  8. iwarna: many wrasses left. Pink margin, Vila, pylei etc. mystery i think left 1 or 2. This time all came in very small, only about 1" but big enough to eat 1-1.5mm pellet. yellow flasher is beautiful and left 1 or 2 pieces. oblique still left many and big in size. Yellow mimic left a few. really look like lemon peel angel. very beautiful too. Regal angel and some other angels still left quite an handful. happy chionging.
  9. A picture that I initially didn't want to post due to it being badly taken. but hack, here is it as i got nothing much to show other than boring equipment pictures. cropped and ruined badly by my shaky hand. Taken top shot to show stronger color, it wasn't as strong if taken from the side. Purple Queen.
  10. Asked Garyj to mod my Kent marine Maxxima and he was really helpful to install some cool features for me. Just a note for reefer who thinks RO/DI is a waste of water resource. While it is true that it creates waste water but a twist of thoughts will make you comes out with some idea of recycling the water. Luckily, my washing machine is nearby, I drain the waste water into the washing machine for use. And also a portion for watering the plant. If you are using just DI unit, its further waste of money. This is because, water are very cheap, i believe it cost just a couple of dollars for 1000liters, imagine the "waste of water" VS "DI resin", which are more expensive? The DI resin of course. If you believe its a waste of natural resources of using RO/DI due to it wasting water and use just DI resin, think again. How much energy (in terms of fossil fuel, effort and time) is needed to manufacture "water" vs "DI resin"? I believe water takes lesser energy to process when compared with manufacturing DI resin. So... Think again. Changed to a 100GPD RO Membrane: Changed to new medium including the very well known carbon block (I never used it before but heard of its name): He helped to mount my booster pump directly on to the RO/DI stand, installed a flushing device and a flow restrictor to prevent too much waste of water: Added an addition pressure switch to prevent my booster pump from runing dry. was very thoughtful of him. My RO/DI unit looks so much neater now after he helped me with the "pipe management":
  11. random pic: was really surprised to see this efficiency after I off my skimmer for 3 days of praziquental treatment. a minute after on: a few minutes after a minute: shortly after a few minutes after a minute: authentic bubble tea, any one wants some? i will reward you with one polyp of hawaii dragon eye or a frag of purple queen. your pick. just kidding
  12. Random picture on my interesting event: 2 days back, had an interesting morning. was really honored to be invited to a private stable for a horse riding experience on once racing horses. the place was not fully built yet but the track was ready enough for a run. this is the horse showering after i lost control over it and dumped me into the sand to have a bite on dust while it sprints away, it left me with an swollen knee and limbing even till now. it was actually taking a walk with me on it but when it saw my friend's horse sprinting, it try to catch up and after a moment, i lost my balance and had a taste of their sands. i was told its typical racing horse character and, of course, my lousy riding skill. i was lucky to have little injuries but it was fun, and shall return to learn to control this fella again. guess i found myself another hobby.

    DIY Air Dryer/Filter

Hey Milchy, gum sia. Hi Thexder, yeah, its annoying. it lasted me about 4 days on a 500g of Silicon gel. These 4 days were raining heavily. Hope it can last a week on "normal weather". My advice is to use as much silicon gel as possible if you are setting a DIY.

    DIY Air Dryer/Filter

Tip: Don't glue the endcaps. This is for you to be able to change ur drying agent and filter wool in the future easily. And the clear PVC won't be able to take too much heat, so don't put it into the oven. if want to dry the agent, simply remove the endcap and pour the drying agents onto a container and sent it for a heat treatment. the drill bit i used is 6mm for the hard airline tube.

    DIY Air Dryer/Filter

First, drill one hole on one of the end cap and a couple of holes on the other one. For the endcap with only one hole drilled, a short(1") hard airline tube was glued into the hole. Next, cut a small portion of the eggcrate and insert it into both of the endcap. The purpose of this is to prevent the cotton wool for choking the holes and allow more even of air distribution through the tube. you will notice that the eggcrate is not flushed completely to the end of the end cap. Attached one of the endcap to the clear PVC pipe with one ball of filter wool in it and pour the drying beads into it. Attached the last remaining endcap to the clear pvc pipe and this will be the end product: The complete installment will be as shown:

    DIY Air Dryer/Filter

There's many version you can DIY your dryer with, but this is mine. Things you need: Some Eggcrates: A clear PVC pipe of 40-45cm (for easy view of within as the silicon beads will change color after exhaustion): 2 endcaps: Hard airtube (Size of the hard airline pipe with a comparison of standard eggcrate: Bottle of Silicon beads gel: 2 balls of filter/cotton wool: Glue: Misc item like drill bits and cutter.
  17. Greetings, The purpose of this air dryer is for my Sander 200mg ozonizer. Drying air improves the efficiency of the ozone output and for some cases, prolong the age of your ozonizer. Though its not really necessary to have an air dryer but i still wanted to make one to filter the dust off air to make it more of "maintainence free" for me. Picture of Sander 200mg. I had used some China branded ozonizer but finally settled down with a german Sander brand for its build and known durability. Furthermore, ozone is a dangerous element to add into the our water, so its better to get a reputable one. You can see the membrane filter of the Sander after removing the nozzle, the cool white membrane acts as an air filter and prevent water from sipping through. Acts as an prevention for water damage. But the down side of this white membrane is that you need to constantly wipe out the dust as it can trap alot of dust there, choking the nozzle and thus decreasing your ozonizer's efficiency. Pic of the ozonizer's filter membrane. Notice the dark spots of dust accumulating.
  18. this should answer your question. http://www.reefdreams.de/lang_eng/info_4_eng.html furthermore, you wont need a CR or KR for your size. Manual dozing might be more save and cost efficient for you.
  19. to me it looks like hole in the head. if you are sure its not diet and environment problem, you should try octozin which stated to get rid of hexamita. a parasite that cause HLLE on the outside. all the best.
  20. Just ground your water with those titanium or similar probe. that should solve your problem. all the best.
  21. hi, yes, its worth a visit there. do pay a visit there and enjoy their great culture diversity and as for you.. hi Larry, I didn't realize it at first but when i review my pictures, saw some flaws in that.
  22. knew it! i was questioning the integrity of that picture. hope its true but that not very economical. expenses vs profit(for them) will not be good. but for sure, it will greatly benefit the locals and tourists. and taxic/bus driver will be having tougher times with that.
  23. couldn't agree more. sun/kill your rocks, then see your tank with coraline algae later. my advice is to get the cheapest rock possible and kill it all. all the best in ur search.
  24. hope they are all well enough to stay healthy to end your wait. Hi lilo, thank you, I got them by chance in LFS in Singapore or by trade with some wonderful reefers around.
  25. Yes, i believe that should do the reverse, dun worry as long as you compensate. btw, I'm not referring to you but someone else. happy reefing "hahaha"
