  1. If cardinals, I prefer threadfin/blue eyes cardinals if not, the red spot tail cardinals. They are really sweet! However you certainly need like staghorns or acros to give them shade and shelter. Otherwise they will spend alot of their time hiding in rock crevices and wont come out to feed. This is what happened in my tank. I bought 5 now left 2. hahaha (: Anyway CF has vandarbilt chromis ah? ehh mind telling me when you all fish gurus see them k! I also want to buy like 10 of them!
  2. but bro, does it cause the skimmer to go crazy?
  3. good move for moving your LS to digiman's place (: ahaha, some pics of your rocks?
  4. bro, what kind of residue? white colour type? Sometimes some salt has white residue. I think it has got to do with their batch/packaging/formulation of the salt process. Don't worry, nothing is serious about this residue. You can either siphon it out and put it in the sump IN CASE it makes a difference to your tank or just leave it alone and use sand to cover it or wait for it to completely dissolve. From my experience, the residue wont dissolve :X
  5. woah aren't they suppose to be poisonous? nice catch! heh sadly I cannot go down to see! :S
  6. if you want to be safe, leave it for 2 days. Also bro, give the tank some water agitation to allow dissolved gases to exchange. This helps in reaching the ionic balance in the water faster (: anyway where did you get your butterfly? Reborn?
  7. ahaha thanks bro.Lemon (: whee! I also using ROWA Carbon now. Ehh supposed to buy Rox but I cannot wait cause tank starts to show signs of unhappiness; then about to get my usual Eheim Karbon, a nice bro decided to lelong his ROWA carbon at a good price. Found it hard to turn down so okay! bought and using ROWA Carbon
  8. woah! hahaha give it to you liao! I ever thought of using table salt to test for 2nd hand skimmer efficiency until someone told me to use vinegar! lol
  9. hahaha yeah those other 2 are expensive! but bro, do read up more on salt mixes and see what works for you. different brand got different composition level. some high in mag, some high in kh haha (: and I also cheapo guy lah! my first salt was red sea! even more cui! lol! then Instant Ocean cause Clementi 328 sells one box of 4kg for $14 minus bargain. after bargain $12
  10. Oceanic = cheapo salt? OMG! my class and your class seriously different! ahaha I use Instant Ocean previously and Marine Environment. May switch back to IO after I finished my Marine Environment salt (:
  11. Bro peacemaker, don't use cheapo carbon. If want to buy something cheap, I can recommend you Eheim Karbon for FW use. I used them before for my marine tanks; works equally well except that it needs to be hot water activated. Otherwise based on PT's pics, they should be Lignite carbon, 2nd grade carbon after Rox 0.8 (: why dont use cheapo carbon? cheapo carbon uses phosphoric/sulphuric acid to burn the carbon adsorption pores. So indirectly you are introducing possible phosphate to your tank (: Also Eheim Karbon promises on their box that their carbon has 0% phosphate. haha (: and Eheim Karbon costs you $9 from Clementi 328 for 1L box. that should be able to last you say for 4 mths or more depending on your usage? (: Anyway about NSW, for now, I think I can only trust CF for their NSW. but I bought my NSW from LCK210 2 weeks ago. So far no casualty *touchwood* (:
  12. oh alrights! oh yah I thought of which LFS can ask for NSW liao! can ask Coralfarm! they are ISO company, water quality should be there but only thing is I dont know if they send water to your place :X
  13. Anyway bro, do you need help with the rockscaping etc? I can lend you some hands since I am free this weekend (:
  14. ehh about the water level in your last compartment you can consider putting more water into that compartment also. but ultimtaely that may cause your sump to overflow when power shortage cuts. :S Anyway have you done the power shortage cut test ie. see if your sump can cope with the amount of water collected due to backflow? and have you cut a hole in each of your return pipe to act as backflow break? (: otherwise, it's a REALLY crystal clear tank! hahaha and don't use saltwater. I also going to use saltmix this weekend for my water change. darn it. haha! but remember to mix salt already then put sand in. MUST! otherwise you may have to recalibrate your salinity level somedays later (: Happy Reefing, Marc J.
  15. Bro! I am tagging along this threadd! Better keep it alive long long okay! Those valves thingy with the blue tap is called union ball valve (: Secondly, I agreed with bro.Terryz that you should wait up to a day or more than 6 hours after applying pvc glue. You never know when the glue actually cures. Otherwise, exposing them to water will weaken the bond (: but having said that you already put water. so now let's see if there're any leaks! :X Thirdly, that's really alot of test kits you got there! I wish I got that kind of money to spend on them! haha (: Fourthly, I like the idea of you mixing your sandbed. personally I am doing that too. Works really well. Even my vortech mp40w cannot stir them up haha (: Lastly, bro, I think you can try adding some bioballs with a filter wool or filter bag with carbon on top to help cushion the waterfall. Otherwise maybe you can tune down your returns or ask vincent to do another 2 tee-offs for other purposes to help distribute the flow (: I LOVE YOUR TANK! Happy Reefing, Marc J. Bro, I love your tank! Wish that I can have something like this someday!
  16. wow bro.yellowtang! your taste damn high! hahaha i like the blue acro to the right back of the pic! looks damn chio!
  17. LOLOLOL! OMG reading this thread seriously makes me laugh really hard! LOL
