  1. this is what i face, at no flow, sweepers extended all out and try to sting others in different directions. mid flow, sweepers will still there but in uni direction on most catchs. high flow, sweepers will not be there. you can try increasing your wave in your main tank to see how things goes first. and im sorry i dunno much regarding orange sponge vs the galaxy
  2. Dear All, I had a basic question as i can't find a definite answer from the internet. My current method for water change : I pre-mix the sea salt into water and stored in 2 large water bag (without aeration). This is to save time/trouble for my weekly water change as 2 bag can last me one month plus. Which is to say, i only need to mix sea salt with water monthly. I would like to check whether this current method is ok? Yes it is possible, use a small pump to circulate the water. if not, i think its will be fine since its "sterile" unlike NSW. just stir the water abit before water change. Will the mineral in the water "die" off after time and cause my weekly water change to be useless/ineffective? no it wont. it is ok, or perhaps like what cedric suggested, iodine might go away so dose it to supplement it after you do your waterchange. i'm currently going to set up my auto water change system, will leave the premixed water in a big pail too. i dun see any problem being like this.
  3. my pleasure. the price can be found here. http://www.sgreefclub.com/forum/index.php?showtopic=89156
  4. hi xian, details of PAR38 is there in the link. http://www.sgreefclub.com/forum/index.php?showtopic=89384&pid=928305&st=0&#entry928305
  5. i like your simplicity scape. nice! try doing some macros. i would like to see your corals.
  6. on all electronic timer that model of yours i used it before for my lights. but one of the switch out of 3 got "stucked" and can't be controlled anymore after a year of using. so try not to stress it too much by switching too often .
  7. jimmy, i see some potentials in this tank of yours. fill it up with zoas. add in a mini wavemaker and it will seem good.
  8. IME, flame angel has got itchy mouth, on most occasions, they wont harm corals while pecking. they just seem to want a taste of their slime. so dun worry to much on it
  9. from what i experience in my early days, when my Ca and KH are too high, some corals don't open. maybe you can try lowering your Ca as your main priority as a current problem solving solution.
  10. check your water parameter. its not right. check PO4, Ca, KH, pH, NO2, NO3. I would check Ca and KH more. and if possible, do a water change. all the best.
  11. hi wilson, no bro, everyone can do those kind of shots, just need more practice and imagination. me still taking my own sweet time on SPS, not alot of "fate" with them. Everytime during SPS shipment, i was always abit too late till the good looking sexy ones are gone. but its okay, things kept coming often. your sps seem doing well, all looks so hairy. ahem ahem...
  12. sand wrasse can hide under the sand for more than 2 weeks when first introduced. dun need to fear if it didnt come out during the first 2 weeks.
  13. LFS that i seen bringing in MC wrasse so far: LCK ML CF (being most often) all the best in your hunt.
  14. i like this . nice composition.
  15. its an useful piece of equipment but take note of not switching it too often. it will decrease the lifespan of the switch inside.
  16. Hi, I recommend at least about 18W UV for you. UV is more efficient in higher w and contact time. but take note they are like small heater too.
  17. actually, i believe they will be alot of plankton(zooplankton etc) for most smaller fishes. Hi alcatraz01, if your water quality is poor, then try to solve it by improving your filtration system and do more water change. As long that fella is eating and treated for disease, it shld be good. do try your means to improve your LS's environment. and do without live adult brineshrimp, they are "empty" food with poor nutrition value and never believe in live food because you never know what kind of bacteria/parasite they brought with them.
  18. Hi Yujin, For 8hrs, you might just want to consider battery operated air pumps. it is sufficient.
  19. you need about 80-100kg of rocks depending on the rock weight/density vs size ratio. dry rock is a good idea in my opinion as it KO unwanted parasite. all my LR are fresh but i still give it a suntan for 1 week and water treatment for 2 weeks. as far as i know, i saw some dried LR in Mainland aquarium in pasir ris farmway 1. you could try your luck there, if not, just get some LR. the cheapest LR i seen is from LCK(Steven). cost $4/kg. all the best.
  20. spend some money on LED, PAR38 seem to be good for your size. upgrade some of your equipments like chilling(chiller) & implement a sump. and do away the damsels if possible. they will be a pain in the near future.
  21. that's what happened to me on that lineatus and previous rhomboid as well. lost balance, lower part of body seem paralyzed. its a pain to see it go, but its better to end it suffering soon. i ended their life in the freezer. all the best.
  22. tip: place the coral in high flow area, for doing that, the coral will not extend its sweeper that much or wont depending on the kind of flow. they can tolerate high flow well. place similar coral that can tolerate high flow beside.
  23. Hi yellowtang, thank you so much for the compliments. you make my day.
  24. Thank you for the kind words Jeremy.
