bought a pair of tigertails around 3inches long and another pair of seahorse which i couldn't tell which species... or even if they're a pair or not okies... both are totally black in colour... no hint of yellow or even grey on any parts of their body... and the female had lots of looks like roots growing out her tips all over her body, even though she's about 1/4 bigger in size than the tigertails, she had a broader chest & a even broader snout. the male was identical except he's about 1/3 bigger & does not have roots growing out from his tips... sorrie din owned a digicam... so no pics would someone pls advice me? and they're feeding very well on freshwater shrimps as they have a really big snout... the tigertails still not showing interest in frozen mysis & they do get distracted by the sight of fws but they still dun go after it like my alligator pipes & the other pair of sh.... sian1/2

plus my gator pipe had turned into a strange colour too... most gator pipe i saw were of a yellowish green with black streaks... mine was of darker greenish brown with faint red streaks throughout his body, concentrating more on his underside of his tail, bottom side edges of his body & sides of his head.... facinating... the gator i think was female, mostly greyish black with red streaks not dat striking as the male... is smt wrong with my water or the colours are okies de?
-
well they finally tried nipping on frozen mysis... *phew* havent gone fw shrimping yet but i bought a pack wit plenty of small ones... but juz as a sh started to move forward to see more clearly, the alligator pipe juz slurp it down... and the sh still cant get the smallest shrimp down.... still too big.... sianz after i thawed a cube of mysis with some garlic mixture & squirt into the tank, they started to show interest oni after the mysis had landed on the bottom for some time... and they looked really hard & long before deciding to nip... even so, most of the time it was the female that was eating... the male like was just observing the female & the gator pipes makaning. till now there's no signs of thin sides of both sh tummy too... now the female had turned to almost all yellow, oni the top of the head & the spine shades of black & grey. the male remained blackish grey with the yellowish parts oni visible on his tail segment... why is it so? the female i remembered having the colour almost identical with the male... is it smt wrong with my water?
-
nice pics! *envy* my tigertails started to nip on frozen mysis finally... but they totally ignored live bs wor... why huh?
-

have ar? lolx i'm sure was interested... tried west coast today... eee sucks... nothing at all man... the coastal line, the big longkang... nothing at all! omg me staying in the west... other than west coast there's no shoreline liao... or anybody can suggest? me juz bought a pair of tigertails... for $50sia... feel kanna tok liao... but bo bianz... but they dun seemed to be feeding lei... tried frozen mysis & live brineshrimps... not abit interested... but when i tried live fw shrimps, they attacked the shrimps... but gave up soon after they can't managed to suck in the shrimps... i already choose the smallest ones but still too big for them... now munching on pods & other tiny bugs in the tanks... any idea guys? before they starved to death!

me feeding with freshwater shrimps that can be easily bought at fish shops..... i never know a creature with a tube for its mouth can be so fierce when feeding! it'll swim in a upside down manner in a creeping pace when it sighted its prey.... with both its eyes fully intended on the shrimp... then when it had reached near enough, it'll stop breathing & slowly arch its head back before *snap*! gotcha! the sound of the mouth snapping on the shrimp was quite audible wor... facinating.... heex... would love to see a sh feed like that!
-
fantastic! but dun think my tank can hold such a big species lei... how much would it take to built a 2x1x2ft tank? would it be sufficient? the bt aquarium shop once held several seahorses in a cramped 1ft tank.... yet the seahorses are breeding... ironic huh? for now i think my tank can oni take in 2pairs of smaller species sh... like barbouris... currently the sh tank's sharing a sump tank filled with ecosystem miracle mud planted with macro algae with my 2ft nano reef tank... and it's so interesting to feed my alligator pipes with live shrimps.... stealth & fierce sia... lolx

yup... oceanrider dun ship internationally... but seahorse australia does... they only offered wad they called "southern knights", looks pretty chio with its spiney bits & nice shades of white or gold... but omg must be maintained below 22c! nevertheless i emailed them to quote me the shipping & handling charges, since each costs A$22, which seems a good deal. but they took so darn long to reply & goes like this(i've searched my inbox for it lolx Hello Jonathan, Thankyou for your email. I am sorry to take so long to reply. Yes, you can buy directly from us, however freight costs from Australia may be higher than you're expecting. - cost is $22 per seahorse, + freight. Freight to Singapore for 1 box (up to 54 seahorses) is $383.50. You are the 3rd person from Singapore who has contacted me this week - would you be interested in me giving your email address to the other 2 intersted people, and perhaps the three of you could consider getting a shipment together to save on freight costs. Thanks for your interest in farm-bred seahorses and seahorse-conservation. regards Rachelle Hawkins Manager Seahorse Australia www.seahorse-australia.com.au ph 03 63 834 811; fax 03 63 834 812 so sad... to make this shipment worth well, so muz stock up 54 seahorses... that's gonna cost A$1571.50!!! = almost S$2k!!! sianz... couple of months back i bought 3 barbouris & 2 tigertails from lck110 & cactus drive... think after my sump was cleared of dsb & add another sump for my dsb, i'm going back again for the barbouris... so water circle dun sell to public anymore? may i know where can i get those magnificent reidis? or other places selling other species other than tigertails & barbouris?
