (300 watt) Total: 643 watt. For a 1/2 hp chiller to chill down a 6x2.5x2.5 ft tank with 4x2x2 ft sump is incredible. Most tanks this size wld have require a 1hp chiller. This goes to prove that Hailea is credible in what they stated on the chiller. I am confident that the Hailea 1/2hp chiller wld be able to chill down most tanks which are 6 feet and below.
  15. haha. . . very gd question. . i will try not to starve tt bi-colour, so it got no chance to nip my corals.
