  1. Livestock update. 25.07.12. Added some new fishes in the last 2 days. I reckoned I take some notes now as I'm starting to lose track of so many fishes, especially during feeding frenzies. In their order of appearance in my tank. 1. Tailspot Blenny. 2". 2. Red Firefish. 2.5". 3. Blue Tang. 1". 4. Yellow Tang. 2". 5. Watanabei Angel female. 1" 6. Yasha Goby 1.5" paired with Randall Pistol Shrimp. 7&8. True Percula pair. 1" each. 9. Twin Spot Wrasse. 2.5". 10. Ang Kong Kong Bali Wrasse. 2.5". And my current fav... 11. Helfrichi. 1.5".
  2. This is how the stand looks with the chiller on it. Lol. Note the chiller is not hooked up yet.
  3. No problem bro. Tell me the dimensions u want and I'll go get the material. DAMA is very near my office. But you're sure u want the Upflow ATS ha? It's the only thing I can do. I've no knowledge of the external one
  4. Saw a chevron tang at cf this afternoon at 2pm. Around 2.5" thereabouts.
  5. Hi Bro, thanks for the zoas. They're opening up nicely, even after 5 hours in the container from the time of collection, and another 5 mins of fw dip. Thank you.
  6. 30 mins? Sounds like a lot of elbow grease.. Lol.. I think you mean 30 seconds??
  7. Leong sale. $18 each. Take both for $32.
  8. DIY Project 6 - Carpentry Will be getting my chiller in a few days. The most logical placement is the left side of the tank. Unfortunately, this is also the side where I'll have to access the ATS weekly. I needed a cabinet that is: 1. Wide enough to place the chiller (47cm) on top. 2. Strong enough for me to step on it every week. 3. Ergonomic enough. Not too tall, but just tall enough to store 1.5L bottles vertically within the cabinet. 4. Long enough to hold both the chiller and for me to step up beside the chiller and yet not knock it over. The cabinets available in the market do not meet all my criteria above. Custom making it costs way too high to justify for a cabinet that doesn't need to hold a glass tank. So I had to DIY again. Unfortunately I didn't take photos of the raw material stage, nor of the production stages. Only at the end then I remembered to take photos. Perhaps it's the dust, or maybe it's the physical work. Terrible backache at the end of this 4-hour project. Finished article.
  9. DIY Project UAS - Update 22.07.12 Another week since I last washed the turf. 7 days' of nutrients concised on this 20 sq inches of turf. I can say I'm happy with this dark mass, but I wish the growth be thicker.
  10. Hey bro, do note that moonlight vs dusk/dawn is very different. Within your constraint of 2aquawashers, each with a power cord only, you can time one set to be "on" for a while before the 2nd set is turned on. Reverse for the ending of the photo period.
  11. Thanks bro. Do share when you're building the 0.5w LEDs. Sounds like alot of detailed work ya..
  12. Choy Choy choy... Fish foo can add. Aips stay away..
  13. Hi bro, My dosing is very primitive one. Based on my 90L total water volume. 1. Quarter teaspoon of Brightwell "Elemental" powder mixed in my ATO DI water, dripped at 1.5L per day. 2. 2.5ml of Brightwell "Magnesion" every alternate day. 3. 2.5ml each of both Brightwell "Reef Code A" & "Reef Code B" every alternate day. Note: I'm dosing at roughly half the recommended rates for the volume. Dosing the above amounts until I get my hands on D-D multi test kits for Mg, Ca, & dkh. After which will be fine tuning based on the exact deficiencies. 4. 7.5 hours of blue LED lights per day. pH has been maintained at 8.1 - 8.2 all the while, monitored by "Snail" pH meter.
  14. Thanks bro. We arrange via SMS ya..
  15. Lol touch wood.. Lucky this fella was on the sandbed, at a corner I can reach easily.. When I see a bunch of them, I'll leave them to the experts.. the peppermint shrimps!! Maybe I should introduce a peppermint or 2 now, to whack the baby aips if there were any.. Hmmm, if got no more aips, what do peppermints eat?
  16. A day of a few "first" -17.07.2012 1. After weeks of trying to growing coralline algae, finally I see the first purple dots! Haha, I know it's just a very small achievement, but I'm still excited! Unfortunately, these purple dots are on the Tunze wave maker! 2. Tube worm offspring! Saw Henry's tank at ML (the one w the slanted front glass) and the forest of tube worms. My jaw dropped when I first saw it. He said to just plant some tube worms halfway into the sandbed and the worms will take care of the propagation. He's right!! Hope this is the first of many offsprings. 3. First sight of unknown snails. Is this pest or friend? Only 3-5mm big. 4. Easily removed an aiptasia anemone for the first time. It was growing on the sand. I just scooped it up with a tau huay spoon. Easy peasy. Initially I was thinking about peppermint shrimp and berghias. Lol. Can you spot the aip?
  17. The bumps are getting better. They're not as pronounced as yesterday.
  18. Hi Mark, Thanks for your reply. I'm not sure the value of the resistor. I just told the shop owner what I have, and that was what he recommended. The new power supply is a 2A one. 12v / 24w. They're very bright. If by this weekend I still see 5 hot spots, I'll probably try to use a slightly translucent acrylic as a diffuser. Most of the grow lights selling in the market use a combination of red & blue lights (80:20 or thereabouts ratio). So I'm following this rule. After 1 week, I can see significantly more growth than the warm white led.
  19. Bro I'm interested. May I have the honor too? I can bring your resin to you at the same time also.
  20. Ya I know I know. Come home to see just 1 or 2 fishes in our tank makes the itchy eyes, hands, and pockets super hard to contain! A small sized AT may just barely cut it, but extra extra caution with the PBT together. Nonetheless for a 2ft cube, most reefers won't advise an AT in it. A word of caution too with the flame angel.. It's a gamble with the corals. Plan your real estate properly for the various corals. For example, you may dedicate a corner for a zoas garden, a corner for mushies, rics, LPS etc etc.. paying particular attention to the different flow and light conditions the different corals enjoy. For small tanks like ours, small frags may be more appropriate, for one, premium real estate, and two, it's exciting and rewarding to see corals and livestocks grow. Keep us updated ya.
  21. Nice.. Now the excitement starts ya. Have fun stocking up. Any planned stock list?
