  1. If anyone has a unit or spare, and willing to let go, pls notify me. Thanks!
  2. Hi bro, this was what I did to get saltwater when I first got the tank. Clean the tank. Put in distilled water. I bought 5 cartons (60 bottles of 1.5L) of distilled water from ntuc. "life" brand is good. You'll just need 4 cartons. If you have your DI unit, even better. Run your pumps with this water for a day first to test for leaks and circulation. I know it will be expensive water down the drain if got leak.. But the hassle saved if everything ok, is worth it. After a day, add salt. Let the circulation continue to dissolve the salt, prob another day. Test salinity. Add salt as appropriately. Do your rockscape and pour in sand. Kickstart the ANN with a piece of market prawn. At this juncture, I dose Brightwell Aquatics MicroBacter7 according to the dosage recommended on the bottle. Then wait. I kept peering at the piece of decomposing prawn meat daily. Today is day 24 of cycling. I haven't done water change, nor added any livestocks yet. Patience... My 2 cents..
  3. Thanks bro. Gonna take a look on thurs as I have meetings there.
  4. Hi bro, where is this Jeffrey? Mind sharing more details?
  5. It was mentioned XPG & XPE Cree chips. But no mentioned about the bins. Are these any good?
  6. True to the principles of patience, my tank has been cycling for 27 days already. NO3 is sky high. Yet I'm only planning to do 30% water change this weekend. My patience has never been this good. Haha. This is the tank when I first collected it. 2'x1.5'x1.5'. Front crystal glass. IOS of 6" at the back, makes a display tank of only 2'x1'x1.5'H. The tank has never touched water, yet selling at a big discount compared to if I were to custom make it at the cheapest glass cutter. However, the search started a few weeks back, when i saw a cabinet at a factory when I went to sell an iPad!! Haha. Turns out that the buyer is a reefer too. Now he's still helping me alot in my DIY projects. The reefer even helped me to spruce up the cabinet, added a 12" plinth, and added a hood. All using some of the best material I've ever seen. Thanks Marcuss! Pls don't ask me the price. Let's just say that I'm the daylight robber as the buyer. So the search started for a tank to fit the cabinet. A perfect fit indeed.
  7. Aiyo why I never thought about it. It works!! Thanks bro.
  8. I have had a 3-footer (2+years), and a 6-footer (3years), both basically a FOWLR setup. As i got both the tanks wholesale, the setups were pretty much up and running within 2 days. I confess that i have never done a proper cycling in my life before. Pretty soon, boredom sets in. I was also too lazy to revamp the systems. While seeing the movers move the latter 6fter which I gave away, I kinda felt a sense of loss. It really was a funny feeling. While the tank was sitting idle after selling the equipment and livestock, I found it a big eyesore in the living room. But while it was being wheeled away, I suddenly missed it very much. It think it's an "Ah Q Mentality". A hoarders' mentality basically. So.... A good way to cure the insanity? Start another tank!! Lol... But this time, I'm taking things s.s.s.l.l.o.w.w.w.l.l.y.y.y.y... And challenge the lower limits of a budget to setup a fish w softies w LPS nano tank. The few ways to setup a tank economically is as follow: 1. Buying used equipment. I think there is a science to doing this. a. Troll the forum every waking minute (I mean it!!). Well, having a mobile device with data plan certainly helps! Haha. b. Have a clear idea what equipment you would like to have. c. Patience has to be in great supply. I also think that there is an art to it. a. Look for rarely used, or lightly used equipment. b. since buying used, just go for reputable reliable brands. 2. For items I cannot find on the pasar malam, buy non-European brands. Nonetheless, I limit these to non essential equipment like fan, ermm.. what else ha? Or get those positively-reviewed China /Taiwan brand equipment. 3. D.I.Y. It's challenging. It's rewarding. The sense of achievement is addictive. The sense of ownership goes up several notches. The cost savings is healthy to my pockets. In addition, doing small DIY projects keeps the interest on-going on a regular basis. I will share my small DIY projects along the way. 4. Avoid mistakes!! How? by asking, asking, and asking! Reefers here are just too helpful. No horse run. Thank you to many reefers here! Even if I have made a mistake, or encountered problems, it usually gets answered here promptly. I have listed my principles here for the setting up. Stocking-up principles will be defined also based on selectivity and within the confines of the tank. More coming up.. Pics and projects will be posted..
