  1. Go for the big one lah bro. Now I'm regretting the lack of space to house more fish lol.
  2. Also just select the "ON" for just one day only. So even if there is an off/on sequence, it'll only happen once a week.
  3. @Madsxientist, testing done and report posted in the equipment forum (new thread). Your lights power sia..
  4. Hi, I have done a simple test using the 2 lights. Photos taken using a DSLR on a tripod. Both lights hung at 15cm above water surface. ISO constant at 1,000. White Balance "Fluorescent". The 2 different settings: 1) F8, 1/25". 2) F5, 1/50" The 2 light sets are: 1. Cree 24x3W dimmable. 12 Blue + 12 White. (50%B : 50%W) Dimmers at full power. This light is 30cm long from left to right. 2. 2 units of Bridgelux Aquawashers, each 10x3W. Total =20x3W 12 Blue + 8 White. (60%B : 40%W) Not dimmable. The light is 60cm long from left to right. I know it is not a fair comparison, as one set is 72W, the other 60W. The Blue:White ratio is also not similar. But for reefers who want such a comparison before making the jump can use this rough guide to, perhaps, make a better decision. Here goes.. 1a) Cree set, F8, 1/25" 1b) Bridgelux set, F8, 1/25" ********************************************************************** 2a) Cree set, F5, 1/50" 2b) Bridgelux set, F5, 1/50" It is very obvious the difference in the brightness between the 2. Whether it is down to the extra 12W, or more white ratio, it is difficult to pinpoint without more test patterns. Bridgelux sets also seem purplish in general. I must also add that photos taken with LED light cannot bring out the actual brightness or colourations as compared with actual visuals viewing directly from a human eye. The photos hardly did justice to the light sets. So I leave it to you guys to see which lightings / light ratios you guys prefer in your future purchases. Cheers.
  5. Bro, how about this... Set this channel the last "ON" after whatever presets you've doing for the other 2 channels. So this "ON"at 12:00, then at the next "OFF", press the "RST/RCL"button to finish the programming. See if this works ya..
  6. There were some at Iwarna 2 days ago. You wanna try calling them to see if still available?
  7. Hi bro, how to post histograms? The primitive way I can think of is taking a screen shot of the histogram on the camera LCD with my handphone and post it here. Or is the software be found with the nikon CD? Can I also post the raw format of e photos here too?
  8. Wah, you still have not made up your mind on the tank size arh. Seems to me that the equipment you have acquired can hold more water in total than the smaller tank option. Lol. So why not go for the bigger option if your table can withstand the weight?
  9. I don't have space for FR, so the Rowaphos are used in the filter bag for mine. Looking to get po4 test kits soon..
  10. Bro the silicates are they from fish food?
  11. Yup. Used the multimeter to determine that the polarity are reversed. I trusted the shopkeeper in SLT to say it was "+" when it was "-". Haha.
  12. I'm on leave tmr. After I settle the personal errand, I'll have sometime to test the lights. But it's daytime environment though. I'll post the results on the equipment forum. Haha, even if we can buy by container loads, we need an Olympic sized pool aquarium to display everything. Let's arrange the Sunday after this for the Pasir Ris farm visit if you guys are keen ya.
  13. Are the snails working out? I'm facing diatom algae outbreak now. Have been overfeeding the fishes. After dinner, they're all sprouting "mid-life uncle" type bellies. Lol.
  14. Haha, container truck too extreme lah. Maybe downgrade to van can liao. But can only seat half-full of passengers. The other half reserved for plastic bags of live stock. On a serious note, this Sunday is out for me. Wife's got an event planned le. Next Sunday (23/7) 3pm on? Scientist come pick up your lights lah. I'm waiting to test out our sets within a controlled environment.
  15. Yup. I did actually solder it the wrong way round. I just resoldered the first "+" and the final "-" and it worked. Haha.
  16. Sure. If you're keen, next Sunday afternoon around 3pm? Come collect your lights too.
  17. From the LFS at Pasir Ris Farm, to the left at the first t-junction. I dont know the name of this shop though. it's the one where there's a roundabout just in front.. When I visit farms at pasir ris, I always turn left first, just don't know why. Then visits to Ah Beng and the Ng couple, then Iwarna. It became a habit already.
  18. Up. Pice reduced. $23 each. $40 take both.
  19. Livestock update 08.07.12 Saw this lovely Yashai Goby paired with a similarly colored Pistol Shrimp. It was the only bag with the pairing. The rest of the bags has only the gobies. I had to grab it without any hesitation! My dream pair..
  20. The "disco-light UAS" (as termed by my daughter) in action. Colorful bubbles yeah... Yes, I built an acrylic box with ventilation holes to house the new light box c/w dc fan. Absolutely loving it..
  21. Ohh.. I threw it away. I'm kinda kiasee one, rather err on the side of caution when it comes to the well being of the livestock in my tank. Haha.
  22. Well, I took it out of the container (still bagged) and saw white precipitation in the bag. Don't know if it's salt crystallization or what.. So decided not to use. Thanks guys.
  23. You wanna try other means to get it out? Maybe use a long satay stick or something to dislodge it from the rock (or even poke it out), or blow it out with a powerhead, for examples. If you really can't get it out, then perhaps dose bacteria to turbo boost the decomposing and turn the ammonia into Nitrates fast. My 2 cents.
  24. Bought extra for wc a fortnight ago. Today I wanna do wc again. Can I use this "aged" water? It's still kept in the original plastic bag sealed, kept in a cool dry place. Btw it's salt mixed, not NSW.
  25. DIY Project UAS. (update - 07.07.12) Have been getting less than ideal algae growth on my Upflow ATS. The 10W LED warm white is too bright at a single focus point, causing a burnt point in the centre where nothing can grow. Then I got myself 5 pcs of 3W LEDs. 4 x red 660nm, and 1 x blue 455nm. Stripped my current box out and cannibalize what I can. This is what I get. Added a strong DC fan for cooling measures. It's strong, but it's kinda noisy too. Voila!! Will update the effectiveness of this light along the way. Hope it works..
