  1. chanbi: Could be! CaribSea is using that to cultivate their livesand. and Marc Weiss claims that ... "Conservatively stocked aquaria may not even need supplementation of calcium, magnesium, strontium, iodine, boron etc. at all! Higher density tanks may get by with small water changes! " My Ph has been at 8 (AquMedi), i wouldnt be borthered as long as my xenia r pulsing. Im getting conflicting N03 reading from various different testkit, but anyway they show up reading on the low side, cant really give full credit to the MM, as ive DSB too. hongqixian: U can get them from MarineLife at HongLeong
  2. Nah, dont think MM contributes to the constantly high calcium reading. Anyway, i just tested the water again with both Sera & salifert testkit both showing reading of around 550+ppm Alk still at 10dKH Ph at 8 (macroalgae at 24/7 photoperiod) Most of the corals r looking great Clam is fully expanded, and Xenia is still pulsing away(for day and night) Tanzy: Sure, dig soil & patent it
  3. Not much of experience here, but have been using it for only 2 months Corals and fishes does look healthy. Ive 5lbs of MM over 5" of DSB, and i dose Coral Vital LSB weekly Have not done any water change for 2 months so far, not even dosing calcium/alk/iodide..etc and the parameters are at alk 10dKh Cal 550ppm NO3 2ppm (seachem) but 12.5ppm on tetratest
  4. Or just feed the brain coral fresh seafood. Small piece of shrimp or alike works well. Tried 'Tetra Fresh Delica - brineshrimp' with success, its easier to feed becoz its in paste form.
  5. Try Sintec (or something, dont remember the name) 2nd or 3th of SimLim Tower. They've wide range of electronic ballast. You can get PL clip at $0.80 each, the endcap would cost $4+. About the bulb, it depends on your brand preference. btw, Natural Aquarium is selling electronic ballast at a cheaper price.
  6. Reef Energiser? Do u mean Reef Vital DNA? Ive been using that as well, doesnt seem to be boosting coraline growth does it give u any nuisance algae problem? Ive coral vital LSB too. Im not sure if this is the product that contributes to my constant calcium reading (550ppm), Alk 10 btw. I havent been dosing any additional suppliment for calcium/alk for 2months already. Im using it for my DSB + MM setup
  7. Hmm.. what kindof camera are u guys using? My pic doesnt seems to come out rite.
  8. And heres my 100% natural filter nano tank(2ft)
  9. They do shipment outside the US? Ive tried ordering stuff from other sites, most of them r not willing to ship outside US. Can you tell us about the shipment cost and maybe the collecting procedure? Thanks
  10. Yep, they'r all live They'r imported from oversea, so the price is quite reasonable for that quantity. Ive bought the rotifers, but i couldnt keep the culture alive for long :|
  11. Hmm.. true its tested for 99% water in Dr Ron Shimek food analysis http://www.animalnetwork.com/fish/data/foods.asp Marc Weiss product actaully proofs to be better.. or rather as nutrition as brineshrimp. Im currently trying their dry product ( TLF - PhytoPlan & MarcWeiss - BlackPowder) , am feeding them both to the tank and brineshrimp
  12. Nothing beats live plankton! but its too much trouble keeping a constant supply of live culture anyone tried Spectra Vital from Marc Weiss? it claims to turn brineshrimp red and vital suppliment for rotifer. would save lots of trouble using dry product rather then feeding phyto to zoo to keep them alive. Maybe a product review for this magic in a box (snake oil) product? haha
  13. Hey Achilles Tang, where did you 'Instant Algae' from?
  14. Few months back, someone is offering Zoo at $5 for 100,000 rotifers and $20/L of Phyto, you might wanna contact lamcy@cwc.nus.edu.sg on getting a starting culture.
