  2. tigershark: i think u'll be able to DIY MH too with $250 or abit more Rite, coloration is the word thanks for the comments ppl i got the bottom one shown in the pic from Aquamart 7 months ago, the one with golden rim(corrent me if im wrong) from MarineLife.   3. hehe tough luck huh I lost $30 worth of stuff to the poweroutage imagine fitting water from 8hr unlighted sump(2ft tank) with full bed of macroalgae into your display tank!! anyway lots of hairalgae & other microalgae went away with the outage
  4. I think that would depends on the species of the clam Ive those 2 clams under 4x36w PL light (one been in my tank for 7 months, another just 1 month), so far so good. Hmm.. cant affort MH? how much does it cost you to DIY your 4x36 PL + 2x18 FL ?

Em, i heard soft coral would benefit from Antinic light, how true is that? im speaking in term of soft coral in general, not xenia Oh and i agree on xenia been delicate, they're known for bad transporter, and they're the first that died in my tank after 8hours of poweroutrage. They dont do well in tank with carbon too i heard.

  8. Em, how does your LFS pack your snails? Half bag filled with water? or just enough water to keep them damp? Normally they would give me just enough water to keep them damp.. so i would just dumped them in rite away as soon as i got home. do a search on "snail acclimation" on the forum in RC lots of discussion on it Dr Ron stated high survival rate for snails if trasported damp. Gotto try it for yourself to believe

  10. haha, somehow it works for me anyway the "Good" Dr cant be always rite newdamsel: look at the tank u got the fish from, r there any invert? or just simple ask the vendor if they've dosed copper in that tank.
  11. Arent snails supposed to be hardy? I just dumped them in rite away .. they're still alive (all of it) thats what the Dr Ron from RC do as well.
  12. Its just calcium skeleton, go ahead and break it I used a scissors (those with big handle for cutting meat) for that operation.
  13. They're classfied as pest algea on http://www.wetwebmedia.com/greenalg.htm for growing too fast. Sounds good for nutrient export. Heard they need to be given strong/medium current or else they'll turn white. Will prob try it soon. Any idea whats the name of that ferry looking algae commonly sold in LFS? The one that looks like Bryopsis
  14. for mine, Yep the pulsing is really weak on the 1st day in my tank. then it gets better and now it decided to do equal count of pulse per day..haha
  15. My xenia pulses 24/7 heh .. as long as they're given low to no current. Not sure about my iodide level..didnt have a testkit

    It expanded too much and started touching other corals, so ive to trim it down. Frogspawn would be nice, do you have a pic of it? can u show us your blastomussa wellsi too? And heres the pic of the Alveopora.

  18. Hey nivlac, whats the NO3 reading of your makeup water? i tested mine for 2ppm and the tank water tested for 5ppm i want to hit a lower reading, not sure if getting rid of NO3 in the makeup water helps.

  22. i just checked the water parameter from http://www.pub.gov.sg/ws_potable_water.htm NO3 and Silica seems high..but still do we really need RO/DI unit? anyone here solved their algae problem after using Ro/DI water?

  25. Have you check with the FAQ on Seachem's site? They recommend that u shake & tap the powder regent on something hard.
