  1. RD was the last if im not wrong, sometime last year after aquarama. and thats where i got the bicolor supersuns. and always good to have some refreshment for new fellows.
  2. i tot you mentioned you are using a red dragon which means a BK? or you have more than one tank or skimmer? i agree with what fred mentioned. want to save money => go skimz. if got extra $ for ease ==> deltec, the newer version do look good. just my opinion.
  3. yum yumm, same same, another T5 user looking good on the sps. color is well. care to share what tubes you are using in order? and hows the growth like? keep it up. AT is easy when you get a feeding one right on the spot. and when ur tank is establish, no need to fear on ick.
  4. but he said its healing, so its likely not necrosis from what i experience. and yes a pic will be able to help even him more. thanks kai. i didn't seen one thats appealing to my eyes for sometime now. do keep me posted.
  5. the group asteriidae can be some how divided into 3 genera if im not wrong, not just those ugly looking fellas that can be seen in my tank sometimes. its quite frequently i seen these genera though, espeically in CF, but not as common as those linkias, formia etc. they can be pretty in appearance unlike those pest like and can be easily confused with others at times. btw, if anyone seen any cumingi stars, do keep me a post.
  6. you are a very lucky man to have your wife. up for that fact.
  7. how long you kept the starfish? and what kind of star fish? some species are more sensitive 3 reasons here. 1) Some species of star fish also reproduce asexually by fragmentation. 2) like what ketchup suggested, might be attacked. 3) which i hope its not. tissue necrosis. which means the cells in the starfish start to die bit by bit until it rots away completely. cause is still unknown as far as i know but its mostly related to water quality/exposure to air etc. if it just keep rotting away more, then its most likely necrosis. you can try to stop it by wiping diluted iodine soaked cotton wool/bud on the rotting area. try to do it in a way that its not in full exposure in the air. its going to be tricky but possible. so far i tried this method, and it did help in slowing the necrosis but i couldnt save the starfish in the end on all occasion, perhaps its due to my water quality then. but theres one time i did stop the necrosis completely with iodine but after a week or so, necrosis appears again. all the best.
  8. yes, like what holachantus mentioned. from the fin, its cauliflowers, belongs to a kind of virus. no known cure yet as far as i know. its not fatal and normally will go off on its own when your water quality improve in my experience. but the belly area looks like sore to me more. i suggest improve your water quality, feed less and hope for the best. btw furan is kind of antibiotic, befuran & furan-2 are marketed names.
  9. http://news.xin.msn.com/en/singapore/article.aspx?cp-documentid=4021710 some updates.
  10. mai tu liao la. for my next tank. if its ever going to be one, i will use the better optics for 1
  11. hi steven, i find that you will need larger rocks for that kind of tank size. what do you think?
  12. can but it will be very stressful to them which might kill them in the end. i heard some success stories but i would not encourage it.
  13. if theres a better pic, i can be more accurate. it can be ucler or similar bacteria infection. can use furan to treat if thats the case.
  14. careful... if its bought from duty-free liqour shop, you cannot sell it off to another person. you are liable to get urself legal trouble IF they found out.
  15. nice nice. how much u paid for it?
  16. you are welcome. Goldenface is a nice friend of mine. do be nice to the kind gentleman.
  17. have got a blue tub to loan. price: $0 but would be happy to recieve 1.5l coke lite. condition: collection at jurong and deliver back to my place when done, the tub must be return in relatively similar condition when i passed to you, hopefully not beyond 10 days of lending as i need it for my water change as well (just in case)
  18. just happened to be listening to lecturor that day.
  19. sound logical. do let me know if you are getting a pressure guage. i want to get one as well. thanks Peter.
  20. thanks Peter. so i think one day that will make 270 liter. the differenct from 100gpd could be due to pressure being lower than the recommended. what do u think?
  21. Bino, i hope you are well soon.
  22. nice work done Peter btw, i was wondering how much time needed to produce 1liter, though it said to make 100gpd, sometimes it should be an estimation.
  23. darn, im good kidding kidding some interesting facts to share. PMMA was the first material used for contact lense. it was first discovered during WW2 that PMMA is some what bio inert when a pilot's eye got hit by a fragment from his fighter plane window panel and the pilot's body didnt have much rejection to that material.
  24. if im not wrong, plexiglass is a kind of acrylic marketed. the material used is polymethyl methacrylate (PMMA) so it belongs to the plastic category. and yes, it will be expensive.
