Err.. Bro Crabs.. A palette tang IS a blue tang. Other names for it are Regal Tang, Hippo Tang... Some info for you on the names - Paracanthurus hepatus
-
Few differences are, there is a black spot on the dorsal fin of the royal gramma, also the coloring of the royal gramma's purple fades off into the yellow, while the bi-color dottyback has two definite colors that don't fade in to each other. Lastly there is a black stripe across the face of a royal but none on the dottyback. As for the great difference in pricing.. A bicolor dottyback cost about $5, while a Royal Gramma is about $35. Should we form a TANG CLUB?

another LT tang owner... SHOW PICS!!!! -
If it's sampling the food, but spitting it out still, it's okay. The angelfish is just getting used to the food. Try to approach the feeding of it slowly, it is still scared of it's envoirnment, thats why it keeps hiding when you feed it. As for you garlic question - Soak it in garlic guard. Also, use something like a syringe or turkey baster to put a little food at a time into the tank, it helps alot as it doesn't scare the fish too much.. Hope this helps..
-
It's not good and definitely not okay to let a angelfish continue eating algae off rocks. Not enough nutrition to fight off bacteria and diseases. Angelfishes, like some tangs, need to be trained to take frozen food when they are purchased. Like many times stated in this forum, try to buy only those who are already feeding at LFS. Bicolors and Yellow angels can be quite finicky sometimes, and need training.. Try different methods and see which one works best.. Methods to try- Live Brine Shrimp Nori (Seaweed) Henry's Food (From ML) Soak food in Garlic Mysis Shrimp

Definitely not a red-sea specimen.. But still a nice pacific sailfin tang.. Upz for you bro..

Do give us updates on the naso bro.. I was always curious on how these big tangs could adjust to eating frozen or dried food.. Especially when we all know that the bigger the tang, the fussier the tang.. Good luck with the tang bro, can't really give any advice on the tang for you.. haha, afterall you're a goldmember in tang club.. should be you give me advice.. haha.. Anyway.. More pics on the tang!! More!!

paul, i must really ask this question - is the naso eating? haha.. looking at the size of that tang, i think i know where you got it from..

Very hard to find pictures of the red bamboo algae on the net, unless you know the scientific name.. Just go to any of our sponsors LFS and ask for the red bamboo algae.. they'll show you.. And the tangs not eating but very active is not exactly a good thing as the activeness will make them thin very fast..
-
It is because of their high metabolism rate that they are able to lose their pot belly within a day or two without feeding.. Unless your fish is lazy and greedy.. So just feed your Naso more often.. But watch out for more bioload too..
-
If your naso tang is a show-size tang, and it doesn't start feeding soon, it may never feed again in captivity. However, if your naso is still in juvenile stage, you'll have a high chance of getting it feeding..

How to know tat Ich had died in display tank?
akahoshi replied to bryanong's topic in Disease treatment/parasite/pest control
Just make sure you quarrantine any fishes going into that tank after you finish your 56days fishless program.. or else you'll be back to square one.. -
Yup, just got to be more careful next time when we buy fishes.. Do keep us updated on the fish..

Matchmaking for Maroon Clowns can be quite difficult.. Especially Golden Stripes.. That's one reason why a pair of GS Maroon can be sold at quite a nice price.. If you think the current one you have is a male, then buy a bigger maroon as its mate.. If you think the current one you have is a female, then buy a smaller one.. But then again, if you buy the clown and they fight, you'll be stuck with two GS maroons that are cannot be in the same tank..

Looks like the moral of the story is never put a damsel in a community reef tank..