  9. Have been using Tapatalk for a week+. Since 2 days ago I can't log in. At first thought admin kicked me out. But I'm able to login via IE and forum runner. Stranger still, I can access SRC via tapatalk on iPad! Just not on iphone... What could be the problem?
  10. Actually I had almost made up my mind on this. But after throwing open this topic, the Eshine Aquawasher seemed more suited for my narrow tank, and at only half the cost!! The bracket also made it easier to mount on my hood too. So, now I'm just waiting for some reefers to join in a bulk order. I should be posting the BO tonight. Please look out for it, after the mods' approval. Before I post the BO, can I just roughly gauge the interest here first? I'm ordering 1 unit Cree. Any others?
  11. I have been in contact with Roery from eshine today via email. He did mention that there are LED protectors for each Cree chip, but not the Bridgelux ones. So even when one of the Cree chips burns out, the rest of the chips will still work, as they do not burn out together. That is why replacing the Cree is more difficult, and also why not compatible. Price wise, the Bridgelux set is US$40. Cree set US$68. (30W set). Not much bulk discounts too. Cannot add dimmers. Shipping using DHL. The price for the Bridgelux is really too tempting. I will be placing the lightset 15cm from the water surface. Will the Cree be too bright? Any advice?
  12. Day 7 of my 4"w x5"H. Using 1 single 10W LED warm white, Still looking at ways to increase bubble size. Tank is still cycling. No livestocks yet.
  13. Thanks for sharing Amby. Any reefers interested in bulk purchase of the aquawasher? I will need one pc. Guess it'll take multiples of 3s to minimize shipping charges ya.
  14. Hi bro chiya, unfortunately that's the space constraints I'm facing with the iOS. I somemore it an oversized for my tank (over rated by 3 times- greedy me). Just hoping a portion of the pods population escapes the skimmer, don't get chopped up by the Eheim, and returns to the display. Haha. As for the live rocks solution, can biohome perform the same function to stick the microbubbles?
  15. My display is only 60x30x45(H), you reckon 1 pc of the aquawasher (5white 5blue) in a single grow can suffice for the tank? Softies and LPS only. Bro Amby, what's the price of the aquawasher before shipping?
  16. Bro you have the pricing? Can't seem to see it on the website..
  17. There are not many ready-made solid cabinets that you can buy to hold a 200kg tank. Best bet is to find reefers here decomming their tank and you buy the whole set with the tank. Then again, transportation will add a chunk to your costs, as a 4 or 5 footer requires some extra manpower.
  18. Was quoted USD220 per unit with shipping. For 5 pcs and above, it's USD175 per unit with shipping. But I think GST will be imposed for >S$350 value. So should be 7% more ie USD187.25 per unit for 5 units and above. But the important is, still, any reviews here in Singapore. They do PayPal, so it think it should be safe enough..
  19. The build looks good, pricing is reasonable for Cree LEDs. 20x3W. C/w separate power for blue n white. Dimmable too. Anyone using this? Looking at some testimonials before placing order. http://www.ledgrowlights.cn/detail.asp?id=277 Or anyone interested to do bulk purchase to save shipping and bulk discount?
  20. Beware the critters when you saw the rocks ya. I had to chisel 2 pcs of rocks last weekend for scraping. Both the rocks had worms, quite a number of them. Just normal worms, none with bristles on them. These worms were found in holes tunneled within the rocks. Gave me a shock when the rock came apart, the worms peeked out of the holes! Ha! Maybe it's the source of the rocks ba. Both pcs were bought from the same LFS.
  21. Sorry bro, didn't hear from you. So the impatient me went to source elsewhere. Sorry I have to pull out my intention. It's super value that you are offering though. All the best for your sale.
  22. Bro are there 2 separate power supplies for the blue and white? ie 2 AC power plugs? Are you using any actinic bulbs?
