  6. well they've been recognized as useful cleanup crew.. but of coz they're always blacksheep check out http://www.reefland.com/rho/0305/medprod3.php and also 3 other articles on bristle worm http://reefkeeping.com/issues/2003-03/rs/index.htm http://reefkeeping.com/issues/2003-04/rs/index.htm http://reefkeeping.com/issues/2003-05/rs/index.htm
  7. Interesting read "Clean Up Review Clean Up Crews" http://www.reefland.com/rho/0305/medprod3.php
  8. hm. yea.. never tried on something that fat..i mean challenging.. i didnt really chisel the skeleton base, i cut it with scissor meant for meat
  9. hey sis I think u need to read up on setting up FOWLR (fish only with Liverock) tank .. u can most probably find more info on cycling marine tank with various filters on article/forum discussing FOWLR... i'll be starting a new thread soon.. documenting my process of converting my already established FOWLR tank to SH tank.. hoping that it will be helpful to other SH newbie too
  10. Look for the cross sectional area with the lowest diameter (Marked with green line in the pic) Tie rubber band around it to create some tension to the tissue (they should not be showing skeleton with that tension) Tighten the rubber band every week, and finally the tissue should be separated. Just chisel the base skeleton carefully to separate them. I used to feed my brain small chunk of shrimp (those tiger shrimp from wet market) to accelerate the growth. Good luck and have fun!
  11. dude...the red open brain is so ready for propagation! ive done it b 4 and can provide surgery tips
  12. em.. u went crusing around beaches rite? never seen seagrasses in local shore?? (ive not)
  13. Check it out...very impressive! im on my way in establishing something like that in my main tank http://www.reefcentral.com/forums/showthre...threadid=620824
  14. Pics taken more than a year ago 1 - Reticulated Puffer (Arothron reticularis) 2 - Green Whitespotted Puffer (Arothron hispidus) 3 - Porcupine puffer (NO PIC ATM) Additional info : puffers feeding well and healthy, may arrive with teethmarks on body, owner will get to see fights everyday when having more than 1 puffer in a tank.
  15. yes..they need lights primary.. and also balance amount of iron / PO4 & NO3, lacking either of those and your microalgae MAY outgrow your macroalgae..
  16. oh dont worry..they dont really make good sandbed cleaner.. its purely for cosmetic IMO.. bristleworm is good enu
  17. how did BMT go then? how did u control urself?
  18. Hi, what are the sandbed infauna/cleanup crew that you saw at cutthroat prices? i dont know anyone offering worms/pods locally ..hmm..
  19. Hi, what kindof algae is giving you problem? what about NO3 level? Im using Salifert too.. likes it..and comes with good customer support (u can post your query to the CEO/Chemist of salifert in RC)
  20. Hi i didnt seem to have luck with having hermit and snail together so heres my favorite 3ft tank 1 donkey dung sea cuke 4 trochus snails X bristle worms ive read that star/shrimp/hermit will actaully kill off benificial sand/rock dweller..so i'll stay away from them
  21. mUAr_cHEe : WAHHHH!!! somebody : because i cannot effectively get the waste generated in maintank to the tank with DSB, and the footprint size of the 20g high tank is too small for effective DSB.
  22. oh yea..very useful tool i got my Proscraper 1 http://www.kentmarine.com/maintenance/pro1.html from PetMart, not sure if they still carry it... but a credit card material thingy will work as well
  23. ive a 20g high tank/refug of 3 years, it has 5" DSB (wrong move...too) and macroalgae on 24/7 36w PL light. the substrate consist of C3 / C1 sand + miracle mud .. top layer still looks "muddy" after 3 years of coexistence. It has been my ONLY filter (other than liverock) for my 2 years ago reef setup, have added remora skimmer recently for my current puffer fishes tank. i do have lots of bristle worms and copepod. Did a test recently by dropping flake food and poof!.. they're ready for canning..hrhrhr .. j/k i do not see anything sux with having a refug, but it really depends on what u're trying to achieve, it works great as a filter for reef only setup, but not really for high bioload fishes setup.
  24. Hey Chris, may i know what is their length in 3 - 4 mnts? Thanks
