  1. Wow. Do they output where they input too? Kind of eewwww.. Lol
  2. A string of red thread-like mucus is coming out of the 2 zoass each. Anyone knows what it is? And should I do anything?
  3. Yup. This tank used to be at Buangkok area. Haha. Anyway, I bought the cover for this tank. I only need to top up around 10-20ml every other day. Evaporation is manageable. I'm now seriously considering lionfish setup. Heehee.
  4. Here's a little piece of tranquility on my desk. 1. My coffee. 2. My terrarium. 3. My little Lego dog. (It only sits there staring at me the whole day). 4. And my 13L IQ5. Cycling for the last 2 weeks with a pc of liverock (1kg), salt mix, biohome, and 15 drops of micro bacter per day. I'm trying to keep things as simple as possible. I don't want my bosses to think that I have too much time on my hands. Lol. Anyway, I'm just a salesman in my company. It helped that I topped the numbers for the 2 months running, and thus I found the perfect timing to add this water column on my desk. I can always say that this water element has been the source of my current success. Ha. Ha. Ha. For the last 2 weeks, I've been getting so many curious questions about this container of water and a queer piece of stone. Many have also pestered me to quickly add some life to the water. They're getting real bored already. Haha. My plan is a 10% wc every week / or bi-weekly if required, for nutrient export and replenishment of elements. I'll just bring a 1.5L-bottle of salt mix from home for the wc. No skimmers, nor other equipment. Thinking if I should do a conventional nano fish w softies & LPS, or should I do a radical species tank. Lionfish? Box fish? Seahorses / pipefish? Frogfish? Any suggestion?
  5. Bought this cute little gonio today. Real small, when closed, the skeleton is only about 3cm by 1cm by 1cm. Perfect for my small tank. (Picture taken with the ric and the cleaner shrimp to compare sizes)
  6. Wow, that's a long rest time for the chiller. Btw, how big is your water volume that it can sustain the temperature for such a long time?
  7. Try it. You won't regret it. I've gone without skimmer for more than a month already, and I'm starting to feel more confident of adding more livestock real soon. Haha..
  8. Got it from Iwarna. Was there this afternoon again at 4pm, and there are still such rics available. If you're game, I can go visit them again tmr to get for you ya.. Lol..
  9. My monti cap grew a finger. Damned cute. Now it looks like a swan with an E.T. like finger as neck and head. Lol. Also bought a polyp of ric over the weekend. It was already splitting. But a bigger surprise when I saw an extra mouth after it has settled. This means I paid only for one polyp, but will likely end up with 3 polyps soon. Yeah.
  10. Bro how much is the 161? This Sunday I may not be free. Update the skimmer efficiency ya..
  11. Funny my tangs don't seem to like greens. Anti-Vegan tangs. Haha.
  12. Lol. But you're right. It won't look out of place in a planted tank.
  13. Very impressive!! Question: what does "crazed" mean? I was at dama today, and found that they do polish the edges after cutting with a surcharge. I thought it would stick better after polishing? Was the Formica easy to work with?
  14. UAS update 07.09.2012. I'm truly delighted to share about this device. I usually wash my UAS every 7 days. But due to my holidays last week, I missed a weekend cleaning. So when I came back to town on a Thursday, I kan cheong quickly washed it. You should see the delight on my face when I saw this. Macro algae grows over the micro algae when you give it more time! This is a 12-days growth. Hence from now on, I'll only wash my UAS every 2 weeks instead of 1. Hahaha. Less work too. Talk about sustainability. No casualties after 8 days of neglect. (only thing done was light feeding daily by my mom-in-law). Growth on corals observed. Monti cap grew an extension arm. 2 baby zoas polyps popped. Fishes seem fatter and bigger. My 4 pink tube works never opened so beautifully. Best part is I've gone skimmerless for more than a month already. No I'm slowly adding in livestock to test the limits of this UAS. I've not tested the parameters yet though. Later.
  15. Have not checked yet. Will be doing the tests over the weekend. However, the overall quality of the water seems to be good, judging from the following. 1. Growth observed on the only sps in the tank. Monti cap. 2. At least 2 baby polyps observed on my mini zoas garden. 3. Filter feeders (4 pink tube worms) are extending their feelers beautifully. 4. No casualties at all during my 8 days' of absence. 5. No sign of nuisance algae. Param numbers to be updated after the tests.
  16. This is mine after 12 days of non cleaning. Usually I wash every 7 days, and I get sludge-like algae. I went for a holiday and missed a cleaning. Well I can say I'm pleasantly surprised to find green hairy algae.
  17. Thanks Jeff. The tank as it stands now at the corner of my desk.
  18. Ahh ok. Down the drain it goes. Anyways it's not particularly attractive to begin with. lol
  19. Lol macham conjoined twins, one malnourished. Haha..
  20. 5-legged. 1 cm width. Found it while cleaning tank. Should I flush it or leave it in the tank?

  23. Thanks for the suggestion. I am current using a hood over the tank, so the hob skimmer could not work for me.
