Hi, for blue tang that are small, such as 50 cents coin. What is their recommended diet? since they are still small? Spirulina? can fit into thier mouth? Thanks in advance !
-
Yo....mini reef, later full blown reef !! Oh, I forgot whether there's light in your sump, anyway, can put some red bamboo, nice and red, improve your quarantine area, more hiding place=less stress Food for tang ! I think its juz me, I love red bamboo. Haha. Best to find sand that is 2-3 mm in size, Aragonite sand can buffer the water only if the PH drops to below 7.4, since our normal PH is not in that range...also no point woh... Correct me if I'm wrong guys, I forgot where I heard that frm.

Should be the other way. A refugium can be in the sump, its a place where there's no predatory fishes , thus ya pods, macro algae can be grew in peace. Purpose refer to wat klim said.
-
I decom it though as there is some error in my DIY. The output should be bigger than my input. Cut the hole wrongly. Idea also leech from reef central, hehehe. However, be warn that there have been cases of a nitrite spike in the initial stage of the remote DSB, last ard few hrs i think. One fellow kana, some of his fishes KO, but alot never. I also never. hehehee.

Effect of tannin, anyone? Wonder wat does it do to fishes....fish no diarrhoea?? From wiki. "Tannins are an important ingredient in the process of tanning leather. Oak bark has traditionally been the primary source of tannery tannin, though inorganic tanning agents are also in use today. Tannins may be employed medicinally in antidiarrheal, hemostatic, and antihemorrhoidal compounds. Tannins produce different colors with ferric chloride (either blue, blue black, or green to greenish black) according to the type of tannin. Iron gall ink is produced by treating a solution of tannins with iron(II) sulfate. Tannin is a component in a type of industrial particleboard adhesive developed jointly by the Tanzania Industrial Research and Development Organization and Forintek Labs Canada." -
Icic, However, since its a DSB, should not disrupt the tubberware often. Not that it will release toxin etc, but it will disrupt the anaerobic bacteria too if its moved too often. Nah, juz running fishes only, work schedule long.... oh, used to used a remote DSB, in a coral life salt bucket ! Think 20 inch of sand.
-
lol. Live prawn, maybe for fishing? juz joking. Anyway, you can mod your reef octopus. The longer you wait to add livestock in your tank, the better. Since ya using live sand and previous live rock, the time span can be shorten. How long is your tank already?
-
Tank is 3 ft x 1.5 x 2,5 ft tall. Think 2 seio is a bit....heheee...but very little algae....thinking of using 1 seio 620 at the front and 1100 at the back though. Yup yup, hence the mobile DSB, as might nned the space to put a biggger skimmer nxt time, the tubberwear is from daiso, juz nice, I think its 7 inch deep.

Yo. Nice chiller. Btw, have ya tested ya temperature in ya sump? Wonder if a high temperature would hinder the growth of algae and pods in the sump.
-
More testing do be done to fine tune it. Hopefully more time during weekend....
-
After upgrade. Added 2 layer of mesh. However, got greedy, added 3 layer. Efficiency reduce. During testing....whole cannister with bubbles.
-
-
Some updates. While deciding which skimmer to upgrade.... Did some mod on my macro... Gutter mod from reefcentral.

Thought anything that fish eat will cause bio-load ?..... So actually, fishes eating cheato should be okay unless constipate or something, haha. The gd thing abt cheato is that, u can always donate to fellow reefers after pruning. So far, I have not find any studies on the rate of absorbility[if there such a word] of different Algae/Mangrove plants. Is there? -
Would you buy a fish to save it from misery?
Ah-lim replied to Ah-lim's topic in General Reefkeeping_
Lol. No naming. Pretty obvious. If there is a SPCA which handles fishes, heheee. Normally, I seldom buy fish frm there, most of them would not last long also, unless special care is taken. juz a thought to share with ya guys. -
Nice, guess depend on individual fish bah, see luck. hehee. Anyway, currently reserved.
-
Yup, I think so too. Lol. Guess some website are juz..... At least my tank is pest-free! no more crabs !
-
Juz managed to save a fish from misery from a particular LFS. The shop does not really tak care of the fishes. Then, it dawns on me that, would ya bros out there buy a fish that is injured or sick and nurse it back to health ? Juz a thought.
