Hi, Have a stable FOWLR now but it seems that whenever I add new livestock it always end up with cloudy eyes. After that the entire eyes just "gone" and can see the socket and eventually RIP. The rest of the fishes are fine with no problem. Any similar experience??

find it take quite a few safety considerations so use UV instead for me. 1) My skimmer can only take 50mg so cannot buy bigger size 2) need to take care and use ozone friendly material for all connection like tubing and connectors 3) recommend to go through carbon before going back to main tank. 4) best to use orp controller before overdose > 450 5) I see most reef keepers don't use it maybe due to the feeding 6) if something wrong you can actually smell it and dangerous

Seen quite a few topics on this locally and overseas and seems not a good idea. Beside creating more oxygen which is beneficial it doesn't skim more rubbish out of the water. I would personally go for a bigger skimmer if your sump allows. Or else it is just competition between the 2 skimmers and worst both not performing because not enough rubbish!!

Hi, Would like to keep some clam (all types) and wonder if my lighting is enough. Using Maxspect Raxor 320W for my 5ft tank with 2ft depth. Is this light ok for all types of clam?? Any clam keeper can share their views? Thanks.

My 5ft using drop in coil and daikin 1hp compressor. Set at 27degC and only cut in every 3hrs (est.) And run for ard 35mins.

correction "nitrate never comes down"

Strange enough when my uv is running my nitrate comes down no whether the amount of biopellet. Now with uv off the nitrate reading is coming down. Still testing. Once nitrate go below 30mg will turn on uv again

Tank is 5x2.5x2 and skimmer is deltec sc2060

I'm now changing around 40% water weekly and yes I see your point of just pure water changing. If I proved that my UV causes my >100mg nitrate due to my dying biopellet bacteria may consider just use conventional freshwater maintenance schedule (filter wool change and water change)

Quite true on type of setup and decide which to keep. As for both working together i still have doubt and trying out. It seems to work but not to the best especially biopellet

Realised that this 2 setup doesn't goes well if operate together (still in experiment) Would like to ask of opinon if you are to choose just 1 which one will leave it behind running? (Biopellet or UV) And why would you choose that? Please share.
