What, who inspired u to start Marine Tank?
CKS replied to kraziworm83's topic in General Reefkeeping_
Sea monkey. No joke -
stix: yes .. any animal u intent to introduce should be given the corrent parametes! Jaslyn: u can try the drying method i posted earlier they'll crash ur tank if ur filter is not good enu to take care of the decomposing dead snail ..
-
wow..i hope this is not a propaganda post.. not too sure if u can use this medium to invoke political influences anyway... im not siding any parties.. but just wanna highlight something from CIA's finding I quote from CIA's world fact book on Singapore "llicit drugs: as a transportation and financial services hub, Singapore is vulnerable, despite strict laws and enforcement, to be used as a transit point for Golden Triangle heroin and as a venue for money laundering"

hm.. i dont feel safe having a pump in the overflow box.. that will disturb the overflow isnt it? yea i think its good idea to put it in the sump where it gets direct current from overflow .. but i do not really have enu space in my cabinet plus my sump has thick euro bracing anyway the skimmer is producing consistance amount of skimmate.. so i wouldnt be worried about efficiency so much
-
em yea.. dry have tried holding them dry for nearly 40min learnt it from Dr Ron @ reefcentral.com

Actaully those pyramid-shelled snail r trochus. They're commonly available for $1 .. they can be spotted around the southen coast of Singapore as well they're effective against hairalgae .. i do see their bite marks amoung the brown film algae .. but i think my magnet cleaner is more effective they do not seems to prey on macroalgae many factors why they died in your tank... assuming ur is already cycled.. NO3 is already at satisfactory level.. maybe they couldnt acclimatize ?? how did u transport ur snail from LFS to ur tank and acclimatize? normally i'll request the LFS sales person to not to add water to the bag.. so i'll transport them dry... or if u insist on transporting them wet u can try to place them in empty container and let dry for 15min to allow them to expel excess saltwater..b 4 introducing them into your tank.

yea sortof.. im just trying my best to minimize the risk of ###### in pods lavals .. SH wont die in FW immediately at least .. not too sure how long the parasite will take to evacuate in FW dipping .. but dont think i wanna dip SH in FW for more than 2 min
-
true true... i think it really depends on where u position the skimmer.. directly fed from return pump/overflow..etc there're studies done that concluded that skimmer does reduces the population of pods.. but i didnt really go into the details .. not sure at what position did those researchers fixed their skimmer at.. well anyway my sump/refug is really a safe heaven for pods breeding as they'll not be much predation.. placing a skimmer there may suck in the lavars b 4 it has got a chance to be fully developed i feel
-
Yep.. considering the fact that remora is pretty efficient in my tank, dont wanna reduce my lovely pods

Chaetomorpha is fed with direct current from overflow they're trapped onto egg crate acting as floss
-
messy sump... more of a refug really.. -Added a 12v DC fan directing air out of the cabinet Have the following algae ... Ulva, Chaetomorpha, Udotea flabellum Been experimenting with having chaetomorpha in high flow (center of the sump) and low flow (on the left side of the sump).. Seems like low flow does increase the growth rate in my tank conditions
