  2. ouch that gonna be hurting. im sure theres more unit thats good selection for you. just need to be patience. good things need to wait.
  3. initially its hard, but after they sense my love for this hobby. they gave way for it. and sponsored mmost of my equipments! hehe thats a pretty lucky case for me. btw, get them involve, buy those fish they like. make ur tank nice nice. so they will appreciate it more. my dad always complain about the tank but these days, he will be boosting how much $ he put into the tank etc etc when theres visitor. but its more like my effort and time. btw its a 6.5ft tank
  4. im throwing these food like crazy in to my tank. i mix it with the vege ones. theres 2 types. green and red. green ones are the ones with more vege.
  5. thats pretty accurate for your estimation of 240l and my 200l
  6. then you can do without a booster pump. i believe booster pump is for some cases. im currently trying to find a pressure guage for the RO vessel. i heard i can find it in jalan besar. but that road is so long, finding it without proper address is time consuming. hope those who knows can enlighten me.
  7. Hi ben, its good. self running, except for manual feeding for fish. thanks for asking.
  8. hi-end or not its all still basic cannister doing the same job. no need to get branded ones. waste of money. best to get those cheapest ones, they all perform equally. for RO membrane to work properly, we need about 50-70PSI right? if im not wrong, from what i read from Dow Filmtec specification, optimal pressure is 70PSI. and for those who stays on higher level on flats, pressure was suppose to be lower. but i could be wrong. so do double check. you can also ask them to ship you a pressure guage to ensure it. i use the booster pump because it was a spare lying around, better to use it then letting it rot and rust. and from what i know, pressure plays a part in the rejection ratio too.
  9. hey steven, its a comma(,) not a stop(.). so its $30K and this resort was planned as a 16th birthday present for the builder's granddaughter. darn lucky girl! can i be his grandson too? hehee i dun mind a late 16th birthday present. 30K for a week is still cheaper than the dubai's underwater hotel that was said to be $5000 per room per day. anyway, these plans are still being carried out. not yet officially opened. but i think the resort in figi will be up soon.
  10. well i cant imagine too. and i wont believe myself will be spending $30K for these unless im wealthy till a certain extend. taken from wiki: Reservations at the resort will initially cost $30,000 per couple, per week. looks like a good getaway for a nice honeymoon or... with mistress.
  11. LOL! or maybe out a diver nearby hidden among the rocks.
  12. take it easy jim, your time of ease will come. i can understand how you feel. last time i brought back a 2x1x1, my mum already screaming at me liao
  13. oh, i didnt know that. just check their spec, the width is 18cm which is very small as compared to my 75cm. anyone using it without complains wuth 75 with just single unit? i fear its not enough. very likely i will need 4 of the 230W ones if im switching to LED. the cost will be
  14. http://www.fixr.com/blog/2010/01/27/10-spectacular-underwater-structures/ just a teaser. picture taken from http://www.fixr.com/blog/2010/01/27/10-spectacular-underwater-structures/ nothing beats the natural. most of us have part of the ocean in our home but how many of us have our home in part of the ocean?
  15. i think for 4 feet should need atleast 2 set of those for decent coverage. but i could be wrong. im looking into LED recently as well as heat generated from T5 and MH can be very displeasing to the living room.
  16. basically its a Kent marine Hi-S Maxxima. http://www.marinedepot.com/Kent_Marine_Hi_S_Maxxima_60_GPD_RO_DI_System_50_to_75_Gallons_Per_Day_RO_DI_Water_Filter_Systems-Kent_Marine-KM1431-FIRORDFS-KM1433-vi.html fitted with a booster pump. i am also going to hook up another 2 stage cannister thats left lying in my store. btw, if any one wants to get a RO/DI, visit bulkreefsupply.com they have got a huge range at resonable price. and just in case for those who don't know, RO membrane can last for a few years when taken care off. they are afraid of Cl ions, which can be reduced by use of carbon. and if you think its a waste of water using RO, well... think again, how much $ on water waste Vs just DI resins. furthermore, water are very cheap and could be recycled. in the even of those people who feel bad about wasting the water, you can put another RO membrane on the waste water output so more water was saved instead of wasted. btw Peter, dun drink too much RO water. our body need certain elements from it.
  17. also really depends on the time of the day. different time on the tap water will have different readings. and yes, my tap water can hit 200ppm which is why i gave up my crystal pro after just 1 single use. one water change of about 200 litre can KO 2 resins if im not wrong. now using RO/DI. so much better interms of money saving.
  18. I lost the contacts for those who shown interest due to all my pms gone after software upgrade. for those who has interest, do pm me again. thank you.
  19. Choa Chu Kang - 96 ppm Jurong West - 165 ppm (Jalan Bahar - ~200) Clementi - 125 ppm Bishan - 112 ppm Bukit Panjang - 92 ppm
  20. just to add for larry's part, profilux also did came out their own hydor wavemaker module sometime ago too.
  21. the six line can be a pain for other fish. especially wrasse, given that its well settled. the dottyback as well.
  22. as usual, japan pulling the major strings on different minor nations to pull the strings together.
  23. aquatronica can be more user friendly. profilux have got alot of more functions and things to played with: 1) itself is a tunze controller. but since u using vortex, might not be useful. 2) moonlight/dust/dawn/lightning LED strips. buy seperately 3) have got infrared sensor. and also external water level sensor. both for water top up. which is alot more safer. 4) their software are constantly being updated more frequently together with more gadgets release. the above listed are just of the few. more you could read their online manual. which i believe you know where to get it since your signature picture is most likely taken from the website. i believe others can chip in more. so far, im happy with my profilux
